Objective To verify the diagnosis of Japanese encephalitis virus B type cases and to investigate the incidence of the disease in Sichuan Province. Methods The serum antibody of encephalitis virus B type and other encephalitis virus were detected from serum and/or CSF samples from clinically diagnosed cases during 2006 -2007 with ELISA. Results In 2006, 1 199 cases were clinical reported as encephalitis virus B type and 880 cases of serum and/or CSF samples were detected, and the incidence of serum diagnosis was 73.39%. In 2007, the incidence of serum diagnosis was 61.74%, which was from 580 Clinical reported cases and 334 cases of serum and/or CSF samples. In the antibody detection of JE IgM and IgG antibody test, 701 and 221 cases showed positive and the serum verification rate was 79.66% and 66. 17%, respectively, overall 116 serum samples（ from 2006）and 102 serum samples （from 2007） which encephalitis virus antibody negative were carried out for detection virus encephalitis IgM, and the positive incidence of ECHO virus, Coxsackie viruses, herpes simplex virus and mumps virus were 7.76%, 21.55%, 20. 69% and 2. 59% in 2006 and 4. 90%, 0%, 2. 94% and 14. 71% in 2007 respectively. Conclusion The epidemic encephalitis virus is still predominant by encephalitis virus B type in summer in Sichuan Province. However, the virus encephalitis caused by other virus should also be paid much attention.
