The effect of grazing intensity on vegetation character in Leymus chinensis grassland by grazing experiment was studied. The result showed that the tendency of height, density and biomass of main plant populations was different with the seasonal changes. The height of them decreased with the increase of grazing intensity. Moderate grazing intensity led the rate of grasses in community to increasing and raised the quality of herbage. There was a tendency in community density with the increase of grazing intensity. The index of diversity increased at beginning and then decreased with the increase of grazing intensity, that was to say, the index of diversity was highest under moderate grazing intensity and moderate grazing intensity benefited to maintenance of diversity, inversely, the increase of diversity also could strength tolerance against grazing. There was no significant linear correlation between number of species and index of diversity.
