The eucommia umoides gum （EUG）/ nitrile rubber （NBR） blends were prepared by blending, and the curing characteristics, crystallization behavior, mechanical properties, as well as aging resistance of blending under different environ- ments were investigated. The results showed that both scorch time and optimum cure time of the compound, also tensile strength and elongation at break of the vulcanizates were reached the maximum value when the amount of EUG was 10 phr. Adding a certain amount of EUG played a part in improving salt spray resistance and ultraviolet aging resistance of NBR vulcanizates. Both hardness and oil resistance of the blends exhibited optimum value when EUG was 20 phr. This phenomenon could be interpret by differential scanning calorimetry that there was mi- crocrystalline in the vulcanizates and the compatibility of EUG and NBR.
