Co9S8 nanowires@NiCo LDH nanosheets arrays on nickel foams towards efficient overall water splitting

Water electrolysis is considered to be an effective way to fabricate hydrogen, and it is desirable to find the highly efficient, inexpensive and good durability bifunctional electrocatalysts for overall water splitting.In this paper, we synthesis a unique structured catalyst that was composed by Co9S8 nanowires and nickel cobalt layered double hydroxide(NiCo-LDH) nanosheets. The ultrathin nanosheets decorated on the Co9S8 nanoarrays offer large specific surface area, numerous active edge sites and excellent electrical conductivity for fast electron transfer. Benefiting from this heterogeneous structure, the catalyst presents excellent catalytic performance in alkaline media. It requires 168 mV to reach current density of 10 mA/cm2 for HER and 278 m V to reach current density of 30 mA/cm2 for OER. When used as electrode in a homemade two-electrode system, it only needs t a voltage of 1.63 V to achieve current densities of 10 mA/cm2, which proves Co9S8@NiCo LDH/NF as a superior bifunctional catalyst for water splitting. 展开更多

For efficient electrolysis of water for hydrogen generation or other valueadded chemicals,it is highly relevant to develop low-temperature synthesis of low-cost and high-e ciency metal sulfide electrocatalysts on a large scale.Herein,we construct a new core–branch array and binder-free electrode by growing Ni3S2 nanoflake branches on an atomic-layer-deposited(ALD)TiO2 skeleton.Through induced growth on the ALD-TiO2 backbone,cross-linked Ni3S2 nanoflake branches with exposed{210}highindex facets are uniformly anchored to the preformed TiO2 core forming an integrated electrocatalyst.Such a core–branch array structure possesses large active surface area,uniform porous structure,and rich active sites of the exposed{210}high-index facet in the Ni3S2 nanoflake.Accordingly,the TiO2@Ni3S2 core/branch arrays exhibit remarkable electrocatalytic activities in an alkaline medium,with lower overpotentials for both oxygen evolution reaction(220 mV at 10 mA cm-2)and hydrogen evolution reaction(112 m V at 10 mA cm-2),which are better than those of other Ni3S2 counterparts.Stable overall water splitting based on this bifunctional electrolyzer is also demonstrated. 展开更多

Objective: To study the genetic diversity of Culex theileri flavivirus and the spread of this virus among Spain, Portugal and Turkey.Methods: A database consisting of 55 sequences of the NS5/3’UTR region of Culex theileri flavivirus group downloaded from GenBank were aligned and manual edited with Bioedit.ModelT est v.3.7 was used to select the simplest evolutionary model that adequately fitted the sequence data.Maximum likelihood analysis was performed using MEGA7.The phylogenetic signal of the dataset was investigated by the likelihood mapping analysis.Results: The phylogenetic tree showed three clusters.Myanmar sequences clusterd together with Turkish sequences, Spain and Portugal strains grouped together and two Turkish sequences grouped separately.Selective pressure analysis showed a moderate percentage of sites(22.5%) under pervasive negative selection and only 1% under pervasive positive selection.The sites subject to selective pressure in CTFV RdRp NS5 fragments have been located onto the predicted three-dimensional structure.Conclusions: Phylogenetic and evolutionary analysis can be an important tool for understanding the evolutionary impact of the probable contemporary existence between nonpathogenic and pathogenic flaviviruses among these vectors. 展开更多

We used the one-step hydrothennal controlled synthesis method for Co-Ni3S2 ultrathin nanosheets grown directly on nickel foam(NF).The as-synthesized Co-Ni3S2/NF showed eiilianced activities in the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and better overall water splitting(OWS)efficiency than the iin-doped Ni3S2/NF.the voltage of Co-Ni3S2/NF for OWS was only 1.58 V at the current density of 10 niA/cm^2 and with long time(>30 h)current output during the current-density(i-t)test.The good i-t pertonnance was also observed in both HER and OER processes.Additionally,the Co-Ni3S2/NF showed a large current density(>1A/cm^2)for both HER and OER.Wlien the current densities reached 100 and 1000 mA/cm^2,the required overpotentials tor Co-Ni3S2/NF were 0.35 and 0.75 V for OER and 0.30 and 0.85 V for HER.Therefore,after introducing Co,the activity of Ni3S2-based material was strongly enhanced. 展开更多

Electrocatalytic water splitting at nitrogen-doped carbon layers-encapsulated nickel cobalt selenide 预览

Generally,the catalytic overpotentials of hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)are unavoidable because of the low charge transfer.In this work,two strategies of alloying of Co with Ni and enclosing of electrocatalysts with carbonaceous materials were both used to accelerate the catalytic efficiency of cobalt selenide for water splitting.The nitrogen-doped carbon(NC)layer improves the reaction kinetics by efficient charge transfer.The alloying of metal into composited electrocatalysts can modify the electronic properties of host materials,thereby tuning the adsorption behavior of intermediate and improving the electrocatalytic activity.As expected,Nyquist plots reveal that the charge-transfer resistance(Rct)of nickel cobalt selenide encapsulated into nitrogen-doped carbon layer(CoNiSe/NC-3,Co:Ni=1:1)are just 5 and 9 for HER and OER,respectively,which are much lower than those of CoSe/NC-1(Co:Ni=1:0)(81 and 138)and CoNiSe/NC-3 without NC(CoNiSe-3)(54 and 25).With the high charge transfer and porous structure,CoNiSe/NC-3 shows good performance for both HER and OER.When current density reaches 10 m A cm-2,only 100 and 270 mV overpotentials are required for HER and OER,respectively.With the potential of 1.65 V,full water splitting also can be catalyzed by Co Ni Se/NC-3 with current density of 20 m A cm-2,suggesting that CoNiSe/NC-3 could be used as replacement for noble metal electrocatalysts. 展开更多

Developing Earth-abundant,highly efficient,and anticorrosion electrocatalysts to boost the oxygen evolution reaction(OER),oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) for the Zn–air battery(ZAB) and for overall water splitting is imperative.In this study,a novel process starting with Cu2O cubes was developed to fabricate hollow NixCo1-xSe nanocages as trifunctional electrocatalysts for the OER,ORR,and HER and a reasonable formation mechanism was proposed.The Ni0.2Co0.8Se nanocages exhibited higher OER activity than its counterparts with the low overpotential of 280 mV at 10 mA cm-2.It also outperformed the other samples in the HER test with a low overpotential of 73 mV at 10 mA cm-2.As an air–cathode of a self-assembled rechargeable ZAB,it exhibited good performance,such as an ultralong cycling lifetime of > 50 h,a high round-trip efficiency of 60.86%,and a high power density of 223.5 mW cm-2.For the application in self-made all-solid-state ZAB,it also demonstrated excellent performance with a power density of 41.03 mW cm-2 and an open-circuit voltage of 1.428 V.In addition,Ni0.2Co0.8Se nanocages had superior performance in a practical overall water splitting,in which only 1.592 V was needed to achieve a current density of 10 mA cm-2.These results show that hollow NixCo1-xSe nanocages with an optimized Ni-to-Co ratio are a promising cost-effective and high-efficiency electrocatalyst for ZABs and overall water splitting in alkaline solutions. 展开更多

Coastal regions are threatened by natural processes, such as erosion driven by storm surges and the effect of jetties, as well as by human behavior. The coastline of the Yellow River Delta(YRD) was monitored using the general high-tide line method, which combines Remote sensing(RS) and geographic information system(GIS) technology, using multi-spectral scanner(MSS), thematic mapper(TM), and enhanced thematic mapper plus(ETM+) images of the YRD from 1976 to 2014 as a data source. The results demonstrated that the shape and length of the YRD coastline has changed dramatically since 1976. The course of the Diaokouhe channel has resulted in mainly inland erosion in the north, and is primarily marine erosion;therefore, it was termed an erosion-type estuary. However, the coastline of the Qingshuigou course has moved seaward, demonstrating an accretion stage, and was therefore termed an accretion-type estuary. The coastline advanced forward before 1997 and shrank after 2003 in the southern part of the river mouth, which was due to the shift in the river mouth in 1996. It has continually extended outward in the northern part of the river mouth from 2003 onward. The coastline in the southern part of the river mouth has moved randomly, with the occurrence of both erosion and sedimentation caused by land reclamation and sea wave intrusion. In most cases, the coastline has extended offshore, especially in the northern part of the river mouth. The YRD coastline has changed frequently and rapidly from 1992 to 2014. The river mouth channel, river water and sediments, and precipitation were the major factors affecting the YRD. The YRD coastline was mainly in an accretion stage during flow periods. The erosion rate decreased and tended to be stable during a dry period. The coastline was basically stable when dry periods occurred over a long period. The location of Yellow River ports and sea erosion were the main factors driving coastline changes. The coastline was mainly influenced by the flow path of the Yellow River, with recen 展开更多

Transposable elements significantly contributed to the core promoters in the human genome

Transposable elements(TEs)are major components of the human genome constituting at least half of it.More than half a century ago,Barbara McClintock and later Roy Britten and Eric Davidson have postulated that they might be major players in the host gene regulation.We have scanned a large amount of data produced by ENCODE project for active transcription binding sites(TFBSs)located in TE-originated parts of polymerase II promoters.In total,more than 35,000 promoters in six different tissues were analyzed and over 26,000 of them harbored TEs.Moreover,these TEs usually provide one or more of TFBSs in the host promoters,which resulted in more than 6% of active TFBSs in these regions located in the TE-originated sequences.Rewiring of transcription circuits played a major role in mammalian evolution and consequently increased their functional and morphological diversity.In this large-scale analysis,we have demonstrated that TEs contributed a large fraction of human TFBSs.Interestingly,these TFBSs usually act in a tissue-specific manner.Thus,our study clearly showed that TEs played a significant role in shaping expression pattern in mammals and humans in particular.Furthermore,since several TE families are still active in our genome,they continue to influence not only our genome architecture but also gene functioning in a broader sense. 展开更多

Stoichiometric evolutions of PH3 under high pressure:implication for high-Tc superconducting hydrides

The superconductivity of hydrides under high pressure has attracted a great deal of attention since the recent observation of the superconducting transition at 203 K in strongly compressed H2S.It has been realized that the stoichiometry of hydrides might change under high pressure,which is crucial in understanding the superconducting mechanism.In this study,PH3 was studied to understand its superconducting transition and stoichiometry under high pressure using Raman,IR and X-ray diffraction measurements,as well as theoretical calculations.PH3 is stable below 11.7 GPa and then it starts to dehydrogenate through two dimerization processes at room temperature and pressures up to 25 GPa.Two resulting phosphorus hydrides,P2H4 and P4H6,were verified experimentally and can be recovered to ambient pressure.Under further compression above 35 GPa,the P4H6 directly decomposed into elemental phosphorus.Low temperature can greatly hinder polymerization/decomposition under high pressure and retains P4H6 up to at least 205 GPa.The superconductivity transition temperature of P4H6 is predicted to be 67 K at 200 GPa,which agrees with the reported result,suggesting that it might be responsible for superconductivity at higher pressures.Our results clearly show that P2H4 and P4H6 are the only stable P–H compounds between PH3 and elemental phosphorus,which is helpful for shedding light on the superconducting mechanism. 展开更多

Two-dimensional Sn2Ta2O7 nanosheets with a thickness of~10 nm were successfully prepared through a novel tantalic acid-based solid-state reaction method at reduced temperature.The as-obtained samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),ultraviolet–visible(UV–Vis)diffuse reflectance spectra,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller(BET)analysis.The photocatalytic performance of Sn2 Ta2 O7 nanosheets was evaluated by photocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen evolution under visible light irradiation(k C 400 nm).The Sn2Ta2O7 nanosheets with a large surface area of 25.9 m^2·g^-1 showed higher H2 production activity,which was about 4.4 times higher than that of bulk Sn2 Ta2O7 in lactic acid aqueous solutions using Pt as a cocatalyst.The improved photocatalytic performance mainly benefited from the nanosheet structure,which provided abundant surface active sites and facilitated the photogenerated charge carrier separation efficiently.This workmay open up new opportunity to develop novel nanostructured tantalum-based semiconductors with improved catalytic performance for solar energy conversion. 展开更多

Neutral water splitting is attractive for its use of non-corrosive and environmentally friendly electrolytes.However,catalyst development for hydrogen and oxygen evolution remains a challenge under neutral conditions.Here we report a simple electrodeposition and reductive annealing procedure to produce a highly active Ni-Co-Cr metal/metal oxide heterostructured catalyst directly on Ni foam.The resulting electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) requires only 198 mV of overpotential to reach 100 mNcm2 in 1 M potassium phosphate (pH =7.4) and can operate for at least two days without significant performance decay.Scanning transmission electron microscopy coupled with electron energy loss spectroscopy (STEM-EELS) imaging reveals a Ni-Co alloy core decorated with blended oxides layers of NiO,CoO and Cr2O3.The metal/metal oxide interfaces are suggested to be responsible for the high HER activity. 展开更多

This paper analysed the evolution of landslide research and research foci in different countries. The data comprise 3105 landslide SCI articles published between January 1977 and June 2015 from the Web of Science. The data are extracted under interaction constraints of the journal title, category, and keywords. The complex network method is used for the analysis. First, from the perspective of topics and methods, the evolution is systematically assessed by generating a co-citation network of the articles and a semantic cluster analysis. Second, from the perspective of topics and landsliderelated disasters, the focus in different countries is discussed by generating co-occurrence networks. These networks are the co-occurrence of the countries and keywords, and the co-occurrence of countries and landslide-related disaster phrases. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) landslide susceptibility analysis and methods of machine learning are popular research topics and methods, respectively. 沃尔夫冈·霍夫基希纳提出了一套十分深远的理论。他希望建立统一的信息范式为他设想的信息大统一理论提供本体论支持,而信息大统一理论则可以成为建设全球可持续性信息社会的理论支持。遗憾的是他最终并没有统一众多信息科学学科... 沃尔夫冈·霍夫基希纳提出了一套十分深远的理论。他希望建立统一的信息范式为他设想的信息大统一理论提供本体论支持,而信息大统一理论则可以成为建设全球可持续性信息社会的理论支持。遗憾的是他最终并没有统一众多信息科学学科的旧理论,无法给出一个兼容并包的信息概念。他只能做到设计出整个体系中最初的一个环节。他运用复杂性科学的研究方式尝试提出了一套复杂系统演化的本体论思想作为基础,以支撑他所提出的超学科研究计划,而他认为只有超学科研究才有望建立统一的信息范式。沃尔夫冈的复杂系统演化本体论存在很多问题,本文总结出了6点,而这些问题正是中国信息哲学演化本体论可以回答的。 展开更多

Geomorphic evolution often presents a spatial pattern of a "young to old" distribution under certain natural environmental conditions, whereby sampling the geomorphic types and characteristics in spatial sequence can provide evidence for the individual landform evolution and change. This so-called space-for-time substitution has been a methodology in geomorphologic research. This paper firstly introduced the basic concepts and background of the space-for-time substitution, then a full review has been conducted of recent research progress in geomorphic evolution based on the space-for-time substitution, such as fluvial landform, structural landform, estuarine landform and coastal landform. Finally, the basic principle of space-for-time substitution in geomorphology is developed. This review is intended to introduce the achievements of geomorphic evolution research using space-for-time substitution method and to point out the critical research needs to better understand and predict the geomorphic evolution in the future. 展开更多
