Objective: To isolate and identify the antifungal compounds from Curcuma amada. Methods: The antifungal activity was measured by the diameter of colonies grown on Petri dish,microscopic observation,and CLSI microdilution methods. The antifungal compounds were isolated through bioactivity guided purification by using silica gel and high-performance liquid chromatography. Structural identification of the antifungal compounds was conducted using 1 H NMR,13 C NMR,and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Results: The purified antifungal compounds were zederone and furanodienone. These two compounds showed dose-dependent antifungal activity against Fusarium solani sensu lato. The concentration required for 50% growth inhibition(IC50) of FSSL ranged from 115 to 129 μM and 82 to 91 μM for zederone and furanodienone,respectively. Conclusion: This study suggested that the isolated compounds from Curcuma amada could be promising natural antifungal agents to control the diseases caused by Fusarium solani sensu lato. 展开更多

老年退行性骨关节炎(OA)是由关节损伤、肥胖和衰老等因素引起的一种退行性疾病,最终引起关节软骨损伤,导致运动功能障碍。软骨细胞及细胞外基质是软骨组织的主要成分,它们的损伤是引起OA的根本原因。目前OA的治疗仅限于缓解症状,而随着... 老年退行性骨关节炎(OA)是由关节损伤、肥胖和衰老等因素引起的一种退行性疾病,最终引起关节软骨损伤,导致运动功能障碍。软骨细胞及细胞外基质是软骨组织的主要成分,它们的损伤是引起OA的根本原因。目前OA的治疗仅限于缓解症状,而随着干细胞的发现及对软骨细胞的深入认识,开发增强软骨内源性修复的药物是OA治疗的重要方向。目前研究发现,kartogenin等化合物可以促进间充质干细胞选择性的分化为软骨细胞而起到修复作用,此外,一些化合物还可以调控软骨细胞的信号通路,起到促进软骨细胞增殖、抑制软骨细胞凋亡、抑制基质金属蛋白酶活性、增加细胞外基质合成等作用,从而维持软骨细胞的数量、促进软骨基质的合成而抑制其降解。这些方法比常规通过微创刺激内源性干细胞或移植自体细胞更加安全、有效。本文就化合物对促进老年退行性骨炎软骨内源性修复的研究进行综述,为发现更多的有效化合物提供基础。 展开更多

Osmundea pinnatifida is a red edible seaweed known as pepper dulse.O.pinnatifida was cultivated in the farm of ALGAplus(ílhavo,Portugal).This farm is integrated with a seabream and seabass commercial aquaculture and uses the nutrient-enriched water resultant from the fish production as its cultivation medium in the integrated multi-trophic aquaculture(IMTA)manner.Wild and IMTA-cultivated samples of O.pinnatifi da were screened for antioxidant and antitumor activities.The antioxidant capacity of solvent extracts from wild and IMTA cultivated samples was assessed in two methods(2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)and oxygen radical absorbance capacity(ORAC)),and their total phenolic contents(TPC)were estimated.Antitumor activity was evaluated in three different tumor cell lines(HepG-2,MCF-7,and SH-SY5Y)through 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT)assay.Among the solvents used for extraction,dichloromethane was the most eff ective to extract phenolic compounds and presented higher ORAC.A significant correlation was found between TPC and ORAC,which was also sustained by the principal components analysis(PCA).Dichloromethane extracts induced a cytostatic eff ect on MCF-7 cells and showed weak cytotoxicity to SH-SY5Y cells and weak impact on cell proliferation.Overall,there were no statistically signifi cant differences in the biological activities shown by the wild and IMTA-cultivated samples.Hence,O.pinnatifida can be obtained in an economical and environmentally sustainable way through IMTA,maintaining bioactive properties in a high potential for further nutraceutical purposes. 展开更多

A series of novel benzofuran-isatin-hydroxylimine/thiosemicarbazide hybrids were designed, synthesized and evaluated for their in vitro anti-TB activities against drug-sensitive MTB H37Rv and MDR-TB isolates as well as cytotoxicity. All benzofuran-isatin-hydroxylimine/thiosemicarbazide hybrids exhibited considerable in vitro anti-mycobacterial activities against the tested three MTB strains, and all of them also showed acceptable cytotoxicity. The most active hybrid 7f was >4.8 and >51 folds more potent than the first line anti-TB agents RIF and INH against both drug-sensitive MTB H37Rv and MDR-TB isolates, respectively. The results demonstrated the potential utility of benzofuran-isatin-hydroxylimine/-thiosemicarbazide hybrids as anti-TB agents. 展开更多

Cisplatin is one of the most successful antitumor agents, yet also restricted by its poor cellular uptake and low selectivity. Since 3-(2-nitrophenyl) propionic acid(NPPA) has been reported as a bioreductive prodrug moiety, herein we combined NPPA with cisplatin(compound 1) to improve its lipophilicity and targetability and then to improve the antitumor outcomes. In addition, compound 2 possessing 3-phenyl propionic acid(PPA) was also synthesized as a comparison to test the influence of the NPPA to the cytotoxicity, since PPA was not a bioreductive moiety. Bioevaluations showed that 1 displayed more potent antitumor potency than cisplatin and 2, suggesting Pt(II) complexes possessing NPPA groups may be a good strategy for future platinum drug discovery. 展开更多

Oceans and seas form a large body of water that contains a natural biodiversity.For humans,represents a resource,which makes this a point of interest,from researches to improve the economy.Seaweeds produce many compounds and secondary metabolites that can be used in different fi elds of industry such as food,agricultural,pharmaceutical and health.Even though seaweeds are ancestral resources,recently it was notorious a global interest in knowing more about its potentials,where biotechnology plays an important role in research.Studies showed that seaweed has many bioactive compounds benefi cial to plant development,giving them a great potential as an agricultural fertilizer.Adding seaweeds to the soil provides organic matter,minerals,trace elements,growth plant regulator,metabolites,vitamins,and amino acids and it can work as a soil conditioner.In Portugal,the use of seaweeds for agriculture is important since long time ago.In the past,populations that lived near coastal zone depended on the seaweeds as a family subsistence but,throughout the years,synthetic fertilizers replaced seaweeds.Our work aimed to assess the potential of the extracts obtained from Ascophyllum nodosum and from Sargassum muticum as an agricultural fertilizer.This evaluation was carried out with rice plants(Oryza sativa)and lettuce(Lactuca sativa),in germination bioassays,the culture of rice and lettuce plants in pots,and culture of lettuce plants in hydroponics.For that,seaweed liquid extracts were used in different concentrations in different bioassays.Results show that extracts obtained from two seaweeds,A.nodosum and S.muticum,can be promissory plant biofertilizer at a concentration of 25% and had a positive effect on seed germination,plant development,and production. 展开更多

The levels, sources and reactivity of volatile organic compounds in a typical urban area of Northeast China

Air concentrations of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) were continually measured at a monitoring site in Shenyang from 20 August to 16 September 2017. The average concentrations of alkanes, alkenes, aromatics and carbonyls were 28.54, 6.30, 5.59 and9.78 ppbv, respectively. Seven sources were identified by the Positive Matrix Factorization model based on the measurement data of VOCs and CO. Vehicle exhaust contributed the most(36.15%) to the total propene-equivalent concentration of the measured VOCs,followed by combustion emission(16.92%), vegetation emission and secondary formation(14.33%), solvent usage(10.59%), petrochemical industry emission(9.89%), petrol evaporation(6.28%), and liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) usage(5.84%). Vehicle exhaust, solvent usage and combustion emission were found to be the top three VOC sources for O3 formation potential, accounting for 34.52%, 16.55% and 11.94%, respectively. The diurnal variation of the total VOCs from each source could be well explained by their emission characteristics,e.g., the two peaks of VOC concentrations from LPG usage were in line with the cooking times for breakfast and lunch. Wind rose plots of the VOCs from each source could reveal the possible distribution of the sources around the monitoring site. The O3 pollution episodes during the measurement period were found to be coincident with the elevation of VOCs, which was mainly due to the air parcel from the southeast direction where petrochemical industry emission was found to be dominant, suggesting that the petrochemical industry emission from the southeast was probably a significant cause of O3 pollution in Shenyang. 展开更多

We have systematically studied the structures,electronic properties,and lattice dynamics of B–P compounds at high pressures.BP and B6P are found to be thermodynamically stable below 100 GPa,and other stoichiometries are decomposable under pressure.The predicted structures of F-43m BP and R-3m B6P are in good agreement with the experimental results by comparing the powder diffraction file (PDF) standard cards with our simulated x-ray diffractions.The bonding properties of BP and B6P have also been analyzed by electronic localization functions,charge density difference,and Bader charge analysis.Our results show that BP and B6P decompose into B and P under high pressure,which is proven to be dominated by the volumes of them.Furthermore,the infrared and Raman spectra of F-43m and R-3m are investigated at selected pressures and will provide useful information for future experimental studies about B–P compounds. 展开更多

Herbs are an excellent source of tropical medicines. Many advancements and discoveries have taken place in the field of drug discovery but still, a major population of tropical diseases relies on herbal traditional medicine. There are some challenges related to policy implementation, efficacy, resistance and toxicity of tropical medicines. There are many tropical diseases such as such as schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis, African sleeping sickness, filariasis and chagas disease which are neglected because very few pharmaceutical companies have shown their interest in developing therapeutics against these diseases of poor people. There are many benefits associated with herbal medicine such as the cost of production, patient tolerance, large scale availability, efficacy, safety, potency, recyclability, and environment friendly. A large number of natural extracts such as curcumin, artemisinin, morphine, reserpine, and hypericin, are in use for treatment of different tropical diseases for a long time. Objective: To investigate the cytotoxic, antioxidant and antibacterial activities of ethanolic and aqueous crude extracts of Nerium oleander(N. oleander) leaves. Methods: Cytotoxic activities were evaluated by WST-1 bioassay on two human cancer cell lines, namely human colon adenocarcinoma cell line HT-29 and human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231. The antioxidant property of N. oleander extracts was assessed by DPPH scavenging and he agar disc diffusion method was used for the determination of an毬-carotene bleaching tests. Ttimicrobial activity against different strains. Results: Using cell viability indices, the WST-1 test revealed that both extracts reduced cell viability in both cell lines. Our results also showed that aqueous extract was more active than ethanolic extract, with IC50 values of(1.67±0.22) μg/mL and(2.36±0.44) μg/mL on MDA-MB-231 cells, and(2.89±0.35) μg/mL and(5.09±0.52) μg/mL on HT29 cells, respectively. The study of the antioxidant activity showed that N. oleander extracts had a considerable scavenging capacity and exerted a significant preventive effect against the oxidation of 毬-carotene by the peroxide radicals. However, the antibacterial test showed that both ethanolic and aqueous extracts of N. oleander had a moderate antibacterial effect limited only to Gram-positive bacteria. Conclusions: Our results shows that N. oleander aqueous and ethanolic extracts have significant cytotoxic activities against tumor cell lines and possesses a strong antioxidant capacity, suggesting the presence of active compounds in N. oleander leaves that could be a potential source of phytochemicals with high medicinal value to be used in cancer treatment and prevention. 展开更多

The packed density, detonation velocities, and detonation pressures of a series of cyclopropane derivatives were investigated to look for high energy density compounds. For exploring the possibility of synthesis, the bond order, heats of formation(HOF), bond dissociation energy(BDE), and characteristic height were calculated. Based on our results, A3 has the best detonation characters. Both A1 and A2 showed comparative detonation parameters and compact sensitivity with RDX, and could be regarded as the candidates of high energy density molecules.Both the heats of formation and explosive heats rose with the increase of nitrimino groups and the strain energy of three-membered ring. For A1 compound, pyrolysis mechanism might be a mix one(breakages of C–C and N–NO2 bonds). However, for A2 and A3 compounds, the N–NO2 is the trigger bond in explosive reactions. Our results may provide the basic information for further study of this kind of compounds. 展开更多

Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)released from the waste treatment facilities have become a significant issue because they are not only causing odor nuisance but may also hazard to human health.Non-thermal plasma(NTP)technologies are newly developed methods and became a research trend in recent years regarding the removal of VOCs from the air stream.Due to its unique characteristics,such as rapid response at room temperature,bulk homogenized volume,high reaction efficiency,dielectric barrier discharge(DBD)plasma technology is considered one of the most promising techniques of NTP.This paper reviews recent progress of DBD plasma technology for abatement of VOCs.The principle of plasma generation in DBD and its configurations(electrode,discharge gap,dielectric barrier material,etc.)are discussed in details.Based on previously published literature,attention has been paid on the effect of DBD configuration on the removal of VOCs.Effect of various process parameters such as initial concentration,gas feeding rate,oxygen content and input power on VOCs removal are also considered.Moreover,the role of catalysis and inhibitors in VOCs removal by DBD system are presented.Finally,a modified configuration of the DBD reactor,i.e.double dielectric barrier discharge(DDBD)for the abatement of VOCs is discussed.It was suggested that the DDBD plasma reactor could be used for higher conversion efficiency as well as for avoiding solid residue deposition on the electrode.These depositions can interfere with the performance of the reactor. 展开更多

目的:通过分子对接技术研究残黄片治疗黄疸的作用机制。方法:在中药系统药理学分析平台(TCMSP)中筛选残黄片的化学成分,从比较毒理基因组数据库(CTD)和Drug Bank数据库中搜集黄疸治疗相关靶点,利用Discovery Studio2016软件Lib Dock模... 目的:通过分子对接技术研究残黄片治疗黄疸的作用机制。方法:在中药系统药理学分析平台(TCMSP)中筛选残黄片的化学成分,从比较毒理基因组数据库(CTD)和Drug Bank数据库中搜集黄疸治疗相关靶点,利用Discovery Studio2016软件Lib Dock模块进行分子对接,分析成分和靶点的相互作用和网络特征。结果:分子对接发现残黄片37个成分与锁定的孕烷受体,雄烷受体,法尼醇X受体,环氧合酶-2,单胺氧化酶A,诱导型一氧化氮合酶等14个靶点作用较强,可通过调节胆红素代谢、调控胆汁酸合成与转运、抑制免疫与炎症反应、影响肝脏胶原形成等多个途径发挥治疗黄疸作用。成分-靶点作用网络分析发现,残黄片中穆坪马兜铃酰胺,氢化小檗碱,槲皮素,去甲氧基姜黄素,黄柏酮,姜黄素,黄麻甲苷,小檗浸碱,桤木酮,柚皮素共10个成分作用于7个以上靶点,可能为其退黄主要活性成分。结论:通过分子对接揭示了残黄片可能的退黄活性成分和作用机制,有助于后续质控标准的提升和退黄机制的研究。 展开更多

The crystal structure,magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of (Ho1-xYx)5Pd2 (x = 0,0.25,and 0.5) compounds are investigated.All the compounds crystallize in a cubic Dy5Pd2-type structure with the space group Fd3m and undergo a second order transition from spin glass (SG) state to paramagnetic (PM) state.The spin glass transition temperatures Tg decrease from 26 K for x = 0 to 13 K for x = 0.5.In the PM region,the reciprocal susceptibilities for all the compounds obey the Curie–Weiss law.The paramagnetic Curie temperatures (θp) for Ho5Pd2,(Ho0.75Y0.25)5Pd2,and (Ho0.5Y0.5)5Pd2 are determined to be 32 K,30 K,and 22 K,respectively,and the corresponding effective magnetic moments (meff) are 10.8 μB/Ho,10.3 μB/RE,and 7.5 μB/RE,respectively.Magnetocaloric effect (MCE) is anticipated according to the Maxwell relation,based on the isothermal magnetization curves.For a magnetic field change of 0–5 T,the maximum values of the isothermal magnetic entropy change -△SM of the (Ho1-xYx)5Pd2 (x = 0,0.25,and 0.5) compounds are determined to be 11.5 J·kg^-1·K^-1,11.1 J·kg^-1·K^-1,and 8.9 K J·kg^-1·K^-1,with corresponding refrigerant capacity values of 382.3 J·kg^-1,336.2 J·kg^-1,and 242.5 J·kg^-1,respectively. 展开更多
