Objective:To investigate the relationship between cholangiocarcinoma and clonorchis sinensis. Methods:Differences of the incidence of cholangiocarcinoma in clonorchis sinensis-infected and uninfected subjects were compared. In 691 clonorchiasis cases, 26 cholangiocarcinoma patients were found, including 24 males and 2 females. In 539 uninfected clonorchiasis cases, however, 8 of them were cholangiocarcinoma patients, including 6 males and 2 females. Conclusion: The incidence of cholangiocarcinoma in clonorchiasis sinensis infected patients is higher than that in the uninfected. Clonorchis sinensis can be regarded as a risk factor for cholangiocarcinoma.
