Optimization of organic light emitting diode for HAT-CN based nano-structured device by study of injection characteristics at anode/organic interface

To increase the current density of the hole only device, 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11-hexaazatriphenylene-hexacarbonitrile (HAT-CN) material has been inserted in the device at the indium tin oxide (ITO)/organic interface. Since HATCN molecule can withdraw electrons, it can alter electronic properties of the electrodes and hence inserted between the organic/metal interfaces. This paper deals with the optimization of the thickness of organic-metal layers to enhance the efficiency. Also, efforts have been made to increase the current density and reduce the operating voltage of the device. The material 2, 7-bis [N, N-bis (4- methoxy-phenyl) amino]-9, 9-spirobifluorene (Meo-Spiro-TPD) is used to simulate the hole only device because it is a thermally stable hole transport material. Simulated results shows that better current density values can be achieved compared to fabricated one by optimizing the organic metal layer thickness. The best optimized layer thickness of 22 nm for Alq3, 25 nm for *CBP doped with Ir(ppy)3, 9 nm for Meo-Spiro TPD and 4 nm for HAT-CN which results in current density of 0.12 A/cm2 with a reduction in operating voltage by approximately 2 V. 展开更多

AIM: To review imaging characteristics and surgical outcomes of orbital neurilemmoma. METHODS: Retrospective review of 21 patients with orbital neurilemmoma managed at the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University from June 2005 to December 2016. All patients underwent surgical excision following preoperative imaging including ultrasonography, computed tomography(CT) and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).RESULTS: Among these patients, 11 were male and 10 were female, with age ranging from 12 to 75y(average, 40.3 y). Ultrasound of the orbit showed a roundish well-demarcated orbital mass with low or middle internal reflectivity in each case. Dark inner liquid fields were detected in 28.6% of these cases. Doppler ultrasound demonstrated blood flow signals in these masses. CT showed that the tumors were either homogeneous or heterogeneous. MRI of T1 WI revealed isointense or hypointense tumors, while the T2 WI indicated heterogeneous hyperintense lesions. Gd contrast MRI demonstrated heterogenous or homogeneous enhancement initiating from the wide area of the lesion. Six patients underwent lateral orbitotomy and 15 anterior orbitotomy. All tumors were completely removed. After a mean followup of 1.8 y, 3 patients experienced reduced vision while the remaining 10 patients showed improved vision after surgery. One patient experienced a mild limitation of upward motility. No recurrence occurred. CONCLUSION: Orbital neurilemmoma is a relatively rare, benign orbital tumor. Effective diagnosis requires a combination of ultrasonography, CT and/or MRI. These imaging techniques are also vital to differentiate neurilemmomas from other orbital masses like that of cavernous hemangiomas and meningiomas.Successful treatment requires complete resection of the neurilemmomas as performed either by lateral or anterior orbitotomy. Recurrence is rare after complete removal. 展开更多

Sedimentary deposits of the Lower Cretaceous Xiagou Formation form the most significant potential hydrocarbon reservoirs in the Qingxi Sag,Jiuquan Basin(NW China).Zircon U-Pb ages of the dated basalts at the top of the Xiagou Formation give an isochron age of 115.6 Ma,and the sedimentation interval of the Xiagou Formation was speculated to range from about 125/124 Ma to 115 Ma based on paleontological research and stratigraphic correlation analysis.Here we use GR logging data as a palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic proxy to conduct a detailed cyclostratigraphic study of five selected wells.Power spectra,evolutionary fast Fourier transformation and wavelet analysis all reveal significant sedimentary cycles in the Xiagou Formation.The ratios of cycle wavelengths in these stratigraphic units are 33.82 m:7.91 m:3.06 m:1.79 m,which is similar to the ratio of orbital targets of 20:5:2:1.The ratio of 20:5:2:1 is interpreted as Milankovitch cycles of 405 kyr long eccentricity,100 kyr short eccentricity,37 kyr obliquity,and 22 kyr precession cycles respectively.A high-resolution astronomical time scale is constructed by tuning the stratigraphy into target curves of orbital cycles respectively.Based on the astronomical time scale,the absolute ages of 55 samples were estimated,which are used for subsequent stable carbon and oxygen isotope stratigraphy analysis.The analysis results of the five studied wells in the Qingxi Sag indicate:(1)a negative trend ofδ13C values upwards in the Xiagou Formation,and(2)negativeδ18O values with a positive trend upwards.Both relatively heavy values and pronounced covariances ofδ13C values andδ18O values indicate an arid-evaporationcontrolled climate during the sedimentary period of the Lower Cretaceous Xiagou Formation,Qingxi Sag,Jiuquan Basin.Moreover,positive covariances of SQK1g2t3 indicate extremely high temperature,and negative covariances of SQK1g1 indicate a relatively low temperature. 展开更多

A two-step model is presented to explain the far-field patterns of the harmonics. In the Erst step, a fundamental spot-shaped hole is produced during the hole-boring stage, and harmonics are genera ted simultaneously. In the second step, differen t oTder harmonics are diffracted by the hole and propagate to the far field. This process can be accurately described by the Fraunhofer diffraction theory. The distribution of dopants significantly influences the properties of semiconductors,yet effective modulation and separation of p-type and n-type dopants in homogeneous materials remain challenging,especially for nanostructures.Employing a bond orbital model with supportive atomistic simulations,we show that axial twisting can substantially modulate the radial distribution of dopants in Si nanowires(NWs)such that dopants of smaller sizes than the host atom prefer atomic sites near the NW core,while dopants of larger sizes are prone to staying adjacent to the NW surface.We attribute such distinct behaviors to the twist-induced inhomogeneous shear strain in NW.With this,our investigation on codoping pairs further reveals that with proper choices of codoping pairs,e.g.B and Sb,n-type and p-type dopants can be well separated along the NW radial dimension.Our findings suggest that twisting may lead to realizations of p–n junction configuration and modulation doping in single-crystalline NWs. 展开更多

We investigate the incoherent beams with two orthogonal polarizations in nonlocal nonlinear media, one of which is a fundamental Gaussian beam and the other is spiraling elliptic Hermite–Gaussian beam carrying the orbital angular momentum(OAM).Using the variational approach, we obtain the critical power and the critical OAM required for the vector spiraling elliptic Hermite–Gaussian solitons.In the strong nonlocality region, two components of the vector beam contribute to the nonlinear refractive index in a linear manner by the sum of their respective power.The nonlinear refractive index exhibits a circularly symmetrical profile in despite of the elliptic shapes for spiraling Hermite–Gaussian beams.We find that in the strong nonlocality region, the critical power and the rotational velocity are the same regardless of the relative ratio of the constituent powers.The nonlinear refractive index loses its circular symmetry in weak nonlocality region, and the nonlinear coupling effect is observed.Due to the radiation of the OAM, the damping of the rotation is predicted, and can be suppressed by decreasing the proportion of the spiraling elliptic component of the vector beam. 展开更多

Assessment of optic nerve and optic tract alterations in patients with orbital space-occupying lesions using probabilistic diffusion tractography

AIM: To investigate the diffusion changes in both the optic nerve and optic tract in orbital space-occupying lesion patients with decreased visual acuity, and its clinical significance using probabilistic diffusion tractography(PDT). METHODS: Twenty patients with orbital space-occupying lesions and 25 age-and gender-matched healthy persons were included. All patients and controls underwent routine orbital magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor imaging(DTI), using a 3.0 T magnetic resonance scanner(Trio Tim Siemens). After the image data were preprocessed, each DTI parameters of the optic nerve and optic tract was obtained by PDT, including fractional anisotropy(FA), mean diffusivity(MD), axial diffusivity(AD) and radial diffusivity(RD). The asymmetry index(AI) of each parameter was calculated. Compared the parameters of the affected side optic nerve and ipsilateral optic tract with the contralateral side by paired sample t-test;compared AI of parameters of optic nerve and optic tract between the patient group and the control group by independent sample t-test. Patients were divided into threesubgroups according to the low vision grade standard of WHO, compared the FA and AI of FA between the three subgroups by single factor variance analysis. RESULTS: The affected side optic nerve presented significantly decreased FA, increased MD, AD, and RD values compared to the unaffected side(P<0.05). The AI of FA, MD, AD, and RD of optic nerve in the patients was significantly higher than that of the controls(P<0.05). The comparison results of the optic tract showed that there was no significant difference between the patient group and control group in terms of the bilateral optic tracts in patients(P>0.05). The AIs of the FA value of the optic nerve in the eyesight <0.1 subgroup was significantly higher than that in the other groups(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: FA, MD, AD, and RD of the affected side optic nerve of the orbital space-occupying lesions have significantly changed, the FA value is the most sensitive. The PDT 展开更多

Optical vortices carrying orbital angular momentum(OAM)have attracted extensive attention in recent decades because of their interesting applications in optical trapping,optical machining,optical communication,quantum information,and optical microscopy.Intriguing effects induced by OAMs,such as angular momentum conversion,spin Hall effect of light(SHEL),and spin– orbital interaction,have also gained increasing interest.In this article,we provide an overview of the modulations of OAMs on the propagation dynamics of scalar and vector fields in free space.First,we introduce the evolution of canonical and noncanonical optical vortices and analyze the modulations by means of local spatial frequency.Second,we review the Pancharatnam–Berry(PB)phases arising from spin–orbital interaction and reveal the control of beam evolution referring to novel behavior such as spindependent splitting and polarization singularity conversion.Finally,we discuss the propagation and focusing properties of azimuthally broken vector vortex beams. 展开更多

Utilizing first-principles band structure method, we studied the trends of electronic structures and band offsets of the common-anion heterojunctions GaX/ZnGeX2 (X = N, P, As, Sb). Here, ZnGeX2 can be derived by atomic transmutation of two Ga atoms in GaX into one Zn atom and one Ge atom. The calculated results show that the valence band maximums (VBMs) of GaX are always lower in energy than that of ZnGeX2, and the band offset decreases when the anion atomic number increases. The conduction band minimums (CBMs) of ZnGeX2 are lower than that of GaX for X = P, As, and Sb, as expected. However, surprisingly, for ZnGeN2, its CBM is higher than GaN. We found that the coupling between anion p and cation d states plays a decisive role in determining the position of the valence band maximum, and the increased electronegativity of Ge relative to Ga explains the lower CBMs of ZnGeX2 for X = P, As, and Sb. Meanwhile, due to the high ionicity, the strong coulomb interaction is the origin of the anomalous behavior for nitrides. 展开更多

The orbit infiltrating CD34+ fibrocytes add on to the process by expressing high levels of autoantigens and inflammatory cytokines, while also differentiating into myofibroblasts or adipocytes. This review focuses on the role of orbital fibroblasts and CD34+ fibrocytes in the pathogenesis of TAO, highlighting the basis of emerging treatments. 展开更多

A comparison of differently polarized Bessel vortex beams propagating through a uniaxial anisotropic slab is discussed in terms of the vector wave function expansions.The magnitude profiles of electric field components, the transformation of polarization modes, and the distributions of orbital angular momentum(OAM) states of the reflected and transmitted beams for different incident angles are numerically simulated.The results indicate that the magnitude profiles of electric field components for different polarization modes are distinct from each other and have a great dependence on the incident angle,thus the transformation of polarization modes which reflects the change of energy can be affected largely.As compared to the x and circular polarization incidences, the reflected and transmitted beams for the radial polarization incidence suffer the fewest transformation of polarization modes, showing a better energy invariance.The distributions of OAM states of the reflected and transmitted beams for different polarization modes are diverse as well, and the derived OAM states of the transmitted beam for radial polarization present a focusing effect, concentrating on the state between two predominant OAM states. 展开更多

Purpose: Primary reconstruction via transconjunctival approach is a standardized treatment option for orbital floor fractures. The aim of this study was to compare the findings of specific ophthalmologic assessment with the patient's complaints after fracture reduction. Methods: A retrospective medical chart analysis was performed on patients who had undergone transconjunctival orbital floor fracture reduction for fracture therapy with resorbable foil (ethisorb sheet or polydioxanone foil). A follow-up assessment including ophthalmological evaluation regarding visual acuity (eye chart projector), binocular visual field screening (Bagolini striated glasses test) and diplopia (cover test, Hess screen test) was conducted. Additionally, a questionnaire was performed to assess patients' satisfaction. Results: A total of 53 patients with a mean follow-up of 23 months (ranging from 11 to 72) after surgical therapy were included. Diplopia was present preoperatively in 23 (43.4%) and reduced in follow-up examination (n = 12, 22.6%). Limitations in ocular motility reduced from 37.7% to 7.5%. The questionnaire about the patient's satisfaction revealed excellent outcomes in relation to the functional and esthetical parameters. Conclusion: Transconjunctival approach is a safe approach for orbital fracture therapy. Postoperative diplopia is nearly never perceptible for the individual and differs to pathologic findings in the ophthalmic assessment. 展开更多

High-power orbital angular momentum(OAM)beams have distinct advantages in improving capacity and data receiving for free-space optical communication systems at long distances.Utilizing the coherent combination of a beam array technique and helical phase approximation by a piston phase array,we have proposed a generating system for a novel high-power beam carrying OAM,which could overcome the power limitations of a common vortex phase modulator and a single beam.The characteristics of this generating method and the orthogonality of the generated OAM beams with different eigenstates have been theoretically analyzed and verified.Also a high-power OAM beam produced by coherent beam combination(CBC)of a six-element hexagonal fiber amplifier array has been experimentally implemented.Results show that the CBC technique utilized to control the piston phase differences among the array beams has a high efficiency of 96.3%.On the premise of CBC,we have obtained novel vortex beams carrying OAM of±1 by applying an additional piston phase array modulation on the corresponding beam array.The experimental results agree approximately with the theoretical analysis.This work could be beneficial to areas that need high-power OAM beams,such as ultra-long distance free-space optical communications,biomedical treatments,and powerful trapping and manipulation under deep potential wells. 展开更多

An improved frequency shift method is proposed to remove the flat earth phase in ATI-SAR ocean surface motion detection in this study. First, two conventional flat earth effect removal methods(i.e., the frequency shift method and the orbital parameter method) are introduced and compared. Then, two improvements to frequency shift method are suggested. In the first improvement, the phase diagram is divided into several sub-blocks to calculate the phase fringe frequency. In the second improvement, a function between the phase of land regions and position is fitted to correct the residual flat earth phase based on the phase of the land regions that tend toward zero in an along-track interferogram. It is found that the improved frequency shift method is greatly improved;and it agrees well with the orbital parameter method, and achieves similar accuracy. 展开更多

A new 2D coordination polymer, {[Cd5(BTC)2(L)4(H2O)2]n·2H2O}n(1, H3BTC = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid, HL = 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole) was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder XRD, IR, TGA, fluorescence spectrum and elemental analysis techniques. Complex 1 belongs to the monoclinic system, P21/c space group, with a = 8.8732(4), b = 17.5179(7), c = 17.8123(7) ?, β = 103.1830(10)°, V = 2695.77(19) ?3 and Z = 2. It features a 2D network constructed by BTC and L ligand. In addition, we analyzed Natural Bond Orbital(NBO) by using the PBE0/LANL2DZ method built in Gaussian 09 Program. The calculation results indicated obvious covalent interactions between the coordinated atoms and Cd(Ⅱ) ion. 展开更多
