A twist sensor with hybrid few-mode tilted fiber Bragg grating(FM-TFBG) and few-mode long period grating(FM-LPG) in fiber laser cavity is demonstrated. The FM-LPG is utilized to excite LP11 core mode. The FM-TFBG is used for sensing. The transverse modes at 1 553.9 nm and 1 550.5 nm are LP01 and LP21 core modes, respectively, which are coupled from forward-propagating LP11 core mode. These two excitation wavelengths have opposite variation tendencies, which participate in sensing. The twist sensitivity of 0.16 dB/° from-40° to 40° is achieved. The proposed sensor has potentially used for structure monitoring in many areas. 展开更多

为拓宽活性材料对太阳光谱的吸收范围,实现器件的宽谱吸收增强,本文提出一种基于光栅结构的新型有机太阳能电池器件,该器件在一个周期内引入不同占空比的光栅来构成级联光栅。本文采用时域有限差分法从理论上研究了级联光栅结构对器件... 为拓宽活性材料对太阳光谱的吸收范围,实现器件的宽谱吸收增强,本文提出一种基于光栅结构的新型有机太阳能电池器件,该器件在一个周期内引入不同占空比的光栅来构成级联光栅。本文采用时域有限差分法从理论上研究了级联光栅结构对器件吸收性能的影响,结果表明该结构可激发多个表面等离激元谐振,这些不同波长下的谐振模式可以在吸收光谱中同时存在,从而实现宽谱吸收增强。考虑太阳光谱的影响,在TM和TM/TE混合偏振模式下,活性材料的整体吸收效率从等效平板结构的23.9%分别提高到54.2%和36.4%,分别增强126.8%和52.3%,且基于该级联光栅结构的太阳能电池器件可实现在0到65度入射角范围内的广角吸收。此外,在TM偏振模式下,该器件的吸收性能对光栅参数微小误差变化的敏感性较低,适用于实际纳米器件的制备。这项工作的理论结果有助于纳米金属光栅在有机太阳能电池中的应用提供新的理论指导。 展开更多

The excitation mechanism of surface plasmon polaritons(SPPs)in a surface plasmon sensor with a one-dimensional(1D)Au diffraction grating on a glass substrate is studied herein.The sensitivity of the sensor for application to a refractometer is also characterized.The SPPs are excited at the following two types of interface:one between the Au grating and the glass substrate and the other between the Au grating and the medium.The simulation data for the transmittance spectra and the transmittance mapping are consistent With the experimental data even when the refractive index of the solution medium is 1.700.Therefore,the excitation mechanism of the SPPs in a surface plasmon sensor is capable of detecting the medium(n=1.700),in which the sensor is used and clarified. 展开更多

The improved performance of a wavelength-tunable arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) is demonstrated, including the crosstalk, insertion loss and the wavelength tuning efficiency. A reduced impact of the fabrication process on the AWG is achieved by the design of bi-level tapers. The wavelength tuning of the AWG is achieved according to the thermo-optic effect of silicon, and uniform heating of the silicon waveguide layer is achieved by optimizing the heater design. The fabricated AWG shows a minimum crosstalk of 16 dB, a maximum insertion loss of 3.91 dB and a wavelength tuning efficiency of 8.92 nm/W, exhibiting a ~8 dB improvement of crosstalk, ~2.1 dB improvement of insertion loss and ~5 nm/W improvement of wavelength tuning efficiency, compared to our previous reported results. 展开更多

Deformation behavior of non-rigid airships in wind tunnel tests is studied by considering three factors, including internal pressure, flow velocity and angle of attack. Fiber Bragg grating strain sensors are used to measure the deformation of non-rigid airships. Wind tunnel tests in the case of different flow velocities and angles of attack are conducted. The measurement results reveal that the airship deformation is in proportion to internal pressure. For the tensile region,the airship deformation is in proportion to flow velocity. Effects of angle of attack on structural deformation are more complicated and there is no clear relationship existing between airship deformation and angle of attack. 展开更多

Finally, the proposed method applied to DEPCI experiment demonstrates the effectiveness of the method. Quantum light sources serve as one of the key elements in quantum photonic technologies. Such sources made from semiconductor material, e.g., quantum dots (QDs), are particularly appealing because of their great potential of scalability enabled by the modern planar nanofabrication technologies. So far, non-classic light sources based on semiconductor QDs are currently outperforming their counterparts using nonlinear optical process, for instance, parametric down conversion and four-wave mixing. To fully exploring the potential of semiconductor QDs, it is highly desirable to integrate QDs with a variety of photonic nanostructures for better device performance due to the improved light-matter interaction. Among different designs, the photonic nanostructures exhibiting broad operation spectral range is particularly interesting to overcome the QD spectral inhomogeneity and exciton fine structure splitting for the generations of single-photon and entangled photon pair respectively. In this review, we focus on recent progress on high-performance semiconductor quantum light sources that is achieved by integrating single QDs with a variety of broadband photonic nanostructures i.e. waveguide, lens and low-Q cavity. 展开更多

针对人工测量球笼效率低、难度大、精度不足等缺点,研制了一台中心高及偏心测量仪。该仪器采用立式结构,主要由机械系统、测控系统和计算机系统三部分组成。介绍了仪器的测量原理和工作原理,运用长光栅测量方法设计了测量导轨组件、测... 针对人工测量球笼效率低、难度大、精度不足等缺点,研制了一台中心高及偏心测量仪。该仪器采用立式结构,主要由机械系统、测控系统和计算机系统三部分组成。介绍了仪器的测量原理和工作原理,运用长光栅测量方法设计了测量导轨组件、测杆组件和光栅传感器组件等关键机械结构。通过采用步进电机驱动测头沿被测球面母线运动的方式,实时采集X、Z两路光栅信号,再经测量软件分析处理,实现了球笼中外套、内套、保持架等零件中心高和偏心的自动测量,可判断零件是否合格。结果表明:该仪器性能稳定、测量精度高、重复性好,测量结果评价准确,可用于汽车球笼快速精密测量,也适用于其它球面类零件测量。 展开更多

An on-chip, high extinction ratio transverse electric(TE)-pass polarizer using a silicon hybrid plasmonic grating is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Utilizing plasmonics to manipulate the effective index and mode distribution, the transverse magnetic mode is reflected and absorbed, while the TE mode passes through with relatively low propagation loss. For a 6-μm-long device, the measurement result shows that the extinction ratio in the wavelength range of 1.52 to 1.58 μm varies from 24 to 33.7 dB and the insertion loss is 2.8–4.9 dB. Moreover,the structure exhibits large alignment tolerance and is compatible with silicon-on-insulator fabrication technology. 展开更多

According to the description of the scalar diffraction theory, the numerical simulation for diffraction properties of the TSG has been studied for years. However, the fabrication of the TSG is difficult and seldom reported. In this article, a TSG is designed and an approach of the X-ray LIGA process is used to fabricate the TSG and the device can obtain the brightest diffraction peaks at the ±1 order with the zero-order diffraction peak unobvious on the background for a certain wavelength of the incident light. 展开更多

The pre-treatment of few-mode fibers (FMFs) has been successfully done with CO2 laser The wavelength difference, AA between the two resonant wavelengths in the few-mode fiber Bragg grating (FMFBG) varies with temperature increment during the annealing process. The results show that the treated fibers with lower stresses have lower thermal sensitivity in △λ than that of non-treated fiber. However, the treated fibers produce FMFBGs with better thermal durability and regeneration ratio. It is conceived that the presence of those stresses in the pristine fiber is responsible for the high thermal sensitivity in △λ. The thennal relaxation of stresses and structural rearrangement during the thennal annealing process are responsible for the degradation of the strength and resilience of the regenerated grating. 展开更多
