Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of acute poisoning in Qidong area. Methods 910 cases of acute poisoning admitted to the emergency department of Qidong County People's Hospital in 2017 were collected. Retrospective epidemiological methods were used to analyze the age, sex, poisoning causes, poisoning routes, toxic substances, treatment methods, and poisoning outcomes of the patients. Results In the age group of poisoning patients, the proportion of 21 -30 years old group was the highest (35. 05%). The classification of poisoning poisons from high to low was alcoholism, snake bite poisoning, pesticide poisoning, drug poisoning, carbon monoxide poisoning, rodenticide poisoning, poisonous poisoning, drug poisoning, bee poisoning. The most common way of poisoning was oral poisoning, and 74. 49% of them were women with suicidal tendency. August-September was a high incidence of poisoning;The mortality rate of poisoned patients was 1.09%. The proportion of new drugs far exceeded that of opioids. Conclusions Alcohol, snake venom and pesticide were the most common poisoning substances. New drug poisoning had an increasing trend. Women accounted for the vast majority of patients with suicidal tendency. Local departments should strengthen publicity and education on prevention of poisoning among the public to reduce the incidence of poisoning incidents.
