The rapid consumption of fossil fuel and increased environmental damage caused by it have given a strong impetus to the growth and development of fuelefficient vehicles. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) have evolved from their inchoate state and are proving to be a promising solution to the serious existential problem posed to the planet earth. Not only do HEVs provide better fuel economy and lower emissions satisfying environmental legislations, but also they dampen the effect of rising fuel prices on consumers. HEVs combine the drive powers of an internal combustion engine and an electrical machine. The main components of HEVs are energy storage system, motor, bidirectional converter and maximum power point trackers (MPPT, in case of solar-powered HEVs). The performance of HEVs greatly depends on these components and its architecture. This paper presents an extensive review on essential components used in HEVs such as their architectures with advantages and disadvantages, choice of bidirectional converter to obtain high efficiency, combining ultracapacitor with battery to extend the battery life, traction motors’ role and their suitability for a particular application. Inclusion of photovoltaic cell in HEVs is a fairly new concept and has been discussed in detail. The novel idea that spin-orbit coupling (SOC) and an s-wave pairing system can lead to induced pwave pairing with a strong magnetic limit, has stimulated widespread interest in searching for Majorana fermions (MFs) in semiconductor-superconductor hybrid structures. However, despite major advances in the semiconductor nanotechnology, this system has several inherent limitations that prohibit the realization and identification of MFs. We overcome these limitations by replacing the s-wave superconductor with the type-II Fulde-Ferrell (FF) superconductor, in which the center-of-mass momentum of the Cooper pair renormalizes the in-plane Zeeman field and chemical potential. As a result, MFs can be realized in semiconductor nanowires with small values of the Landé g-factor and high carrier densities. The SOC strength directly influences the topological boundary;thus, the topological phase transition and associated MFs can be engineered by an external electric field. Theoretically, almost all semiconductor nanowires can be used to realize MFs by using the FF superconductor. However, we find that InP nanowire is more suitable for the realization of MFs compared to InAs and InSb nanowires. Thus, this new scheme can take full advantage of the semiconductor nanotechnology for the realization of MFs in semiconductor-superconductor hybrid structures. 展开更多

In a millimeter-wave(mmWave)Massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)systems,full-digital beamforming(i.e.,connecting each antenna with a specific radio-frequency(RF)chain)becomes inefficient due to the hardware cost and power consumption.Therefore,hybrid analog and digital transceiver where the number of RF chains are much smaller than that of the antennas has drawn great research interest.In this work,we investigate the use of low-resolution analog-to-digital converters(ADCs)in the uplink of multi-user hybrid and full-digital mmWave Massive MIMO systems.To be specific,we compare the performance of full-digital minimum mean square error(MMSE)and hybrid MMSE beamforming in both sum rates and energy efficiency.Accurate approximations of sum rates and energy efficiency are provided for both schemes,which captures the dominant factors.The analytical results show that full-digital beamforming outperforms hybrid beamforming in terms of sum rates and requires only a small portion(γ)of antennas used by hybrid beamforming to achieve the same sum rates.We given sufficient condition for full-digital beamforming to outperform hybrid beamforming in terms of energy efficiency.Moreover,an algorithm is proposed to search for the optimal ADC resolution bits.Numerical results demonstrate the correctness of the analysis. 展开更多

The pneumatic muscle actuator(PMA)has many advantages,such as good flexibility,high power/weight ratio,but its nonlinearity makes it difficult to build a static mathematical model with high precision.A new method is proposed to establish the model of PMA.The concept of hybrid elastic modulus which is related to the static characteristic of PMA is put forward,and the energy conservation law is used to achieve the expression of the hybrid elastic modulus,which can be fitted out based on experimental data,and the model of PMA can be derived from this expression.At the same time,a 3-DOF parallel mechanism(a new bionic shoulder joint)driven by five PMAs is designed.This bionic shoulder joint adopts the structure of two antagonistic PMAs actualizing a rotation control and three PMAs controlling another two rotations to get better rotation characteristics.The kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the mechanism are analyzed and a new static model of PMA is used to control it.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this new static model. 展开更多

Shelf life is an important breeding trait in tomato, especially for the tomato production in subtropical and tropical regions. Previously we have isolated and characterized ethylene receptor mutants, Sletr1-1 and Sletr1-2 from mutant population based on Micro-Tom cultivar. Sletr1-1 showed insensitivity to ethylene while Sletr1-2 showed reduced sensitivity to ethylene. We also have demonstrated that the traits are useful for extending fruit shelf life of the hybrid tomato cultivars. For commercializing the hybrid cultivars, the seed quality is another important trait. In this study, we evaluated the effects of the Sletr1-1 and Sletr1-2 mutations on the seed quality characteristics of F1 hybrid lines generated by crossing Sletr1-1 and Sletr1-2 with three commercial tomato cultivars, Intan, Mutiara and Ratna. Sletr1-1 mutation conferred insensitivity to ethylene in the F1 hybrid seedlings, resulting in negative effects including reduced germination rate, vigor index and emergence speed index. Interestingly Sletr1-2 mutation had almost no effect on the seed quality characteristics of the F1 hybrid lines, suggesting that Sletr1-2 was suitable for producing high quality of hybrid seeds. 展开更多

In order to improve the energy efficiency(EE)in cognitive radio(CR),this paper investigates the joint design of cooperative spectrum sensing time and the power control optimization problem for the secondary user systems to achieve the maximum energy efficiency in a cognitive network based on hybrid spectrum sharing,meanwhile considering the maximum transmit power,user quality of service(QoS)requirements,interference limitations,and primary user protection.The optimization of energy efficient sensing time and power allocation is formulated as a non-convex optimization problem.The Dinkelbach’s method is adopted to solve this problem and to transform the non-convex optimization problem in fractional form into an equivalent optimization problem in the form of subtraction.Then,an iterative power allocation algorithm is proposed to solve the optimization problem.The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms for energy-efficient resource allocation in the cognitive network. 展开更多

The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory(LHAASO) is a composite cosmic ray observatory consisting of three detector arrays: kilometer square array(KM2 A), which includes the electromagnetic detector array and muon detector array, water Cherenkov detector array(WCDA) and wide field-of-view Cherenkov telescope array(WFCTA). One of the main scientific objectives of LHAASO is to precisely measure the cosmic rays energy spectrum of individual components from 10^14 eV to 10^18 eV. The hybrid observation will be employed by the LHAASO experiment, in which the lateral and longitudinal distributions of extensive air shower can be observed simultaneously. Thus, many kinds of parameters can be used for primary nuclei identification. In this paper, high purity cosmic ray simulation samples of the light nuclei component are obtained using multi-variable analysis. The apertures of 1/4 LHAASO array for pure proton and mixed proton and helium(H&He) samples are 900 m^2 Sr and1800 m^2 Sr, respectively. Prospect of obtaining proton and H&He spectra from 100 TeV to 4 PeV is discussed. 展开更多

本文是以传统车传动系耐久性试验方法为基础,依托红旗H7混合动力车型进行传动系耐久性试验方法研究,红旗H7混合动力车型是以传统车为基础,匹配新型DCT变速器及电驱系统,在起步、爬坡、加速等工况均存在电机与发动机的单独或联合驱动,在... 本文是以传统车传动系耐久性试验方法为基础,依托红旗H7混合动力车型进行传动系耐久性试验方法研究,红旗H7混合动力车型是以传统车为基础,匹配新型DCT变速器及电驱系统,在起步、爬坡、加速等工况均存在电机与发动机的单独或联合驱动,在制动、下坡及滑行等工况存在电池能量回收,混合动力车型传动系结构及控制原理比传统车复杂多变。目前传统车传动系耐久性已有较为成熟的方法,但尚不能满足混合动力车型多工况多控制的模式要求,无法完成传动系耐久性验证。基于此,本文在广泛研究可靠耐久性试验方法的基础上,提出基于用户信息正向开发的耐久性试验流程,通过四步法建立混合动力车型传动耐久性试验方法,主要研究如下:首先,路谱采集分析。通过对全国已知的C级车典型用户工况进行统计分析,确定长春地区市区、郊区及高速公路等路面采集的比例关系,为混合动力车型路谱采集提供依据。其次,损伤分析。使用LMSTecWare软件,建立混合动力车型传动系中变速器输入轴、各挡齿轮的伪损伤分析方法,通过Minitab软件进行频数累加分析,然后对各挡位平均损伤对比分析,确定用户工况数据中各挡位齿轮最大损伤与路面比例的对应关系。再次,寿命估计。通运用过威布尔概率分布估计,计算出95%用户的损伤值;最后,方法建立。通过用户路谱数据与试验场路谱数据对比分析,得到等效用户使用寿命的传动系统加速耐久性试验方法。 展开更多

Optimal design and development of PV-wind-battery based nano-grid system: a field-on-laboratory demonstration

The present paper has disseminated the design approach, project implementation, and economics of a nano-grid system. The deployment of the system is envisioned to acculturate the renewable technology into Indian society by field-on-laboratory demonstration (FOLD) and ''bridge the gaps between research, develop-ment, and implementation.The system consists of a solar photovoltaic (PV)(2.4 kWp), a wind turbine (3.2 kWp), and a battery bank (400 Ah). Initially, a prefeasibility study is conducted using the well-established HOMER (hybrid optimization model for electric renewable) software developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), USA. The feasibility study indicates that the optimal capacity for the nano-grid system consists of a 2.16 kWp solar PV, a 3 kWp wind turbine, a 1.44 kW inverter, and a 24 kWh battery bank. The total net present cost (TNPC) and cost of energy (COE) of the system are US$20789.85 and US$0.673/kWh,respectively. However, the hybrid system consisting of a 2.4 kWp of solar PV,a 3.2 kWp of wind turbine, a 3 kVA of inverter, and a 400 Ah of battery bank has been installed due to unavailability of system components of desired values and to enhance the reliability of the system.The TNPC and COE of the system installed are found to be US$20073.63 and US$0,635/kWh, respectively and both costs are largely influenced by battery cost. Besides, this paper has illustrated the installation details of each component as well as of the system. Moreover, it has discussed the detailed cost breakup of the system. Furthermore, the performance of the system has been investigated and validated with the simulation results. It is observed that the power generated from the PV system is quite significant and is almost uniform over the year. Contrary to this, a trivial wind velocity prevails over the year apart from the month of April,May,and June,so does the power yield. This paper proposes a powertrain controller for a solar photovoltaic battery powered hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). The main objective of the proposed controller is to ensure better battery management, load regulation, and maximum power extraction whenever possible from the photovoltaic panels. The powertrain controller consists of two levels of controllers named lower level controllers and a high-level control algorithm. The lower level controllers are designed to perform individual tasks such as maximum power point tracking, battery charging, and load regulation. The perturb and observe based maximum power point tracking algorithm is used for extracting maximum power from solar photovoltaic panels while the battery charging controller is designed using a PI controller. A high-level control algorithm is then designed to switch between the lower level controllers based on different operating conditions such as high state of charge, low state of charge, maximum battery current, and heavy load by respecting the constraints formulated. The developed algorithm is evaluated using theoretical simula-tion and experimental studies. The simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the proposed technique. 展开更多

Automobiles evolved from primarily mechanical to electro-mechanical,or mechatronic,vehicles.For example,carburetors have been replaced by fuel injection and air-fuel ratio control,leading to order of magnitude improvements in fuel economy and emissions.Mechatronic systems are pervasive in modem automobiles and represent a synergistic integration of mechanics,electronics and computer science.They are smart systems,whose design is more challenging than the separate design of their mechanical,electronic and computer/control components.In this review paper,two recent methods for the design of mechatronic components are summarized and their applications to problems in automotive control are highlighted.First,the combined design,or co-design,of a smart artifact and its controller is considered.It is shown that the combined design of an artifact and its controller can lead to improved performance compared to sequential design.The coupling between the artifact and controller design problems is quantified,and methods for co-design are presented.The control proxy function method,which provides ease of design as in the sequential approach and approximates the performance of the co-design approach,is highlighted with application to the design of a passive/active automotive suspension.Second,the design for component swapping modularity(CSM)of a distributed controller for a smart product is discussed.CSM is realized by employing distributed controllers residing in networked smart components,with bidirectional communication over the network.Approaches to CSM design are presented,as well as applications of the method to a variable-cam-timing engine,and to enable battery swapping in a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. 展开更多

By designing a hybrid between the FGFR-selectivity-enhancing motif dimethoxybenzene group and our previously identified novel scaffold, we discovered a new series of potent FGFR inhibitors, with the best one showing sub-nanomolar enzymatic activity. After several round of optimization and with the solved crystal structure, detailed structure–activity relationship was elaborated. Together with in vitro metabolic stability tests and in vivo pharmacokinetic profiling, a representative compound(35) was selected and tested in xenograft mouse model, and the result demonstrated that inhibitor 35 was effective against tumors with FGFR genetic alterations, exhibiting potential for further development. 展开更多

We develop a theory for the magnon Kerr effect in a cavity magnonics system,consisting of magnons in a small yttrium iron garnet(YIG) sphere strongly coupled to cavity photons,and use it to study the bistability in this hybrid system.To have a complete picture of the bistability phenomenon,we analyze two different cases in driving the cavity magnonics system,i.e.,directly pumping the YIG sphere and the cavity,respectively.In both cases,the magnon frequency shifts due to the Kerr effect exhibit a similar bistable behavior but the corresponding critical powers are different.Moreover,we show how the bistability of the system can be demonstrated using the transmission spectrum of the cavity.Our results are valid in a wide parameter regime and generalize the theory of bistability in a cavity magnonics system. 展开更多

A hybrid isothermal model for the homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions in ferrohydrodynamic boundary layer flow is established.The characteristics of Newtonian heating and magnetic dipole in a ferrofluid due to a stretchable surface is analyzed for three chemical species.It is presumed that the isothermal cubic autocatalator kinetic gives the homogeneous reaction and the first order kinetics gives the heterogeneous(surface)reaction.The analysis is carried out for equal diffusion coefficients of all autocatalyst and reactions.Heat flux is examined by incorporating Fourier’s law of heat conduction.Characteristics of materialized parameters on the magneto-thermomechanical coupling in the flow of a chemically reactive species are investigated.Further,the heat transfer rate and friction drag are depicted for the ferrohydrodynamic chemically reactive species.It is evident that the Schmidt number has increasing behavior on the rate of heat transfer in the boundary layer.Comparison with available results for specific cases is found an excellent agreement. 展开更多
