Aiming at the problems that speed of narrowband underwater acoustic communication is low and optical waves are severely affected by the scattering,the high speed and reliable short distance electromagnetic communication technology is studied.Based on the channel model of the underwater electromagnetic communication established and the performance analysis of single carrier communication system,an OFDM scheme for the underwater short distance ultra-wideband electromagnetic wave communication is proposed in this paper. A weighted sub-band power control algorithm is introduced at the transmitting terminal and the linear equalization algorithm is introduced at the receiving terminal,and the system capacity estimation is presented further. Simulation results show that the complexity of this method is low,the information transmission rate could up to 40 kbps when the transmission range is 11 m,and the bit signal-to-noise ratio is about 2.5 d B reduced compared with the single carrier transmission scheme under the same bit error rate.
