Fish, as one of the fishery resources, is an important constituent of the diet of the Amazon population, as it is the source of several nutritional components. The present work aimed to characterize the centesimal composition of Plagioscion squamosissimus fillet (n = 10) and Macrobrachium amazonicum meat (n = 82), species acquired in the estuarine region of the state of Amapá, Brazil. Carcass yield, as well as protein, water content, lipids and ashes was determined according to the methodologies proposed by the Adolf Lutz Institute, as well as carbohydrate and caloric determinations. The analyses were performed in triplicate per sample. After comparing with the literature, it was possible to conclude that P. squamosissimus presented a fillet yield of 31.11%± 0.61%, high protein content (15.99 ± 1.26 g/100 g) and humidity (79.40 ± 1.10 g/100 g), moderate contents of mineral residues (1.10 ± 0.07 g/100 g) and carbohydrates (0.96 ± 0.90 g/100 g), low lipid contents (2.29 ± 0.65 g/100 g), as well as low caloric values (385,018.12 J/100 g) and M. amazonicum a meat yield of 44.12%± 8.34%, high levels of protein (22.81 ± 1.72 g/100 g), carbohydrates (1.92 ± 1.61 g/100 g) and mineral residues (1.76 ± 0.78 g/100 g), moderate water content (73.38 ± 0.78 g/100 g), low lipid levels (0.43 ± 0.08 g/100 g), as well as low caloric values (440,786.3 J/100 g). The results obtained in this work can serve as a subsidy in nutritional diets for humans, thus allowing an adequate dietary use of these species. 展开更多

Effect of enteral and parenteral nutritional diet intervention on recovery, nutritional status and immune functi on for gastric cancer patients after radical gastrectomy

Objective:To explore the effect of enteral and parenteral nutritional diet intervention on recovery, nutritional status and immune function for gastric cancer patients after radical gastrectomy.Methods:A total of 180 patients with gastric cancer treated in our hospital from January 2016 to December 2017 were selected, and randomly divided into the control group and the observation group by computer, each with 90 cases. Control group received parenteral nutrition intervention, and observation group received enteral and parenteral nutritional diet intervention. Cellular immune function, humoral immune function, nutritional status, and complications occurrence rate were compared between two groups.Results: The levels of cellular immune function between the two groups had no difference before intervention (P>0.05). After intervention, the observation group had higher levels of CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ as well as lower level of CD8+ than those of control group (P<0.05). The IgM, IgA, and IgG levels between the two groups had no difference before treatment (P>0.05), which were decreased after treatment (P<0.05), and were lower in the observation group than those in the control group (P<0.05). The albumin and prealbumin levels between the two groups had no difference before intervention (P>0.05), which were increased after treatment, and were higher in observation group than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of enteral and parenteral nutritional diet intervention can promote the recovery, improve the nutritional status and immune function for gastric cancer patients after radical gastrectomy, which has fewer complications. 展开更多

The use of herbal products is increasing in trend globally, with over 75% of the world population using them. In Nigeria, these drinks are popular in many neighbourhoods and sold by vendors in motor parks where commercial drivers have access to them. Though they may have some beneficial effects, they are not completely harmless. This study was carried out to assess the association of Paraga (herbal mixture) consumption and dietary lifestyle on the nutritional status of commercial motor drivers in Ibadan municipality. This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out among four hundred and twenty-two (422) commercial drivers randomly selected from the five local government areas that make up Ibadan municipality. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. Descriptive statistics and Chi square test were carried out on the data obtained at 5% level of significance. There was a high prevalence of Paraga consumption among the respondents. There was inadequate nutrient intake among the respondents for most nutrients considered. The nutritional status measurement of the respondents revealed that 4.5% were underweight, 59.6% had normal weight, 26.8% were overweight, while 9.1% were obese. There was no significant association between Paraga consumption and nutritional status of respondents (p > 0.05). However, a significant association was observed between dietary lifestyle pattern and nutritional status of respondents (p < 0.05). It is therefore important that commercial drivers be given regular and constant nutrition education during their meetings to help improve their dietary lifestyle. Also, the concerned government agencies/officials should assist in reducing Paraga consumption by helping to reduce alcohol availability at motor parks, and by educational measures to reduce its demand and consumption. 展开更多

Chemical composition (moisture, protein, starch, ash, fiber, fat), vitamins (vitamin C, vitamin B1, vitamin B2), total polyphenol content, antioxidant capacity, minerals, and amino acid of 14 potato cultivars in China were evaluated. The results indicated that all parameters varied significantly among different potato cultivars. The total starch, crude protein and fat content ranged between 57.42–67.83%, 10.88–14.10% and 0.10–0.73% dry weight (DW), respectively. Moreover, the consumption of potato increased remarkably the dietary intake of vitamins, K, Mn and Cu. In addition, the chemical score of amino acid varied considerably between different cultivars, which ranged from 54 (Neida 3 and Neida 41) to 71 (Neida 34). Grey relational analysis (GRA) indicated that Neida 26 exhibited the most comprehensive nutritional values among potato cultivars, followed by Neida 42. Different potato flours had a significant effect on the quality parameters of potato steamed bread (PSB), Neida 26 and Neida 34 were more suitable for making PSB. 展开更多

Mistletoes are parasite plants growing on various tree species,taking nutrients from the host.Beneficial compounds of mistletoe were used in medicine and these mistletoes were commonly collected from oak species that were not well identified.We analyzed the nutritional value by measuring proximate and mineral components of Korean mistletoe(Viscum album var.coloratum)from various host trees.Carbohydrate was the most proximate component in both leaves and twigs followed crude protein,crude fiber,crude ash and crude fat.While the contents of the proximate components and minerals varied among hosts and between plant parts,leaves contained higher crude protein and ash,and more minerals except for magnesium than twigs,although no significant difference was found inmistletoe grown on Prunus mandshurica.There were significant differences of proximate and mineral contents depending on the host species.Mistletoe grown on Chaenomeles sinensis contained higher levels of carbohydrates,crude fat,crude ash,magnesium,calcium,sodium,iron,and zinc than mistletoe grown on other species.Mistletoe grown on P.mandshurica contained high mineral levels of potassium,copper and phosphorous.The nutritional value of mistletoes were greatly influenced by the host species but among the hosts,specific nutrients accumulated in leaves more than in twigs,and vice versa.Based on the analysis,Korean mistletoe contains relatively good quality of nutrients and has high potential for dietary supplements as well as for medicinal compounds. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)presents an inflammatory picture that in the long run can lead to complications and consequently more hospitalizations compared to other diseases.AIM To evaluate the influence of nutritional status on the occurrence of IBD-related hospitalization.METHODS This integrative review was conducted in the online databases PubMed and MEDLINE,using the terms“obesity”and“malnutrition”accompanied by“hospitalization”,each combined with“Crohn’s disease”or“ulcerative colitis”.Only studies conducted with humans,adults,and published in English or Spanish were selected,and those that were not directly associated with nutritional status and hospitalization were excluded from this review.The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes guide was used as the basis for selection of studies.RESULTS Of the 80 studies identified,only five met the proposal of this review.None evaluated the association of good nutritional status with the risk of hospitalization.Malnutrition had a strong correlation with the risk of hospitalization related to IBD,and there was disagreement among three studies regarding the association of obesity and hospitalization rates.CONCLUSION Few studies have evaluated nutritional status as a predictor of IBD-related hospitalization.The presence of malnutrition appears to be associated with hospitalization in these patients,but further studies are needed to elucidate the issue. 展开更多

Studies have reported an associat... BACKGROUND Pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD) is a complex surgical procedure with a high morbidity rate. The serious complications are major risk factors for poor longterm surgical outcome. Studies have reported an association between early postoperative prognostic nutritional index(PNI) and prediction of severe complications after abdominal surgery. However, there have been no studies on the use of early postoperative PNI for predicting serious complications following PD.AIM To analyze the risk factors and early postoperative PNI for predicting severe complications following PD.METHODS We retrospectively analyzed 238 patients who underwent PD at our hospital between January 2007 and December 2017. The postoperative complications were classified according to the Dindo-Clavien classification. Grade Ⅲ-Ⅴ postoperative complications were classified as serious. The risk factors for serious complications were analyzed by univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis.RESULTS Overall complications were detected in 157 of 238 patients(65.9%) who underwent PD. The grade Ⅲ-Ⅴ complication rate was 26.47%(63/238 patients).The mortality rate was 3.7%(9/238 patients). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that preoperative serum albumin [odds ratio(OR): 0.883, 95%confidence interval(CI): 0.80-0.96;P < 0.01] and PNI on postoperative day 3 <40.5(OR: 2.77, 95%CI: 1.21-6.38, P < 0.05) were independent factors associated with grade Ⅲ-Ⅴ postoperative complications.CONCLUSION Perioperative albumin is an important factor associated with serious complications following PD. Low early postoperative PNI(< 40.5) is a predictor for serious complications. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Preoperative supplementation with immunonutrients, including arginine and n-3 fatty acids, has been shown in a number of systematic reviews to reduce infectious complications in patients who have undergone gastrointestinal surgery. Limited information, however, is available on the benefits of nutritional supplementation enriched with arginine and n-3 fatty acids in patients undergoing liver resection. AIM To evaluate the effects of preoperative nutritional supplementation enriched with arginine and n-3 fatty acids on inflammatory and immunologic markers and clinical outcome in patients undergoing liver resection. METHODS Thirty-four patients undergoing liver resection were randomized to either five days of preoperative Impact?[1020 kcal/d, immunonutrition (IMN) group], or standard care [no supplementation, standard care (STD) group]. Nutritional status was measured at study entry by subjective global assessment (SGA).Functional assessments (grip strength, fatigue and performance status) were carried out at study entry, on the day prior to surgery, and on postoperative day (POD) 7 and 30. Inflammatory and immune markers were measured at study entry, on the day prior to surgery, and POD 1, 3, 5, 7, 10 and 30. Postoperative complications were recorded prospectively until POD30. RESULTS A total of 32 patients (17 IMN and 15 STD) were analysed. All except four patients were SGA class A. The plasma ratio of (eicosapentaenoic acid plus docosahexaenoic acid) to arachidonic acid was higher in IMN patients on the day prior to surgery and POD 1, 3, 5 and 7 (P < 0.05). Plasma interleukin (IL)-6 concentrations were elevated in the IMN group (P = 0.017 for POD7). No treatment effect was detected for functional measures, immune response (white cell count and total lymphocytes) or markers of inflammation (C-reactive protein, tumour necrosis factor-α, IL-8, IL-10). Ogi an affordable complementary food is of paramount importance due to its popularity as diets of many native African populations.The study explored effects of biofortification with garlic and ginger on acceptability and nutritional quality of ogi flour prepared from sorghum and quality protein maize by natural fermentation technique.Pasting properties,bulk density,water absorption capacity,total reducing sugar and sensory characteristics were evaluated.Biofortified samples showed stable total reducing sugar content,increase in bulk density,decrease in water absorption capacity and peak time during storage.The pasting temperatures of biofortified ogi flour were below boiling temperature thus formed paste in hot water below the boiling point.Ogi(maize)with 2%garlic-2%ginger and ogi(sorghum)with 4%garlic-2%ginger were the most preferred with no significant difference(p<0.05).Biofortification with garlic and ginger at 2 and 4%improved the quality attributes and acceptability of ogi flour.The study on biofortification of ogi with garlic and ginger is germane in formulation of nourishing weaning food that is light,less bulky for babies,nursing mothers and malnourished populations. 展开更多

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the effect of simultaneous cholecystectomy on the short-term postoperative outcomes and nutritional status in patients with gastric cancer.Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data from 4,820 patients with gastric cancer who underwent gastrectomy from January 2011 to December 2016. Patients who underwent only gastrectomy(N=4,578) were matched to those who underwent simultaneous cholecystectomy during gastrectomy(N=242) at a 1:1 ratio using propensity score matching analysis. The nutritional status and inflammatory responses preoperatively and postoperatively and postoperative outcomes were compared between the groups.Results: The simultaneous cholecystectomy group showed more intraoperative blood loss and a longer operative time than the gastrectomy only group [150.0(100.0, 200.0) m L vs. 100.0(100.0, 200.0) m L, P=0.006;176.0(150.0,210.0) min vs. 155.0(128.0, 188.0) min, P<0.001, respectively]. Intraoperative event rate, postoperative complication rate, and postoperative recovery did not differ between the groups. All parameters including body weight, the hemoglobin level, absolute lymphocyte count, total protein level, albumin level, fasting glucose level,and prognostic nutritional index excluding the cholesterol level were not significantly different between the groups,and their changing patterns were similar. Although the cholesterol level was significantly lower in the simultaneous cholecystectomy group than in the gastrectomy only group at all follow-up points, the mean value of the decreased cholesterol level was within normal range.Conclusions: In gastric cancer patients with gallbladder disease, simultaneous cholecystectomy is safe and not associated with additional nutritional loss. 展开更多

Background: Pregnancy and early life are critical periods of plasticity during which the fetus and neonate may be influenced by environmental factors such as nutrition.Maternal methionine(Met) supply in non-ruminants during pregnancy can affect offspring development and growth.Thus,the objective of this study was to investigate if increasing Met supply during late-pregnancy affects developmental parameters of the calf at birth and if either maternal Met or colostrum from Met-fed cows alters calf growth.Calves born to Holstein cows individually-fed a basal control [CON;1.47 Mcal/kg dry matter(DM) and 15.3% crude protein] diet with no added Met or CON plus ethylcellulose rumen-protected Met(MET;Mepron? at 0.09% of diet DM;Evonik Nutrition & Care GmbH,Germany)during the last 28 ± 2 d of pregnancy were used.A total of 39 calves were in CON(n = 22 bulls,17 heifers) and 42 in MET(n = 20 bulls,22 heifers).At birth,calves were randomly allocated considering dam treatment and colostrum as fol ows: 1) calves from CON cows and colostrum from CON cows(n = 21);2) calves from CON cows and colostrum from MET cows(n = 18);3) calves from MET cows and colostrum from MET cows(n = 22);and 4) calves from MET cows and colostrum from CON cows(n = 20).Al calves were housed,managed,and fed individual y during the first 9 wk of life.Results: Despite greater daily DM intake pre-partum in cows fed MET(15.7 vs.14.4 ± 0.12 kg/d,P < 0.05),colostrum quality and quantity were not affected by maternal diet.At birth,MET calves had greater(P ≤ 0.05) body weight(BW,44.1 vs.42.1 ± 0.70 kg),hip height(HH,81.3 vs.79.6 ± 0.53 cm) and wither height(WH,77.8 vs.75.9 ± 0.47 cm).In contrast,concentrations of His,Lys,and Asn in plasma were lower(P ≤ 0.05) in MET calves.Regardless of colostrum source,the greater BW,HH,and WH in MET calves at birth persisted through 9 wk of age resulting in average responses of + 3.1 kg BW,+ 1.9 cm HH,and + 1.8 cm WH compared with CON.Average daily gain during the 9 wk was(P < 0.05) 0.72 ± 0.02 kg/d in MET compared wi 展开更多

Analysis of auxiliary diagnosis, cell survival, angiogenesis and nutritional support in patients with oral cancer

Objective:To investigate the changes and clinical significance of auxiliary diagnosis, cell survival, angiogenesis and nutritional support in patients with oral cancer.Methods: 50 patients with oral cancer treated in our hospital from June 2016 to September 2017 were selected as the observation group and 50 healthy people as the control group. The expression levels of auxiliary diagnosis [including secretory immunoglobulin A (SIgA), catalase (CAT)], cell survival [including survivin, focal adhesion kinase (FAK)], angiogenesis [including vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), hepatocyte growth (HGF), urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA)] and nutritional support [including lead (Pb), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu)] related indicators in the two groups were observed and compared.Results:The levels of SIgA [(83.30±6.05) ug/mL], Mg [(1.21±0.17) mmol/L], Fe [(6.75±1.03)mmol/L] and Zn [(87.11±15.31) ug/L] in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05), while the levels of CAT [(39.87±9.18) U/mL], survivin [(131.63±10.53) ng/L], FAK [(62.27±5.20) ng/mL], VEGF[(533.73±150.63)ng/L], HGF[(411.32±181.72)ng/L], uPA[(5.12±1.31)mg/L], Pb[(65.55±20.76)μg/L], Ca[(1.55±0.20)mmol/L] and Cu[(14.90±5.30)μmol/L] were significantly higher than that of the control group. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusions:Patients with oral cancer, the immune function of salivary mucosa decreased and cell survival was abnormal. Oral cancer patients are easy to regenerate tumor blood vessels. Tumor cells and vascular endothelial cells are active in proliferation, migration and invasion. The expression of trace elements is also abnormal, which is not conducive to the nutritional support of the body. The relevant indicators should be strengthened in clinical practice, so as to provide evidence for early diagnosis and treatment of the disease. 展开更多

The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare the efficacy of four screening tools commonly used to evaluate the nutritional status of cancer patients.A total of 173 patients(average age 50.7±12.9,89 males,84 females)with different pathology at admission were assessed using four nutritional screening tools,including the Body Mass Index(BMI),the Nutritional Risk Index(NRI),Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment(PG-SGA),and the Nutrition Risk Screening 2002(NRS 2002).The prevalence of malnourished/at high nutritional risk classified by the BMI,NRI,PG-SGA,and NRS 2002 were 12.7%,32.4%,65.3%,and 20.8%,respectively.Using the PG-SGA as a gold standard,the specificity and positive predictive value of the BMI and NRS 2002 were both 100%.The NRS 2002(K=0.245,P<0.001)and NRI(K=0.301,P<0.001)were found to be in poor agreement with the PG-SGA.The results for the BMI showed a moderate agreement(K=0.713,P<0.001)with the NRS 2002.There was a high prevalence of malnutrition in cancer patients,especially when assessed by the PG-SGA,which was superior to the BMI,NRI,and NRS 2002 in this study.The NRS 2002 may be used to screen for malnutrition and the risk of malnutrition in cancer patients before the implementation of the PG-SGA. 展开更多

Objective To investigate the prevalence of nutritional risk, undernutrition, overweight/obesity, and the application of nutritional support among geriatrics so as to provide evidence for whether elderly inpatients with undernutrition and nutritional risk should receive timely nutritional support. Methods A total of 445 elderly inpatients in the Department of Geriatrics of Peking University People’s Hospital were consecutively enrolled from July 2010 to June 2011. The Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS 2002) questionnaire was used on the second day after admission. The application of nutritional support was investigated on the 14th day or the discharge day. The relationship between the nutritional risk and nutritional support was analyzed. A NRS 2002 score ≥ 3 was defined as nutritional risk. A body mass index (BMI)< 18.5 kg/m2 was defined as malnutrition, 24.0 kg/m2 ≤ BMI < 28.0 kg/m2 as overweight, and a BMI ≥ 28.0 kg/m2 as obese. Results A total of 445 patients were enrolled and 423 patients (95.1%) completed the NRS 2002. The prevalence of undernutrition and nutritional risk was 4.7% and 13.2%, respectively. Among 230 patients who were overweight/obese, the prevalence of nutritional risk was 6.1%. In total, 15 of the 56 patients (26.8%) with NRS 2002 scores ≥ 3 received nutritional support, and 14 patients (3.8%) with NRS 2002 scores < 3 also received nutritional support. The average PN: EN ratio was 1.6:1. Conclusion A certain proportion of elderly inpatients in the department of geriatrics were experiencing undernutrition or were at nutritional risk. The prevalence of nutritional risk did not increase significantly with age. The current application of nutritional therapy is inappropriate. Evidence-based guidelines are required to improve this situation. The NRS 2002 may not applicable for overweight/obese elderly inpatients. 展开更多

The list of underutilized green leafy vegetables is enormous:ranging from commonly consumed and underutilized vegetables.There are data on commonly consumed vegetables,but information is sparse on nutritional,chemical and anti-nutritional properties of less explored vegetables.This work aimed to evaluate some attributes of less explored or underutilized leafy vegetables.Some nutritional and anti-nutritional contents of 10 under-utilized leafy vegetables(Amaranthus spinosus Linnaeus,Basella alba Linnaeus,Corchorous tridens L.,Cyrtosperma senegalense(Schott),Erigeron floribundus Sch,Hoslundia opposita Vahl,Lagenaria siceraria(Molina)Standl,Ocimum basilicum L.,Solanum aethiopicum L.and Talinum portulacifolium(Forssk.)Asch.ex Schweinf)were investigated.Cyrtosperma senegalense had the highest protein value(5.93%).Hoslundia opposita had the highest fat content(0.54%).Amaranthus spinosus was high inβ-carotene content(346.3 mg·100 g-1);Cyrtosperma senegalense had the highest moisture content.A.spinosus had the highest ascorbic acid content(108.1 mg·100 g-1).The highest tannin level(0.0057%)was found in C.senegalense and the lowest(0.0003%)was found in Solanum aethiopicum.Saponin was the highest in C.tridens(0.0052%)and the lowest in T.portulacifolium(0.00014%).C.senegalense and S.aethiopicum had their highest and the lowest phytate values,respectively.Although anti-nutrients could interfere with nutrient utilization,their values in these vegetables were not at toxic levels. 展开更多

The use of chemotherapy drugs may result in gastrointestinal dysfunction, which could affect the absorption and digestion of nutrients, further worsening malnutrition. The purpose of nutritional support in combination with chemotherapy is to ameliorate the nutritional deficiencies of patients and improve their tolerance of chemotherapy, thus improving the quality of life of patients. In this article, the metabolic abnormalities of cancer patients, the effects of malnutrition during chemotherapy and the current research on nutritional support for chemotherapy are reviewed. 展开更多

营养干预治疗急性脑卒中的临床研究

目的通过对急性脑卒中伴吞咽障碍患者进行回顾性分析,了解营养干预对临床预后的影响。方法研究阶段为2015年1月1日-2016年12月31日,共纳入研究对象99例,均为急性脑卒中患者,根据营养干预时间不同进行分组,分为入院24小时组、48小时组、... 目的通过对急性脑卒中伴吞咽障碍患者进行回顾性分析,了解营养干预对临床预后的影响。方法研究阶段为2015年1月1日-2016年12月31日,共纳入研究对象99例,均为急性脑卒中患者,根据营养干预时间不同进行分组,分为入院24小时组、48小时组、7天后组,每组各33例,采取相同的营养干预措施,对比3组吞咽功能、神经功能、营养指标、凝血指标、临床结局。结果入院24小时组吞咽功能改善总有效32例(96.97%)、NIHSS评分(14.87±1.56)与48小时组吞咽功能改善总有效29例(87.88%)、NIHSS评分(19.01±1.66)差异显著,P〈0.05。入院24小时组、48小时组吞咽功能、NIHSS评分分别与7天后组比较,差异显著,P〈0.05。入院24小时组、48小时组Alb、PA、Hb、BTC与7天后组比较,差异显著,P〈0.05。入院24小时组APTT(25.78±5.44)t/s、PT(11.43±2.32)t/s、AT-Ⅲ(0.23±0.066)VU与48小时组APTT(33.05±4.97)t/s、PT(14.21±2.45)t/s、AT-Ⅲ(0.35±0.07)VU差异不显著,P〉0.05。入院24小时组、48小时组APTT、PT、AT-Ⅲ与7天后组比较,差异显著,P〈0.05。入院24小时组并发症发生率1例(3.03%)、卧床时间(4.89±0.13)天与48小时组并发症发生率5例(15.15%)、卧床时间(7.05±0.22)天差异显著,P〈0.05。入院24小时组、48小时组并发症发生率、卧床时间与7天后组比较,差异显著,P〈0.05。结论针对急性脑卒中患者在入院后24开展营养干预可有效改善脑卒中患者预后,比国际指南中提到的入院后24小时-48小时优势明显,可改善患者营养不良情况。 展开更多

Objective To investigate the association between the nutritional status and related factors in patients with Par-kinson's disease(PD).Methods Seventy-two patients with PD(PD group)and 71 age-and sex-matched healthy controls(control group)were enrolled in this study from September 2014 to November 2017 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.Their serum nutritional indices including serum albumin,prealbumin,transferrin,free fatty acid and retinol conjugated protein were collected.The PD participants were interviewed and assessed using motor and non-motor scales,including Hoehn and Yahr stage,Movement Disorder Society-Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale(MDS-UPDRS),Non-Motor Symptoms Questionnaire for Par-kinson's Disease(NMSS),Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE),Unified Dyskinesia Rating Scale(UDysRS)and 39-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire(PDQ-39).Their medication dosage was indicated by daily levodopa equivalent doses(LEDD).Body mass index(BMI)was used to determine their nutritional status,with abnormal nutritional status defined as BMI lower than 20 kg/m^2.Results Levels of serum albumin(41.60(40.28,43.98)g/L vs 44.00(42.30,46.20)g/L,Z=4.500,P<0.01),transferrin((2.32±0.34)g/L vs(2.51±0.34)g/L,t=-3.305,P=0.001),and free fatty acid(418.00(289.75,637.25)μmol/L vs 547.00(386.00,699.00)μmol/L,Z=2.079,P=0.038)of the PD group were significantly lower than those of the control group.There was a significant negative correlation between serum albumin and MDS-UPDRS-Ⅱ score(r=-0.254,P=0.031),MDS-UPDRS-Ⅳ score(r=-0.256,P=0.030),years of dyskinesia(r=-0.240,P=0.043),years of motor fluctuation(r=-0.304,P=0.009)and LEDDs(r=-0.321,P=0.006).Disease duration was negatively correlated with serum albumin(r=-0.285,P=0.015)and transferrin(r=-0.275,P=0.019),and age(r=-0.252,P=0.032)was negatively correlated with prealbumin.The forward binary Logistic regression model indicated that abnormal nutritional status was closely associated with rigidity(OR=1.171,95% CI 1.013-1.354,P=0.032),akinesia(OR=1.070 展开更多
