Objective ： To discuss the methods and curative effects of traditional Chinese medicine in treating acne. Methods ： Research actuality of acne treated by traditional Chinese medicine in recent 5 years were summarized and concluded. Results ： Traditional Chinese medicine had achieved great progress in treating acne. Pathogenesis of this disease was mostly related with heat, dampness, phlegm, blood stasis and imbalance of Chang channel and Ren channel from the perspective of TCM. The accumulation of phlegm and dampness was the major syndrome type, so the reducing phlegm and softening hardness therapy should be adopted. As for female acne patients who always had the situation of abnormal menstruation, and the patients who were always affected by emotional factors, they should be differentiated and treated from the liver and kidney, adopt the therapy of regulating Chong channel and Ren channel, and use Danzhi Xiaoyao San and Chaihu Shugan San to sooth liver and regulate qi by adding and subtracting. Conclusion：Traditional Chinese medicine has definite curative effect and no side effect in the treatment of acne with various methods.
