This paper aims to establish a dialogue between contemporary research on the problem of other minds and classical Chinese philosophical theories.It first explores the idea,inspired by the recent discovery of the mirror neuron mechanism,that a direct exchange of experience may occur between the observer and the observed.Next,it analyzes the ways in which the ancient Chinese philosopher Zhuangzi and Confucian thinkers reflected on the problem of other minds,which are quite similar to the idea inspired by the latest research on mirror neurons.In these thinkers’views,knowledge of other minds is the result of mental activity and what it provides is,to a large extent,something related not to epistemology but rather to a situational understanding of other minds from the perspective of value theory.The author points out that this solution takes two aspects,humans9 innate nature and human experience,into consideration simultaneously.In terms of humans,innate nature,the body of a human being is a body that represents the unity of man and nature,and it has something in common with the natural world,which lays a foundation for the perception of other minds.In terms of human experience,human beings have such actual needs as emotions,pursuits,and desires,and their behaviors need to conform to certain norms.It is in a body of this kind that the mind of human beings can be formed and enjoy the potential to develop.Effective interpersonal communication can thus be achieved. 展开更多

In this paper, exact travelling wave solutions of the higher order dispersive Cubic-quintic nonlinear Schr&#246;dinger equation and the generalized nonlinear Schr&#246;dinger equation are studied by using the two methods. Finally, the solitary wave solutions, singular soliton solutions, bright and dark soliton solutions and periodic solutions of the two nonlinear Schr&#246;dinger equations are obtained. The results show that this method is effective for solving exact solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations. 展开更多

In order to overcome the difficulty in solving the boundary value problem of electrostatic field with complex boundary and to give a new method for solving the third boundary value problem of Laplace’s equation, in this paper, the third boundary value problem of Laplace’s equation is studied by combining conformal mapping with theoretical analysis, the several analytical solutions of third boundary value problems of Laplace’s equation are gives, the correctness of its solution is verified through computer numerical simulation, and a new idea and method for solving the third boundary value problem of Laplace’s equation is obtained. In this paper, the boundary condition of the solving domain is changed by the appropriate conformal mapping, so that the boundary value problem on the transformed domain is easy to be solved or be known, and then the third kind boundary value of the Laplace’s equation can be solved easily;its electric potential distribution is known. Furthermore, the electric field line and equipotential line are plotted by using the MATLAB software. 展开更多

Background: The Chapman-Richards distribution is developed as a special case of the equilibrium solution to the McKendrick-Von Foerster equation. The Chapman-Richards distribution incorporates the vital rate assumptions of the Chapman-Richards growth function, constant mortality and recruitment into the mathematical form of the distribution. Therefore, unlike 'assumed' distribution models, it is intrinsically linked with the underlying vital rates for the forest area under consideration. Methods: It is shown that the Chapman-Richards distribution can be recast as a subset of the generalized beta distribution of the first kind, a rich family of assumed probability distribution models with known properties. These known properties for the generalized beta are then immediately available for the Chapman-Richards distribution, such as the form of the compatible basal area-size distribution. A simple two-stage procedure is proposed for the estimation of the model parameters and simulation experiments are conducted to validate the procedure for four different possible distribution shapes. Results: The simulations explore the efficacy of the two-stage estimation procedure;these cover the estimation of the growth equation and mortality-recruitment derives from the equilibrium assumption. The parameter estimates are shown to depend on both the sample size and the amount of noise imparted to the synthetic measurements. The results vary somewhat by distribution shape, with the smaller, noisier samples providing less reliable estimates of the vital rates and final distribution forms. Conclusions: The Chapman-Richards distribution in its original form, or recast as a generalized beta form, presents a potentially useful model integrating vital rates and stand diameters into a flexible family of resultant distributions shapes. The data requirements are modest, and parameter estimation is straightforward provided the minimal recommended sample sizes are obtained. 展开更多

This paper studies online scheduling of jobs with kind release times on a single machine.Here“kind release time”means that in online setting,no jobs can be released when the machine is busy.Each job J has a kind release time r(J)≥0,a processing time p(J)>0 and a deadline d(J)>0.The goal is to determine a schedule which maximizes total processing time (∑p(J)E(J)) or total number (∑E(J)) of the accepted jobs.For the first objective function ∑p(J)E(J),we first present a lower bound √2,and then provide an online algorithm LEJ with a competitive ratio of 3.This is the first deterministic algorithm for the problem with a constant competitive ratio.When p(J)∈{1,k},k>1 is a real number,we first present a lower bound minf(1+k)/k,2k/(1+k)g,and then we show that LEJ has a competitive ratio of 1+┌k┐=k.In particular,when all the k length jobs have tight deadlines,we first present a lower bound max{4=(2+k),1}(for ∑p(J)E(J))and 4/3(for ∑E(J)).Then we prove that LEJ is┌k┐/k-competitive for ∑p(J)E(J) and we provide an online algorithm H with a competitive ratio of 2┌k┐/(┌k┐+1)for the second objective function ∑E(J). 展开更多

Low earth orbit satellites,with unique advantages,are prosperous types of navigation augmentation satellites for the GNSS satellites constellations.The broadcast ephemeris element needs to be designed as an important index of the augmented LEOs.The GPS ephemerides of 16/18 elements cannot be directly applied to the LEOs because of the poor fitting accuracies in along-track positional component.Besides,the ill-conditioned problem of the normal-matrix exists in fitting algorithm due to the small eccentricity of the LEO orbits.Based on the nonsingular orbital elements,5 sets of ephemerides with element numbers from 16 to 19 were designed respectively by adding or modifying orbital elements magnifying the along-track and radial positional components.The fitting experiments based on the LEO of 300 to 1500 km altitudes show that the fitting UREs of the proposed 16/17/18/18*/19-element ephemerides are better than 10/6/4/5/2.5 cm,respectively.According to the dynamical range of the fitting elements,the interfaces were designed for the 5 sets of ephemerides.The effects of data truncation on fitting UREs are at millimeter level.The total bits are 329/343/376/379/396,respectively.29/15 bits are saved for the 16/17-element ephemerides compared with the GPS16 ephemeris,while 64/61/41 bits can be saved for the 18/18*/19-element ephemerides compared with the GPS18 elements ephemeris. 展开更多
