Objective To investigate the clinical significance of the changes of plasma haemostatic markers, interleukin-6 （IL-6） and tumor necrosis factor-α （TNFα） concentration in patients with gastrointestinal cancer. Methods In 42 patients with gastrointestinal cancer, we evaluated markers of heamastatic function, including levels of tissue factor, fibrinogen and its degradation products D-dimer, tissue plasminogen activator, as well as activities of coagulation factors Ⅱ , Ⅴ, Ⅶ, Ⅷ, Ⅸ, Ⅹ, Ⅺ. The concentrations of IL-6 and TNFα were also detected. A group of healthy volunteers was teken as controls. Results It was found that the levels of tissue factor, fibrinogen, D-dimer and tissue plasminogen activator significantly increased in the patients （P 〈0.05 or P 〈0.01 ）. Conclusion The hasmostasis disorders were existed in patients with gastrointestinal cancer when the diagnosis was just made.
