ObjectiveTo examine the metrical characteristic of wellbeing index when it was applied to citizens in China and to explore the cross-cultural equivalence of it. Methods 739 subjects were investigated in this study. The internal reliability of the scale was examined through Cronbach α coefficients and item-total correlations. Exploratory factor analysis was used to test its structural validity.ResultsThe wellbeing index had good internal consistency reliability,and the coefficients of them were 0.77 and 0.82. ConclusionWellbeing index had good metrical characteristics when applying to citizen in China. The outcome derived from it was believable and it could be used as an instrument to explore Chinese citizens' subjective quality of life.
