The ability of climate models to correctly reproduce clouds and the radiative effects of clouds is vitally important in climate simulations and projections.In this study,simulations of the shortwave cloud radiative effect(SWCRE)using the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences Climate System Model(CAMS-CSM)are evaluated.The relationships between SWCRE and dynamic–thermodynamic regimes are examined to understand whether the model can simulate realistic processes that are responsible for the generation and maintenance of stratus clouds.Over eastern China,CAMS-CSM well simulates the SWCRE climatological state and stratus cloud distribution.The model captures the strong dependence of SWCRE on the dynamic conditions.Over the marine boundary layer regions,the simulated SWCRE magnitude is weaker than that in the observations due to the lack of low-level stratus clouds in the model.The model fails to simulate the close relationship between SWCRE and local stability over these regions.A sensitivity numerical experiment using a specifically designed parameterization scheme for the stratocumulus cloud cover confirms this assertion.Parameterization schemes that directly depict the relationship between the stratus cloud amount and stability are beneficial for improving the model performance. 展开更多

In this paper,the latest progress,major achievements and future plans of Chinese meteorological satellites and the core data processing techniques are discussed.First,the latest three FengYun(FY)meteorological satellites(FY-2H,FY-3D,and FY-4A)and their primary objectives are introduced Second,the core image navigation techniques and accuracies of the FY meteorological satellites are elaborated,including the latest geostationary(FY-2/4)and polar-orbit(FY-3)satellites.Third,the radiometric calibration techniques and accuracies of reflective solar bands,thermal infrared bands,and passive microwave bands for FY meteorological satellites are discussed.It also illustrates the latest progress of real-time calibration with the onboard calibration system and validation with different methods,including the vicarious China radiance calibration site calibration,pseudo invariant calibration site calibration,deep convective clouds calibration,and lunar calibration.Fourth,recent progress of meteorological satellite data assimilation applications and quantitative science produce are summarized at length.The main progress is in meteorological satellite data assimilation by using microwave and hyper-spectral infrared sensors in global and regional numerical weather prediction models.Lastly,the latest progress in radiative transfer,absorption and scattering calculations for satellite remote sensing is summarized,and some important research using a new radiative transfer model are illustrated. 展开更多

As a main component in water balance,evapotranspiration(ET)is of great importance for water saving,especially in arid and semi-arid areas.In this study,the FAO(Food and Agriculture Organization)Penman-Monteith model was used to estimate the magnitude and temporal dynamics of reference evapotranspiration(ET0)in 2014 in subalpine meadows of the Qilian Mountains,Northwest China.Meanwhile,actual ET(ETc)was also investigated by the eddy covariance(EC)system.Results indicated that ETc estimated by the EC System was 583 mm,lower than ET0(923 mm)estimated by the FAO Penman-Monteith model in 2014.Moreover,ET0 began to increase in March and reached the peak value in August and then declined in September,however,ETc began to increase from April and reached the peak value in July,and then declined in August.Total ETc and ET0 values during the growing season(from May to September)were 441 and 666 mm,respectively,which accounted for 75.73%of annual cumulative ETc and 72.34%of annual cumulative ET0,respectively.A crop coefficient(kc)was also estimated for calculating the ETc,and average value of kc during the growing season was 0.81(ranging from 0.45 to 1.16).Air temperature(Ta),wind speed(u),net radiation(Rn)and soil temperature(Ts)at the depth of 5 cm and aboveground biomass were critical factors for affecting kc,furthermore,a daily empirical kc equation including these main driving factors was developed.Our result demonstrated that the ETc value estimated by the data of kc and ET0 was validated and consistent with the growing season data in 2015 and 2016. 展开更多

With the rapid development of China s economic construction and the rapid advancement of urban-rural integration construction, meteorological detection environment has been damaged repeatedly, which seriously affects the representativeness, accuracy, and comparability of meteorological data, so it is urgent to protect meteorological detection environment. Based on the investigation and evaluation method of detection environment of national ground meteorological observation stations and high-altitude meteorological observation stations, satellite remote sensing data, and climate analysis method, the evaluation method of detection environment and meteorological data was improved to comprehensively assess the detection environment and meteorological data of stations. After the evaluation results were compared with the results of the survey and evaluation in 2013, it is found that the new assessment method maintains the continuity of detection environment assessment and can objectively reflect the changes of the station detection environment. The research on the method and standard for the evaluation of detection environment and data analysis of meteorological stations provides a scientific basis for the establishment of detection environmental protection plans by stations at all levels, and provides technical support for the scientific and rational adjustment of station network by administrative departments at all levels. 展开更多

为了完成海南省信息发布与监控平台与国家突发事件预警信息发布系统的整合,实现国家突发事件预警信息发布系统与海南省气象灾害预警信息制作系统及现有各类发布手段的自动对接,提高预警的发布时效性、减少业务人员的工作量,海南省气象... 为了完成海南省信息发布与监控平台与国家突发事件预警信息发布系统的整合,实现国家突发事件预警信息发布系统与海南省气象灾害预警信息制作系统及现有各类发布手段的自动对接,提高预警的发布时效性、减少业务人员的工作量,海南省气象局设计开发了"一整合、两对接"系统。该系统建设目标是为了完成"一整合、两对接",而国家突发事件预警信息发布的建设是不断扩展、不断完善的过程。因此该系统采用服务中间件的形式进行设计,这样既可保证系统的最大复用能力,又可保证扩充系统的最小影响性。该系统整合对接了海南省公共气象服务产品库、国家突发事件预警信息发布系统、海南省信息发布与监控平台,实现了预警信息一次录入可以发布到多种发布渠道。该系统目前已经投入使用,结果表明,该系统明显提高了业务一线人员的工作效率,减少了业务工作的疏漏,能够快速、准确、及时地向服务用户发布预警信息。 展开更多

Analysis on the Relationship between Air Pollution Status and Meteorological Factors in Zhumadian City 预览

Based on monitoring data of air quality and corresponding meteorological observation data in Zhumadian City during 2013-2015,temporalspatial distribution characteristics and influence factors of air pollution were analyzed. The results showed that >Grade II of pollution occupied a certain proportion in Zhumadian City throughout the year,and annual pollution probabilities at three stations were 11%,11% and 6%;serious pollution occurred for six times at three stations,and they all occurred in autumn and winter;pollution probabilities at three stations in autumn and winter were 18%,17% and 12%,and pollution situation in autumn and winter was more serious than that in spring and summer,and seasonal sequence of pollution frequency from low to high was spring,summer,autumn and winter. Seen from three monitoring stations,there was little difference between new and old industrial zones. Since Branch II of China Meheco Topfond Pharma Co.,Ltd. which represented largescale pollution source took pollution prevention measures,pollution was relatively light,but serious pollution was easy to appear. Seen from temporal change of pollutant concentration,monthly distribution characteristics of three kinds of air pollutants( SO2,NO2 and PM10) showed typical one-peak-one valley pattern,and peak occurred during December-January,while valley was during July-August. Due to straw burning,monthly change curve of PM10 concentration had two peaks in June and October. Dekad change characteristics of three kinds of air pollutants also showed one-peak-one-valley pattern,and peak occurred from middle dekad of December to middle dekad of January,while valley was from early dekad of July to last dekad of August. The concentration correlation among three kinds of pollutants was the most significant at station 3.Additionally,concentration correlation was significant in autumn and winter,but was relatively weaker in spring and summer. Subsequently,an index of short-term cumulative effect is established with air diffusive equation,and then the macro-scale meteorological situation and micro-scale factors of forming the short-term cumulative effect are discussed with the observation data. The macro-scale meteorological variables contain upper-level weather situations and surface weather situations. The micro-scale factors mainly include the boundary-layer height and boundary-layer stability. The analyses show that boundary-layer factors and weather variables have a significant influence on the short-term cumulative effect. A fault prediction method for catenary of high-speed rails based on meteorological conditions 预览

In this work, based on the historical data, catenary fault frequency and weather-related fault rate are introduced to analyse the correlation between catenary faults and meteorological conditions, and further the effect of meteorological conditions on catenary oper-ation. Moreover, machine learning is used for catenary fault prediction. As with the single decision tree, only a small number of training samples can be classified cor-rectly by each weak classifier, the AdaBoost algorithm is adopted to adjust the weights of misclassified samples and weak classifiers, and train multiple weak classifiers. Finally, the weak classifiers are combined to construct a strong classifier, with which the final prediction result is obtained. In order to validate the prediction method, an example is provided based on the historical data from a railway bureau of China. The result shows that the mapping relation between meteorological conditions and catenary faults can be established accurately by AdaBoost algorithm. The AdaBoost algorithm can accurately predict a catenary fault if the meteorological conditions are provided. 展开更多

Spatial-temporal variability of throughfall in a subtropical deciduous forest from the hilly regions of eastern China

Throughfall variability plays a crucial role in regulating hydrological and biogeochemical processes in forest ecosystems. However, throughfall variability and its potential influencing factors remain unclear in the subtropical deciduous forest because of its complex canopy and meteorological conditions. Here, the spatial variability and temporal stability of throughfall were investigated from October 2016 to December 2017 within a deciduous forest in the subtropical hilly regions of eastern China, and the effects of meteorological variables and distance from nearest tree trunk on throughfall variability were systematically evaluated. Throughfall variability during the leafed period was slightly higher than that during the leafless period inferred from the coefficient of variation of throughfall amounts(CVTF), with 13.2%-40.9% and 18.7%-31.9%, respectively. The multiple regression model analysis suggested that the controlling factors of throughfall variability were different in studied periods: Maximum 10-min rainfall intensity, wind speed and air temperature were the dominant influencing factors on throughfall variability during the leafed period, with the relative contribution ratio(RCR) of 25.9%, 18.7% and 8.9%, respectively. By contrast, throughfall variability was affected mainly by the mean rainfall intensity(RCR=40.8%) during the leafless period. The temporal stability plots and geostatistical analysis indicated that spatial patterns of throughfall were stable and similar among rainfall events. Our findings highlight the important role of various meteorological factors in throughfall variability and are expected to contribute to the accurate assessment of throughfall, soil water and runoff within the subtropical forests. 展开更多

In order to strengthen the construction of forestry meteorological service capacity and improve the quality of forestry meteorological services,the national forestry meteorological disaster risk survey and service benefit assessment were carried out from November 2016 to May2017. A total of 196 risk sites in Guangxi were collected by means of questionnaire survey,expert evaluation and field survey. The results showed that fire,pest and wind hazards are the main types of risk points in Guangxi. The survey showed that there were 77 monitoring stations around the disaster risk sites belonging to the Forestry Sector,which mainly monitor fire hazards,while other disasters had no monitoring point yet. Early warning facilities were still constantly improving. The meteorological disasters that affecting forestry production were drought,gale,and heavy rainfall,and the main meteorological hazard factors were temperature,wind speed,and precipitation. Forest fire prevention,forestry resources development and utilization,forestation and tending demand for meteorological services were relatively large. It was hoped that forestry meteorological service products would be obtained through telephone,SMS and early warning systems. In addition,experts objectivly evaluated the contribution rate of meteorological services in Guangxi. The contribution rate of forest meteorological services in the whole region was8. 41%. The scale of Guangxi’s total forestry output value was 31. 478 billion yuan in 2016. According to the calculation of this value,the service benefit value had reached 2. 647 billion yuan. In conclusion,strengthening the cooperation in forestry meteorological monitoring,technology development,and emergency response,and further improving forestry meteorological services and effective reducing forestry disaster losses are the top priorities of the meteorological department. 展开更多
