With an aging patient population and an increased burden of neurological disease,the demand for noninvasive alternatives to open neurosurgical procedures is imperative.Noninvasive or minimally invasive approaches to targeting brain regions include transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS),transcranial direct current stimulation,temporally interfering electric fields,and focused ultrasound(FUS).Among these modalities,FUS offers a unique combination of target specificity,deep brain penetration,and compatibility with real-time structural and thermal monitoring using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and MR thermometry.Depending on the intensity and frequency used,ultrasound can have either modulating or ablative effects on brain tissue.High-intensity MR-guided FUS(MRgFUS)is a noninvasive and effective alternative to conventional deep-brain stimulation and radiofrequency lesioning for essential tremor(ET),and is being investigated for other movement disorders,particularly Parkinson’s disease.Wider clinical implementation of high-intensity ultrasound is challenged by limitations in target selection precision,technical barriers(such as variable penetration and heat deposition)and the possibility of lesion-related adverse effects(Schwartz et al.,2018).Emerging studies,including those from our group(Boutet et al.,2018)are striving to refine targeting of MRgFUS to improve safety and patient clinical outcomes.At the same time,low-intensity FUS(LIFUS)has been found to safely modulate brain activity in rodents,primates,and healthy human subjects(Fomenko et al.,2018).Clinical translation of LIFUS has been hampered however,by a poor understanding of the mechanisms of action,uncertainty over effective sonication parameters and intensities,and conflicting study results due to heterogeneous experimental protocols.In this perspective,the current state of both MRgFUS ablation and LIFUS neuromodulation will be presented.Ongoing technical challenges to delivering ultrasound to the brain,recent innovations in target and parameter selectio 展开更多

In 2018, China’s industrial textile industry has maintained a relatively rapid growth throughout the year, and the quality and efficiency of the operation of the industry is in a stable range. According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, the industrial added value of enterprises above designated size increased by 8.6% year-on-year, 4.6 percentage points higher than in 2017. The recovery of the growth rate of industrial added value shows that the overall benefit of the industry has improved significantly. According to the survey of China Nonwovens & Industrial Textile Association, the prosperity index of industry enterprises in 2018 is 75.4, which is lower than that of the whole year, but still in a relatively high prosperity range. 展开更多

LRRK2 contains several domains involved in protein-protein interactions, however, the presence of both a kinase and GTPase domain points to intracellular signaling functions (Marin, 2006). While LRRK2 has been linked to several molecular pathways important for neuronal activity (Martin et al., 2014), the observation that its expression is high in microglia has attracted the attention of different groups to understand whether LRRK2 dysfunctions in these cells may impact neuronal activity as secondary event. 展开更多

However, the potential biomarker role of olfactory dysfunction in PD has been a topic of great interest in the last years (Raskin et al., 1990;Dickson et al., 2018). The classical hypothesis of Braak suggests that PD begins as a synucleinopathy in the lower brainstem or in the olfactory bulb (OB) that progresses rostrally to the SN and amygdala to cause parkinsonism at a later stage of the disease (Burke et al., 2008). 展开更多

Major obstacles to the realization of this integration are size mismatch between electronic and photonic circuits, as well as issues with ever-increasing requirements for energy efficiency, bandwidth, optical loss, and drive voltage. Another important issue is the absence of photonic materials that make such integration commercially possible in foundry-compatible processes. Future integration involves combination of various materials and platforms. During the last decade there has been an increasing interest in exploiting various photonic platforms to overcome these obstacles. Integration of silicon photonics[1–3] with technologies such as plasmonics[4–6], photonic crystal architectures[7], and hybrid materials[8] have been widely pursued for photonic integration. 展开更多

The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB) is located at the Pearl River Estuary on the southeast coast of China;it is the longest as-build marine crossings made of island, tunnel, and bridge. It links Hong Kong in the east with Zhuhai–Macao in the west with a total length of 55 km. The link was built according to the highway standard of six lanes with three lanes going each way;it has a design speed of 100 km·h^-1 and a design life of 120 years. The HZMB has improved traffic conditions on the east and west sides of the coast of the Pearl River Estuary and strengthened the communication, transportation, and economic integration of the three regions, thus accelerating the formation of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. This paper introduces the design and construction of the HZMB, with a focus on the new technologies involved in building the artificial islands and immersed tunnel. 展开更多

As the DPRK shifts its strategic focus to economic development, the tension on the Peninsula has eased remarkably, which was unseen for many years and has far-reaching implications for Northeast Asian political landscape. During the 20th century the global climate has been shifted towards warmer and drier regimes, mainly due to anthropogenic warming [1,2]. Climate changes can notably disrupt the environment and ecosystems. To evaluate the impacts of climate change on ecoregions, the Kdppen-Trewartha (K-T) climate classification [3] is widely used because it was constructed on the basis of surface vegetation. The K-T classification system combines temperature, precipitation, and their seasonality into a single metric. Six major climate types and several sub-climate types are defined (A: tropical, B: dry, C: subtropical, D: temperate, E: subpolar, F: polar). Each K-T climate type is consistent with certain prevalent plant species. Definitions and criteria of K-T climate types were outlined by Feng et al.[4]. 展开更多

Summary of main observation and conclusion In order to make visible light harvest crystalline polyoxo‐titanium clusters, we initially used transition metal pivalate complexes in this system and prepared successfully two isostructural compounds,[Ti10M2(PPO)4(μ3‐O)8(μ2‐O)4(PA)12(MeCN)4]·4HPA (PPOA = phenylphosphonic acid, HPA = propionic acid, M = Ni, PTC‐52‐Ni;M = Co PTC‐52‐Co). Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction study showed that these two complexes possessed wheel‐shape heterometallic Ti10M2‐oxo clusters. The absorption bands of these two compounds shift effectively toward the visible‐light region. Furthermore, their photocurrent response has also been studied. 展开更多
