In order to tackle the whine noise problem of differential gear in an automotive transmission under third and fourth gear conditions,firstly a simulation on transmission model is conducted with the correctness of simulation model verified by comparing the simulation and test results of gear contact pitting spots and housing surface vibration response. Then on the basis of single factor analysis on the effects of micro-profile correction parameters on the transmission error of differential gear,an orthogonal experiment optimization is performed with the weighted mean value of transmission error as evaluation indicator,and a combination of the micro-profile correction parameters with minimum transmission error is obtained. Optimization results significantly reduce the transmission error of differential gear under third and fourth gear conditions and hence the corresponding whine noise.
