Percutaneous coronary intervention( PCI) is the cornerstone in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease( CHD) being widely used in clinical practice due to several advantages such as low operational risk, high instant recanalization rate and fewer complications. However, due to stent-induced economic burden and the impact on family, most patients develop psychological symptoms post-operationally,such as paranoid, anxiety and depression et al,which negatively affect the recovery and quality of life. Traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) has been showing positive evidence in the treatment of depression in patients after PCI with the properties of good compliance, promising effectiveness and fewer adverse complications. To have a systematic understanding, the recent studies and clinical trials on TCM in the management of psychological symptoms in CHD patients post PCI were reviewed in the paper.
