Improving Competitiveness of Agricultural Products in China: Concept and Policies

摘要 我国加入世贸之后,在国际竞争日益激烈的背景下,为了抓住机遇,迎接挑战,促进发展,就必须不断提高我国农产品的国际竞争力.为此,需要全面理解竞争力的构成要素,研究我国目前的差距,采取有针对性的改进措施. The paper first discussed the concept of competitiveness and decomposes it into three aspects: price, quality and credit. Based on a detailed analysis of the factors influencing each of those three components, the current status of the competitiveness of Chinese agricultural products by group is then elaborated which concludes that China still enjoys a higher price competitiveness for almost all products, in particular for horticultural and livestock products, while in a unfavorable situation of disadvantages in product quality and credit of the product reputation, traders' behavior or local policy environment. Finally, measure to improve the competitiveness of Chinese agricultural products in all three areas are proposed.
