Development of wheat varieties with high yield and good quality has been a major objective in wheat breeding.A BC 1 F 2-3 population was used to detect QTLs for wheat quality related traits: SDS-sedimentation value (Ssd),grain protein content (GPC),grain hardness (GH) and 11 mixograph parameters,as well as five agronomic traits: spike length (SL),spikelet number per spike (SPN),grain number per spike (GN),thousand-grain weight (TGW),and plant height (PH).A total of 44 putative QTLs were detected in the present study,31 for quality parameters and 13 for important agronomic traits,including three important major QTLs.One major QTL for Ssd QSsd.saas-1B.1,linked to barc137,explained on average 21.1% of the phenotypic variation in three environments.The allele increasing Ssd at this locus also significantly increased GN.The second locus on chromosome 1B with the linked marker Barc 61 was a major locus for mixograph parameters.It explained 21.3%-32.5%,24.3%-30.6%,30.6%-37% and 20.1%-22.7% of phenotypic variation for mixing tolerance (MT),weakening slope (WS),midline peak time (MPTi) and midline time x =8 value (MTxW),respectively.The third major QTL,explaining above 40% of plant height variation,close to Rht-B 1 on the short arm of chromosome 4BS,co-located with QTL for quality and yield-related traits. 展开更多

A chromosome segment substitution line (CSSL) is a powerful tool for combining quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping with the pyramiding of desirable alleles. The rice CSSL Z1364 with increased kernel number was identified in a BC3F8 population derived from a cross of Nipponbare as the recipient with Xihui 18 as the donor parent. Z1364 carried three substitution segments distributed on chromosomes 1, 6, and 8. The mean substitution length was 1.19 Mb. Of 17 QTL identified on the substitution segments, qSP1 for spikelets per panicle, qSSD1 for seed-set density, and qNSB1 for number of secondary branches explained respectively 57.34%, 87.7%, and 49.44% of the corresponding phenotypic variance and were all linked to RM6777. Chi-square analysis showed that the increased kernel number in Z1364 was inherited recessively by a single gene. By fine mapping, qSP1 was delimited to a 50-kb region on the short arm of chromosome 1. Based on DNA sequence, a previously uncharacterized rice homolog of Arabidopsis thaliana AT4G32551 was identified as a candidate gene for qSP1 in which mutation increases the number of spikelets and kernels in Z1364. qSP1 was expressed in all tissues, but particularly in 1-cm panicles. The expression levels of OsMADS22, GN1A, and DST were upregulated and those of LAX2, GNP1, and GHD7 were downregulated in Nipponbare. Reservoir impoundment changes original fluvial habitats into lentic environments. Fish species adapted to lentic habitats may take the advantage of such habitat changes and show typical life history traits might facilitate the population increase. Siniperca kneri rarely occurred in fishery landing in the Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR) area before its impoundment in 2003, but it is now a dominant species. In this study, a total of 438 females of S . kneri were collected monthly during September 2012 through January 2014 using gill nets in the TGR. The age, growth, and reproductive biology were then investigated, and compared with other S . kneri populations. The standard length at age 1 was 149.9 mm in the TGR, which is larger than the three compared populations (i.e., Sandaohe Reservoir, Xinfengjiang Reservoir, and North River), but smaller than one (the Guishi Reservoir). The youngest mature female in the TGR was age 1, which is younger than that of the two compared populations (i.e., Xinfengjiang Reservoir and the North River). The relative fecundity in the TGR was 140 eggs/g, which is higher than that of the only available compared population (Xinfengjiang Reservoir, 96 eggs/g). Our results demonstrated that S . kneri in the TGR tended to have faster growth in the first year, a younger age at first maturation, and higher reproductive eff ort. We suggest that such opportunistic-tended life history traits might facilitate rapid increase of the population. 展开更多

Sapindus mukorossi Gaertn.and S.delavayi Franchet are among the most valuable species in the genus Sapindus for their commercially exploitable plant oils and chemicals.However,few studies have addressed genetic variation and improvement for either species.We evaluated the genetic diversity of germplasm from selected plus trees within a wide region and established the relationship between fruit traits and molecular markers.An association analysis based on inter-simple sequence repeats(ISSRs)provided a genetic basis for studies of fruit traits.A total of 247 loci were detected by scanning 61 trees of S.mukorossi and S.delavayi using 16 ISSR markers.Genetic diversity parameters were estimated for selected superior trees(or germplasm)and S.mukorossi and S.delavayi were categorized into two main groups,as well as into four groups within S.mukorossi.An association analysis between the ISSR markers and 14 fruit traits used the TASSEL MLM model.A genetic structure analysis differentiated S.mukorossi and S.delavayi.Eighteen ISSR loci associated with 13 fruit traits(P<0.005)were identified,with 13,1,and 4 loci associated with seed oil production,fruit saponin production,and fruit quality,respectively.Using this information,a core collection was selected with adequate genetic diversity and good seed oil characters.Our results demonstrate the feasibility of effectively estimating fruit trait associations in Sapindus using ISSR markers,and the method is applicable and valuable for select germplasm conservation.The markers obtained in this study are potentially useful for molecular-assisted breeding of Sapindus spp. 展开更多

As a member of the Frizzled family, Frizzled3 (FZD3) is a receptor of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway and plays a vital role in mammalian hair follicle developmental processes. However, its effects on wool traits are not clear. The objectives of this study were to identify the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and the expression patterns of FZD3 gene, and then to determine whether it affected wool traits of Chinese Merino sheep (Xinjiang Type) or not. PCR-single stranded conformational polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) and sequencing were used to identify mutation loci, and general linear model (GLM) with SAS 9.1 was used for the association analysis between wool traits and SNPs. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) was used to investigate FZD3 gene expression levels. The results showed that six exons of FZD3 gene were amplified and two mutation loci were identified in exon 1 (NC_019459.2: g.101771685 T>C (SNP1)) and exon 3 (NC_019459.2: g.101810848, A>C (SNP2)), respectively. Association analysis showed that SNP1 was significantly associated with mean fiber diameter (MFD)(P=0.04) and live weight (LW)(P=0.0004), SNP2 was significantly associated with greasy fleece weight (GFW)(P=0.04). The expression level of FZD3 gene in skin tissues of the superfine wool (SF) group was significantly lower (P<0.05) than that of the fine wool (F) group. Moreover, it had a higher expression level (P<0.01) in skin tissues than in other tissues of Chinese Merino ewes. While, its expression level had a fluctuant expression in skin tissues at different developmental stages of embryos and born lambs, with the highest expression levels (P<0.01) at the 65th day of embryos. Our study revealed the genetic relationship between FZD3 variants and wool traits and two identified SNPs might serve as potential and valuable genetic markers for sheep breeding and lay a molecular genetic foundation for sheep marker-assisted selection (MAS). 展开更多

Whistleblowing can be an effective fraud detection mechanism if a person decided to whistleblow on the wrongdoings of other employees. In reality, however, individuals who are aware of unlawful activity of his or her peer group members would face a challenging dilemma if the company or organizations they are working with do not have a sound whistleblowing policy to ensure the confidentiality of whistleblower. Knowing the factors that could influence their whistleblowing judgement and intention would be an interesting topic to be studied. The present study attempts to discuss on factors which would influence whistleblowing intention on staffs from selected public sector organizations in Malaysia. These factors include three individual level factors of ethical ideology (idealism and relativism), personality traits (conscientiousness, openness to experience, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism), and whistleblowing judgment, all with regards to peer reporting. In the process of foreign language learning, many factors interact to influence the learners’ learning achievement, including teaching, the learner, and the context, among which the individual difference attracted many researchers’ attention. They attempted to find out the relationship between these individual differences, especially personality traits and the learner’s foreign language learning achievements. However, the results and findings of the researches are sometimes contradictory and not always unquestionable. This research is designed for verifying the results of other studies and finding out the relationship between personality traits and EFL learning in the Chinese context, thereby making some contributions to the EFL teaching and learning. This thesis consists of five parts. The first part is a brief introduction to the research. In the second part, some theories on personality are surveyed first, and some researches are reviewed. Part Three presents the method of the research, including a description of the research methodology, subjects, and data-collecting procedures. Part Four reports the results and the data obtained in the research. In the last part, the results of the present research are compared with those of other researches, the implications and limitations of the research are discussed, and some suggestions for further studies are also put forward. 展开更多

[目的]分析河南洛阳高山地区引种牡丹品种资源的综合性状表现,为高海拔地区牡丹品种引种和开发利用提供参考依据。[方法]以河南省洛阳高山地区引种的15个牡丹品种为试材,运用层次分析法结合专家意见构建基于14个性状指标的打分系统,计算每个品种的综合评价得分,进行综合性状评价,并对15个品种进行聚类分析。[结果]15个引种牡丹品种的物候期、开花特性及植株生长势、枝梢生长能力、萌发能力和抗性均存在明显差异。以层次分析法进行综合性状评价和聚类分析,可将15个牡丹品种分为4个等级,其中,Ⅰ级(优秀)有7个品种,分别为蓝芙蓉、圣代、鲁菏红、向阳红、岛锦、金岛和霓虹幻彩,其综合评价值≥3.00;Ⅱ级(良好)有3个品种,分别为七福神、日向和姚黄,其综合评价值为2.79~2.86;Ⅲ级(一般)有4个品种,分别为银红巧对、莲鹤、八千代椿和花游,其综合评价值为2.64~2.71;Ⅳ级(差)仅有1个品种,为雨后风光,其综合评价值为2.57。各品种的评价等级与田间表现一致。[结论]蓝芙蓉、圣代、鲁菏红、向阳红、岛锦、金岛、霓虹幻彩、七福神、日向和姚黄等牡丹品种的花形、花期、花色等观赏性状及萌芽展叶和植株长势综合表现良好,适宜在高海拔地区引种和开发利用。 展开更多

To reveal the genetic basis of potassium use efficiency(KUE) in rapeseed, root morphology(RM), biomass and KUE-related traits were measured in a recombinant inbred line population with 175 F7 lines that were subjected to high-potassium(HK) and low-potassium(LK) treatments by hydroponics. A total of 109 significant QTLs were identified to be associated with the examined traits. Sixty-one of these QTLs were integrated into nine stable QTLs. The higher heritability for RM and biomass traits and lower heritability for KUE-related traits, as well as nine stable QTLs for RM traits and only two for KUE-related traits,suggested that regulating RM traits would be more effective than selecting KUE traits directly to improve KUE by markerassisted selection. Furthermore, the integration of stable QTLs identified in the HK, LK, high-nitrogen(HN) and low-nitrogen(LN) conditions gave 10 QTL clusters. Seven of these clusters were classified into major QTLs that explained 7.4%–23.7% of the total phenotypic variation. Five of the major QTL clusters were detected under all of the treated conditions, and four clusters were specifically detected under the LK and LN conditions. These common and specific QTL clusters may be useful for the simultaneous improvement of multiple traits by marker-assisted selection. 展开更多

Effect of Salinity and Potassium Enrichment on Some Growth Attributes in Sugar Beet (Beta vulgaris L.) 预览

A pot experiment was conducted during winter growing season of 2014 at Homs Agriculture Research Center, General Commission for Scientific Researches (GCSAR), Syria. A factorial experiment arranged according to complete randomized block design with six replications was used. A combination of four levels of saline irrigation water (tap water, 2,000, 4,000 and 6,000 ppm), with three K levels (180, 360 and 540 ppm), was used to evaluate the effects of saline irrigation water and K enrichment on some growth attributes of two sugar beet varieties (Semper and Alligator). Results showed that all studied growth attributes, i.e., leaf area (LA), leaf number (LN), total dry matter (TDM) and net assimilation rate (NAR) were decreased under salinity stress conditions compared to the control, while K enrichment significantly increased some of the studied characters such as LA, TDM and NAR, but the differences in LN were apparent according to increase in K levels. The variety Semper surpassed significantly the variety Alligator in LA, TDM and NAR. Phenotypic Diversity of Different Populations of Paeonia ludlowii in Nyingchi of Tibet 预览

[Objectives] To study the differences in fruit traits of different populations of Paeonia ludlowii , and to provide basic data for the identification, protection and utilization of germplasm resources of P. ludlowii .[Methods] Nine fruit traits of three different populations of P. ludlowii in Tibet were tested and analyzed.[Results] The mean values of 9 fruit traits of P. ludlowii were different in different populations;the coefficients of variation of different traits of different populations were also different;there were morphological differences of different sizes among individuals in each population;there were significant differences in 8 traits (pod length, pod width, pod thickness, pod weight, seeds per pod, seed length, seed width, and seed weight) among different populations. Among the 9 traits of the three P. ludlowii populations, the variability of the five traits was higher in the fruit pods, the variation degree of five traits including pod weight, pod thickness, seeds per pod, and seed weight was higher. It is of great significance for the screening and preservation of the germplasm resources of P. ludlowii . According to the principal component analysis (PCA), the seed weight, seed width, and seed length, i.e. the seed traits, were the main factors causing differences in fruit traits among populations. There was a certain correlation between different traits of P. ludlowii . Among the 36 Pearson- related combinations of 9 fruit traits, 11 combinations had extremely significant correlations, and 8 combinations had significant correlations, indicating that there was a certain correlation between fruit traits in the growth and development. Through cluster analysis, three populations of P. ludlowii can be divided into two categories. The BV population was a category, which is characterized by long pods, long seeds, wide seeds, thick seeds and large seed weight. Understanding physiological responses and drought adaptation strategies of woody plant leaf traits in sub-humid to semi-arid regions is of vital importance to understand the interplay between ecological processes and plant resource-allocation strategies of different tree species.Seasonal variations of leaf morphological traits,stoichiometric traits and their relationships of two drought tolerant woody species,live oak(Quercus virginiana)and honey mesquite(Prosopis glandulosa)and two less drought tolerant species,sugarberry(Celtis laevigata)and white ash(Fraxinus americana)were analyzed in a sub-humid to semi-arid area of south Texas,USA.Our findings demonstrate that for the two drought tolerant species,the leguminous P.glandulosa had the highest specific leaf area,leaf N,P,and lowest leaf area and dry mass,indicating that P.glandulosa adapts to an arid habitat by decreasing leaf area,thus reducing water loss,reflecting a resource acquisition strategy.While the evergreen species Q.virginiana exhibited higher leaf dry mass,leaf dry matter content,C content,C:N,C:P and N:P ratios,adapts to an arid habitat through increased leaf thickness and thus reduced water loss,reflecting a resource conservation strategy in south Texas.For the two less drought tolerant deciduous species,the variations of leaf traits in C.laevigata and F.americana varied between Q.virginiana and P.glandulosa,reflecting a trade-off between rapid plant growth and nutrient maintenance in a semi-arid environment. 展开更多
