Batteries have been widely applied in many high-power applications,such as electric vehicles(EVs)and hybrid electric vehicles,where a suitable battery management system(BMS)is vital in ensuring safe and reliable operation of batteries.This paper aims to give a brief review on several key technologies of BMS,including battery modelling,state estimation and battery charging.First,popular battery types used in EVs are surveyed,followed by the introduction of key technologies used in BMS.Various battery models,including the electric model,thermal model and coupled electro-thermal model are reviewed.Then,battery state estimations for the state of charge,state of health and internal temperature are comprehensively surveyed.Finally,several key and traditional battery charging approaches with associated optimization methods are discussed. 展开更多

The environmental pollution,as well as gradual depletion of mineral resources has encouraged the world to move into renewable energy sources for generation of electricity.At present,the cost of using renewable energy sources,such as sunshine and wind in electricity generation has significantly reduced.This has led to higher penetration of renewable energy into the grid.However,both wind and solar energy photovoltaics are unpredictable energies which reduce the reliability and resiliency of the grid.The integration of battery energy storage system in the grid is one of the proficient solutions to the problem.There are numerous grid connected renewable energy based battery projects that have been deployed in different countries around the world for research,development and commercial application.This review paper will discuss some of the projects based on the battery connected wind and solar energy power generation systems that can operate both in grid connected and grid independent modes.The projects discussed in this paper are selected based on the availability of information.The battery energy storage system(BESS)incorporated in each of the project is found to increase the stability and performance of the grid by addressing the mismatch between power generation and the load of the grid created due to intermittent nature of renewable energy sources. 展开更多

En ergy storage devices with flexible form factor have become critical comp onents of wearable electr onic systems.In spired by methods of monolithic integration in the microelectronics fabrication process,we propose a planar flexible full-solid-state lithium-ion battery(FSLB)architecture and a layer-by-layer stencil printing assembly method for fabricating batteries on polyethylene terephthalate(PET)substrate.FSLBs use quasi-solid electrolyte based on LiTFSI and ultraviolet(UV)-curable ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate(ETPTA)polymeric matrix in combination with Li4Ti50i2(LTO)/LiFePO4(LFP)-based electrodes.Excellent mechanical flexibility(<10 mm bending radius)can be achieved.The electrochemical characteristics of electrolyte,including ion conductivity,physical stability during room-temperature and ten der assembly processes,are promising.A complete thin film-shape FSLB dem on strated working operati on both un der plan ar a nd bending con ditions.The unique architecture and assembly processes ope n new ways for plan ar flexible devices to be in teg rated with flexible en ergy devices. 展开更多

A series of cathodes with MnO2catalysts of metal fuel battery were prepared.The catalyst slurry was treated by ultrasonic dispersion under the ultrasonic time of 20 min,40 min and 60 min.The cathodes were also dried with the temperature of 90°C,120°C and 150°C.Besides,the microstructures of the cathodes and discharging performance were investigated.The results indicated that the ultrasonic time and drying temperature had a remarkable in fluence on the electric current densities,but had little effect on the open-circuit voltage.The effects of oxygen on the current density and voltage of cathode were also studied,and it was found that the method of blowing oxygen to cathode could increase the current density of the metal fuel battery. 展开更多

Designing a nuclear battery based on the Mo-99 radioactive source soluble in water and aqua regia in order to use in early tests 预览

Today, millions of electrocommunication, electric, medical, and industrial devices use battery. Batteries with long life and high energy density seem to be essential in medical, military, oil and mining, aerospace areas as well as conditions in which access is difficult and in situations where replacement or recharging of battery is costly. In this regard, the use of radiation energy resulting from radioactive materials and its conversion to electric energy can be effective in making batteries. In the present study, various Mo-99 radioisotope values with a half-life of 65.98 h were used as a soluble radioactive source in two materials of water and aqua regia. Then, by comparing the results of the Monte Carlo simulations program MCNPX for these two solutions, it was found that when the water is used instead of aqua regia (for idealization), the values of the superficial current of electrons, the volumetric flux of electrons, and the deposited energy in the volume containing the radioactive solution increased by 10.80, 4.10, and 13.80%, respectively. Also, the short-circuit current and energy conversion efficiency of this battery with a concentration of 0.01 molar, Mo-99 dissolved in the aqua regia are 0.79 lA and 16.47%, respectively. 展开更多

Lithium titanium oxide(Li4Ti5O12,LTO),a‘zero-strain’anode material for lithium-ion batteries,exhibits excellent cycling performance.However,its poor conductivity highly limits its applications.Here,the structural stability and conductivity of LTO were studied using in situ high-pressure measurements and first-principles calculations.LTO underwent a pressure-induced amorphization(PIA)at 26.9 GPa.The impedance spectroscopy revealed that the conductivity of LTO improved significantly after amorphization and that the conductivity of decompressed amorphous LTO increased by an order of magnitude compared with its starting phase.Furthermore,our calculations demonstrated that the different compressibility of the Li O6 and Ti O6 octahedra in the structure was crucial for the PIA.The amorphous phase promotes Li+ diffusion and enhances its ionic conductivity by providing defects for ion migration.Our results not only provide an insight into the pressure depended structural properties of a spinel-like material,but also facilitate exploration of the interplay between PIA and conductivity. 展开更多

This paper proposes a design and control approach to parallel resonant converter(PRC) based battery chargers.The proposed approach is particularly suitable for the constant-current constant-voltage(CC-CV)charging method, which is the most commonly utilized one.Since the PRC is operated at two different frequencies for each CC and CV charging modes, this approach eliminates the need for complicated control techniques such as the frequency-control and phase-shift-control.The proposed method not only simplifies the design and implementation processes of the converter unit but also simplifies the design of output filter configuration and decreases the number of the required components for the control of the charger.The proposed method is confirmed by two experimental setups.The results show that the designed charger circuit ensured a very stable constant current in CC charging phase, where the charging current is fixed to 1.75 A.Although a voltage increase in CV phase is observed, the charger circuit is able to decrease the charging current to 0.5 A in CV phase, as depicted in battery data-sheet.The efficiency of the charger is figured out to be in the range of 86%-93% in the first setup, while it is found to be in the range of 78%-88% in the second setup,where a high frequency transformer is employed. 展开更多
