It is a natural process of the development of technology that isolated findings are synthesized for the solution of problems for each country. We previously introduced an idea to solve one of serious global problems, i.e. energy consumption and risks threating present and future mankind. The Resilient Smart City is one of concepts in the re-adjustment of energy consumption, global warming and the increase of risks. It uses disaster mitigation information, especially the earthquake early warning (EEW) and earthquake predictions. As for EEW, Japan has had an extensive system since 2007, and has proved that the system works well enough to save considerable amount of human lives and important facilities at the times of several major earthquakes. Another tool is nothing but the earthquake prediction. Progress of seismo-electromagnetics can contribute to solving those needs. Here we present a summary of our works concerning earthquake prediction in these 30 years. 展开更多

In this work, the enzymatic hydrolysis reaction of sucrose through invertase under unsteady-state conditions has been investigated. The aim is to evaluate the inhibition phenomena influence on the reaction rate and, then, on the concentration and temperature profiles by simulating the process in a tubular reactor, varying the enzyme concentration and the reactant mixture velocity. The transport phenomena considered during the enzymatic hydrolysis process have been described by means of unsteady-state momentum, mass and energy balance equations, taking into account molecular and convective transport and generation terms. Interpretation and discussion of the results obtained by FEM resolution of PDEs involved allow to understand the relevance of the operating parameters. 展开更多

Hot-formed components are constantly exposed to hostile environments with corrosive substances. Microstructural changes caused by thermomechanical processing can be predicted to increase the corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steels. The objective of this study is to understand the relationship between the dynamic softening mechanisms and corrosion resistance, thus optimizing the hot-forming process. In the current work, the dynamic recrystallization (DRX) behavior of AISI 316 L austenitic stainless steel was studied in the temperature range of 1273 - 1423 K and strain-rate range of 0.1 - 5.0 s-1 using physical simulation. Subsequently, potentiodynamic polarization tests and scanning electron microscopy were performed on the hot-deformed samples to investigate the influence of temperature and strain-rate on the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. The results indicated that the DRX fractions increased under low-temperature and high strain-rate conditions, resulting in grain refinement. The potentiodynamic polarization tests indicated that the dynamically recovered samples demonstrated high resistance to corrosion compared with the DRX samples. The best route found for the investigated alloy was for the strain to be applied at a temperature of 1423 K and a strain rate of 0.1 s-1. 展开更多

World-Universe Model—Alternative to Big Bang Model 认领

This manuscript provides a comparison of the Hypersphere World-Universe Model (WUM) with the prevailing Big Bang Model (BBM) of the Standard Cosmology. The performed analysis of BBM shows that the Four Pillars of the Standard Cosmology are model-dependent and not strong enough to support the model. The angular momentum problem is one of the most critical problems in BBM. Standard Cosmology cannot explain how Galaxies and Extra Solar systems obtained their substantial orbital and rotational angular momenta, and why the orbital momentum of Jupiter is considerably larger than the rotational momentum of the Sun. WUM is the only cosmological model in existence that is consistent with the Law of Conservation of Angular Momentum. To be consistent with this Fundamental Law, WUM discusses in detail the Beginning of the World. The Model introduces Dark Epoch (spanning from the Beginning of the World for 0.4 billion years) when only Dark Matter Particles (DMPs) existed, and Luminous Epoch (ever since for 13.8 billion years). Big Bang discussed in Standard Cosmology is, in our view, transition from Dark Epoch to Luminous Epoch due to Rotational Fission of Overspinning Dark Matter (DM) Supercluster’s Cores. WUM envisions Matter carried from the Universe into the World from the fourth spatial dimension by DMPs. Ordinary Matter is a byproduct of DM annihilation. WUM solves a number of physical problems in contemporary Cosmology and Astrophysics through DMPs and their interactions: Angular Momentum problem in birth and subsequent evolution of Galaxies and Extrasolar systems—how do they obtain it;Fermi Bubbles—two large structures in gamma-rays and X-rays above and below Galactic center;Diversity of Gravitationally-Rounded Objects in Solar system;some problems in Solar and Geophysics [1]. WUM reveals Inter-Connectivity of Primary Cosmological Parameters and calculates their values, which are in good agreement with the latest results of their measurements. 展开更多

Foreshock cavitons are transient phenomena observed in the terrestrial foreshock region.They are characterized by a simultaneous depression of magnetic field magnitude and plasma density,which are bounded with enhancements of these two parameters and surrounded by ultralow frequency(ULF)waves.Previous studies focused on the interplanetary magnetic field(IMF)conditions,solar wind(SW)conditions,and the growth of the foreshock waves related to the generation of foreshock cavitons.Previously,a multipoint spacecraft analysis method using Cluster data was applied to analyze only two foreshock cavitons,and this method did not consider uncertainties.In this study,multipoint spacecraft analysis methods,including the timing method,the minimum directional derivative(MDD)method,and the spatiotemporal difference(STD)method are applied to determine the velocity in both spacecraft and solar wind frames.The propagation properties show good agreement with previous results from simulations and observations that most cavitons move sunward in the solar wind frame,with the velocities larger than the Alfvén speed.The propagation properties of foreshock cavitons support the formation mechanism of cavitons in previous simulations,which suggested that cavitons are formed due to the nonlinear evolution of compressive ULF waves.We find that there is clear decreasing trend between the size of cavitons and their velocity in the solar wind frame.In addition,the timing method considering errors has been applied to study the evolution properties by comparing the velocities with errors of the leading and trailing edges,and we identify three stable cavitons and one contracting caviton,which has not been studied before.Most cavitons should remain stable when they travel toward the Earth’s bow shock.The relationship between the size of foreshock cavitons and their distance from the bow shock is also discussed. 展开更多

Electron energy relaxation timeτis one of the key physical parameters for electronic materials.In this study,we develop a new technique to measureτin a semiconductor via monochrome picosecond(ps)terahertz(THz)pump and probe experiment.The special THz pulse structure of Chinese THz free-electron laser(CTFEL)is utilized to realize such a technique,which can be applied to the investigation into THz dynamics of electronic and optoelectronic materials and devices.We measure the THz dynamical electronic properties of high-mobility n-GaSb wafer at 1.2 THz,1.6 THz,and 2.4 THz at room temperature and in free space.The obtained electron energy relaxation time for n-GaSb is in line with that measured via,e.g.,four-wave mixing techniques.The major advantages of monochrome ps THz pump-probe in the study of electronic and optoelectronic materials are discussed in comparison with other ultrafast optoelectronic techniques.This work is relevant to the application of pulsed THz free-electron lasers and also to the development of advanced ultrafast measurement technique for the investigation of dynamical properties of electronic and optoelectronic materials. 展开更多

Early-and late-onset narcolepsy constitutes two distinct diagnostic subgroups.However,it is not clear whether symptomology and genetic risk factors differ between early-and late-onset narcoleptics.This study compared clinical data and single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)between early-and late-onset patients in a large cohort of 899 Han Chinese narcolepsy patients.Blood,cerebrospinal fluid,and clinical data were prospectively collected from patients,and patients were genotyped for 40 previously reported narcolepsy risk-conferring SNPs.Genetic risk scores(GRSs),associations of five different sets of SNPs(GRS1–GRS5)with early-and late-onset narcolepsy,were evaluated using logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic curves.Mean sleep latency was significantly shorter in early-onset cases than in late-onset cases.Symptom severity was greater among late-onset patients,with higher rates of sleep paralysis,hypnagogic hallucinations,health-related quality of life impairment,and concurrent presentation with four or more symptoms.Hypocretin levels did not differ significantly between early-and late-onset cases.Only rs3181077(CCR1/CCR3)and rs9274477(HLA-DQB1)were more prevalent among early-onset cases.Only GRS1(26 SNPs;OR=1.513,95%CI:0.893–2.585;P<0.05)and GRS5(6 SNPs;OR=1.893,95%CI:1.204–2.993;P<0.05)were associated with early-onset narcolepsy,with areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves of 0.731 and 0.732,respectively.Neither GRS1 nor GRS5 included SNPs in HLA regions.Our results indicate that symptomology and genetic risk factors differ between early-and late-onset narcolepsy.This protocol was approved by the Institutional Review Board(IRB)Panels on Medical Human Subjects at Peking University People’s Hospital,China(approval No.Yuanlunshenlinyi 86)in October 2011. 展开更多

Synchronization of a self-excited dust density wave has been experimentally investigated in a strongly coupled dusty plasma.A dust density wave of frequency~78 Hz is spontaneously generated from the dust void boundary due to the ion streaming instability.The electric field in the dust void region is measured,and the electric field force and ion drag force on the dust particles at the void boundary are estimated to explain the mechanism of spontaneous dust density wave excitation.Synchronization occurring through the suppression mechanism is observed by modulating the ion streaming by applying an external sinusoidal signal to the dust void.At sufficiently high modulation amplitude,the onset of period-doubling bifurcation is observed.Fast Fourier transform spectral analysis is done using time-series data obtained from high-speed video imaging.The van der Pol equation with a force term is used to correlate the observed suppression phenomena. 展开更多

We study the Schwinger mechanism in the presence of an additional uniformly oriented,weak super Gaussian of integer order 4 N+2.Using the worldline approach,we determine the relevant critical points to compute the leading order exponential factor analytically.We show that increasing the parameter N gives rise to a strong dynamical enhancement.For N=2,this effect turns out to be larger compared to a weak contribution of the Sauter type.For higher orders,specifically,for the rectangular barrier limit,i.e.N→∞,we approach the Lorentzian case as an upper bound.Although the mentioned backgrounds significantly differ in Minkowski spacetime,we show that the found coincidence applies due to identical reflection points in the Euclidean instanton plane.In addition,we also treat the background in perturbation theory following recent ideas.By doing so,we show that the parameter N determines whether the weak contribution behaves perturbatively or nonperturbatively with respect to the field strength ratio,and,hence,reveals an interesting dependence on the background shape.In particular,we show that for backgrounds,for which higher orders in the field strength ratio turn out to be relevant,a proposed integral condition is not fulfilled.In view of these findings,the latter may serve as an indicator for the necessity for higher-order contributions. 展开更多

We investigate the quantum dynamical behaviors of bosons in a diamond chain with weak magnetic flux(WMF),including Landau–Zener tunnelling,Bloch oscillations,localization phenomenon,and collapses-revivals phenomena.We observed that collapses-revivals phenomena can occur in diamond chain with WMF and cannot exist in the strong magnetic flux case as the previous study(Chang N N and Xue J K,2018,Chin.Phys.B 27105203).Induced by WMF,the energy band for the system varies from gapless to gapped structure.The position of the extrema of probability amplitude for ground state can also be altered by WMF within a single diamond plaquette.As a consequence,the transitions between different dynamical behaviors of bosons in diamond chain can be manipulated by WMF,depending on its initial configurations. 展开更多

The structure of interconnected systems and its impact on the system dynamics is a much-studied cross-disciplinary topic.Although various critical phenomena have been found in different models;study of the connections between different percolation transitions is still lacking.Here we propose a unified framework to study the origins of the discontinuous transitions of the percolation process on interacting networks.The model evolves in generations with the result of the present percolation depending on the previous state,and thus is history-dependent.Both theoretical analysis and Monte Carlo simulations reveal that the nature of the transition remains the same at firdte generations but exhibits an abrupt change for the infinite generation.We use brain functional correlation and morphological similarity data to show that our model also provides a general method to explore the network structure and can contribute to many practical applications,such as detecting the abnormal structures of human brain networks. 展开更多

Similar to coal, rock and gas ejections, rock mass tremors and rock bursts are among the most serious natural hazards accompanying the underground extraction of coal. Gas-dynamic phenomena caused by rock mass tremors and rock bursts observed as transient states of air parameters in mining headings,are usually generated as a result of a change in the geometry of headings and the release of considerable amounts of gases. Particular significance is attributed to transient states caused by disasters, which are often accompanied by rapid incidents, presenting threats to the life and health of the underground crew.In Polish mining there are known examples of transient states of air parameters recorded during gasdynamic phenomena, e.g. tremors and rock bursts. The paper presents the case studies of rapid seismic incidents to show how records in mine monitoring systems broaden the knowledge about the transient states of air parameters in mining headings generated because of them. 展开更多

The apparent teleconnection between cosmic-ray muon flux over a base point in the Caribbean is discussed against the background of an extensive record of indices representing large-scale climatic phenomena, but limited cosmic-ray muon flux data. Many investigators have shown that large-scale climate phenomena influence sub-seasonal and seasonal climate variability, especially in the northern hemisphere and their impacts on the Caribbean are well documented. These climatic phenomena that impact the Caribbean include, but are not limited to, the El Nino Southern Oscillation, the Quasi-Biennial Oscillation, the North Atlantic Oscillation, and the Arctic Oscillation which is now being investigated. Although strong statistical correlation between variables over non-contiguous regions are not absolute as proof of teleconnections, the correlation strength can be used as an indication of its existence. The data gathered at the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies, in Jamaica, using a simple QuarkNet 6000 muon detector over the period September 2011 to September 2013, showed an apparent significant relationship with these climatic indices. This suggests that cosmic-ray muon flux might be linked to the behavior of the climate phenomena and therefore can be used as a climate or meteorological index over the Caribbean. 展开更多

In 2011,Capasso proposed the concept of manipulating electromagnetic(EM)waves with phase modulation by an ultrathin flat metasurface composed of nanoantenna arrays[1].Later,researchers developed different kinds of new metasurfaces,such as hyperbolic metasurfaces,tunable metasurfaces and non-linear metasurfaces[2].The development of metasurfaces has greatly enhanced the capability to manipulate EM waves with multiple functionalities on a flat surface.Non-linear metasurfaces combine the advantages of metasurface and non-linear EM phenomena,offering new degrees of freedom for the improvement of the performance of metasurfaces.The non-linear response of metasurfaces can be used to realize functions such as frequency mixing,harmony generation and ultrafast switching[3]. 展开更多

Thorium based molten salt reactor-solid fuel(TMSR-SF)design is an innovative reactor concept that uses high-temperature tristructural-isotropic(TR1SO)fuel with a low-pressure liquid salt coolant.In anticipation of getting licensed applications for TMS R-S F in the future,it is necessary to fully understand the significant features and phenomena of TMSR-SF design,as well as its transient behavior during accidents.In this paper,the safety-relevant phenomena,importance,and knowledge base were assessed for the selected events and the transient of TMSR-SF during station blackout scenario is simulated based on RELAP/SCDAPSIM Mod 4.0.The phenomena having significant impact but with limited knowledge of their history are core coolant bypass flows,outlet plenum flow distribution,and intermediate heat exchanger(IHX)over/under cooling transients.Some thermal hydraulic parameters during the station blackout scenario are also discussed. 展开更多

We investigate the critical exponents and magnetocaloric effect of Co2-xZrSn polycrystal. The Co2-xZrSn undergoes a second-order ferromagnetism phase transition around the Curie temperature of Tc ~280 K. The critical behavior in the vicinity of the magnetic phase transition has been investigated by using modified Arrott plot and Kouvel–Fisher methods.The obtained critical exponents, β, γ, and δ can be well described by the scaling theory. The determined exponents of Co2-xZrSn obey the mean-field model with a long-range magnetic interaction. In addition, the maximum magnetic entropy change-?Sm ax M of Co2-xZrSn is about 0.57 J·kg-1·K-1 and the relative cooling power(RCP) is 14.68 J·kg-1 at 50 kOe(1 Oe = 79.5775 A·m-1). 展开更多
