Objective To explore the method and path of extending nursing care for patients with rectal carcinoma after colastomy. Methods The comparative study was undergone between the observation group （n = 36） by extending nursing care and the control group （n = 36） by routine nursing care, The complications, regular defecation control, self- care ability and recovery of sex function were compared between the two groups after half a year. Results The observation group had an advantage over the control group in all items of life quality, especially in the time for daily care and ability of self - care. Conclusion The extending nursing care can meet the needs and improve recovery effectively.
