For the Gatling weapon, due to its high firing rate and the complex characteristics of recoil, reducing the recoil resistance and enhancing firing precision becomes an important research topic for the im-provement of the performance of Gatling weapon system. Designed was a buffer which makes use of new materials in metal rubber as the main damping material and the circular spring which has effective cushio-ning performance as the main elastic element with the recoil motion differential equation of the Gatling gun established. On the basis of the equation, with MATLAB used to simulate and analyze what happened when the shape factor of metal rubber was changed,it was derived that the shape factor of metal rub-ber is inversely proportional to its stiffness coefficient. The simulation results show that the buffer which loads the metal rubber can better reduce the Gatling gun recoil resistance. Consequently, there is a great significance for metal rubber to improve the firing precision and stability of the Gatling gun.
