After sixteen years of civil war the Mozambican government led by the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO) and the Mozambican National Resistance (RENAMO) have signed the General Peace Agreement (GPA) in Rome, Italy, on 4th October 1992. The agreement that ended the war resulted from a negotiation process initiated following the hurting stalemate situation between the two conflicting parties. In the context of the implementation of such agreement the country experienced, successfully, the first multiparty elections in 1994 with the participation of FRELIMO and RENAMO - former military enemies as well as other political parties without any case of war resumption. This article seeks to identify the determinants factors for peace maintenance in Mozambique from the General Peace Agreement (GPA) to the first multiparty elections. Besides the important support provided by the international community, this article argues that the implementation of power sharing arrangements established in the context of GPA, namely,(1) military power sharing,(2) administrative and territorial power sharing, and (3) power sharing within the electoral institutions played an important role for peace maintenance in Mozambique during the period mentioned above. 展开更多

With the proposed concept of global energy interconnection, half-wavelength alternating current transmission(HWACT) technology becomes of more interest.HWACT lines can be adopted to establish a pointto-grid system, in which the penetrating power(PP) is produced between receiving terminals, having a significant effect on the power flow distribution.In order to investigate this phenomenon, the PP characteristics of the HWACT system are researched in this paper.First, the mathematical relationship between the transmission power and terminal bus voltages of a single HWACT line is derived using the equations of a distributed parameter model.The research indicates that the relationship between power and terminal voltages shows ‘‘reverse characteristics'opposite to those of regular short transmission lines.Then, the concept and definition of PP in a point-to-grid system with two receiving terminals are proposed, and the corresponding relationship between PP and the terminal bus voltages is derived.Simulations are carried out to validate the theory under different conditions, so that the accuracy and adaptiveness of the theoretical analysis can be proved.In addition, the results demonstrate that selecting the location for a HWACT system has demanding requirements in order to control the value of PP. 展开更多

Wireless power transfer(WPT)to support mobile and portable devices is an emerging wireless technique.Among all kinds of approaches,magnetic resonance coupling(MRC)is an excellent one for mid-range WPT,which provides better mobility,flexibility,and convenience due to its simplicity in hardware implementation and longer transmission distances.In this paper,we consider an MRCWPT system with multiple power transmitters,one intended power receiver and multiple unintended power receivers.We investigate the probabilistic robust beamforming designs and provide efficient algorithms to achieve the local optimums under two different criteria,i.e.,total source power minimization problem and min-max unintended receiving power restriction problem.As the problems are quite typical in robust design situations,our proposed robust beamformers can be conveniently applied to other probabilistic robust design problems,thus reduce the complexity as well as improve the beamforming performance.Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms can significantly improve the performance as well as the robustness of the WPT system. 展开更多

Probabilistic small signal stability analysis of power system with wind power and photovoltaic power based on probability collocation method

Recently, with increasing improvements in the penetration of wind power and photovoltaic power in the world, probabilistic small signal stability analysis(PSSSA) of a power system consisting of multiple types of renewable energy has become a key problem. To address this problem, this study proposes a probabilistic collocation method(PCM)-based PSSSA for a power system consisting of wind farms and photovoltaic farms. Compared with the conventional Monte Carlo method, the proposed method meets the accuracy and precision requirements and greatly reduces the computation;therefore, it is suitable for the PSSSA of this power system. Case studies are conducted based on a 4-machine 2-area and New England systems, respectively. The simulation results show that, by reducing synchronous generator output to improve the penetration of renewable energy, the probabilistic small signal stability(PSSS) of the system is enhanced. Conversely, by removing part of the synchronous generators to improve the penetration of renewable energy, the PSSS of the system may be either enhanced or deteriorated. 展开更多

For building Global Energy Interconnection(GEI), it is necessary to implement new breakthroughs on largepower system simulation. Key routes for implementing full electromagnetic transient simulation of large-power systems are described in this paper, and a top framework is designed. A combination of the new large time step algorithm and the traditional small-time step algorithm is proposed where both parts A and B are calculated independently. The method for integrating the Norton equivalence of the power electronic system to the entire power grid is proposed. A two-level gird division structure is proposed, which executes a multi-rate parallel calculation among subsystems and element parallel calculation in each subsystem. The initialization method of combining load flow derivation and automatic trial-and-error launching is introduced. The feasibility of the method is demonstrated through a practical power grid example, which lays a foundation for further research. 展开更多

Until very recently, gallium oxide(Ga2O3) has aroused more and more interests in the area of power electronics due to its ultra-wide bandgap of 4.5–4.8 eV, estimated critical field of 8 MV/cm and decent intrinsic electron mobility limit of250 cm2/(V·s), yielding a high Baliga’s figures-of-merit(FOM) of more than 3000, which is several times higher than GaN and SiC.In addition to its excellent material properties, potential low-cost and large size substrate through melt-grown methodology also endows β-Ga2O3 more potential for future low-cost power devices. This article focuses on reviewing the most recent advances ofβ-Ga2O3 based power devices. It will be starting with a brief introduction to the material properties of β-Ga2O3 and then the growth techniques of its native substrate, followed by the thin film epitaxial growth. The performance of state-of-art β-Ga2O3 devices, including diodes and FETs are fully discussed and compared. Finally, potential solutions to the challenges of β-Ga2O3 are also discussed and explored. 展开更多

A study has been made on the reflected and transmitted powers generated when an arbitrarily polarized plane wave impinges at a planar interface separating an isotropic achiral medium(IAM) and an isotropic chiral medium(ICM). It follows that the theoretical formulas are derived for the normalized reflection and transmission powers from an IAM–ICM interface for an arbitrary polarized incident wave, and those at an ICM–IAM interface for right-hand circularly polarized(RCP) or left-hand circularly polarized(LCP) incident wave are also obtained. The behavior of the reflected and transmitted waves in different cases is studied, and the dependence of the reflection/transmission of the incident wave on the incident angle and the parameters of the media is investigated in detail. Our numerical results show that high transmission is exhibited under the impedance matching condition and the incident wave can be split into two waves of the same circular polarization state in the case of the ICM–IAM interface, which indicates that circular polarizing beam splitter is achieved. 展开更多

二战结束以来,一直是美国和欧洲充当全球治理的领导者。随着全球化的深入发展和国际格局的发展变化,西方主导的全球治理面临前所未有的挑战。近年来,全球治理乱象频出。随着中国实力的增长,中国参与全球治理的过程也从被动参与到主动推... 二战结束以来,一直是美国和欧洲充当全球治理的领导者。随着全球化的深入发展和国际格局的发展变化,西方主导的全球治理面临前所未有的挑战。近年来,全球治理乱象频出。随着中国实力的增长,中国参与全球治理的过程也从被动参与到主动推进,并逐步成为全球治理的引领者。这种引领既是国内外形势的发展使然,也是中国在全球治理过程中自信自觉的表现。当下中国在引领全球治理过程中遇到的问题主要有以下三个方面:一是引领全球治理的合法性问题;二是全球治理成本的平衡问题;三是引领全球治理过程中的权力分配问题。解决以上难题,我们要总结历史经验,统筹规划,制定切实可行的措施,先易后难,分阶段落实。现阶段应着重关注以下几个方面:首先,引领全球治理要坚持人类命运共同体的价值取向;其次,针对全球治理的不同主体要坚持权责一致,开放包容的价值理念;最后,在全球治理的行动中要坚持'共商、共建、共享'的原则。与此同时要提高中国自身的国家治理能力,完善国家治理体系。 展开更多

High nitrate(NO3-)loading in water bodies is a crucial factor inducing the eutrophication of lakes.We tried to enhance NO3-reduction in overlying water by coupling sediment microbial fuel cells(SMFCs)with submerged aquatic plant Ceratophyllum demersum.A comparative study was conducted by setting four treatments:open-circuit SMFC(Control),closed-circuit SMFC(SMFC-c),open-circuit SMFC with C.demersum(Plant),and closed-circuit SMFC with C.demersum(P-SMFC-c).The electrochemical parameters were documented to illustrate the bio-electrochemical characteristics of SMFC-c and P-SMFC-c.Removal pathways of NO3- in different treatments were studied by adding quantitative15NO3- to water column.The results showed that the cathodic reaction in SMFC-c was mainly catalyzed by aerobic organisms attached on the cathode,including algae,Pseudomonas,Bacillus,and Albidiferax.The oxygen secreted by plants significantly improved the power generation of SMFC-c.Both electrogenesis and plants enhanced the complete removal of NO3- from the sediment–water system.The complete removal rates of added15N increased by 17.6% and 10.2% for SMFC-c and plant,respectively,when compared with control at the end of experiment.The electrochemical/heterotrophic and aerobic denitrification on cathodes mainly drove the higher reduction of NO3- in SMFC-c and plant,respectively.The coexistence of electrogenesis and plants further increased the complete removal of NO3- with a rate of 23.1%.The heterotrophic and aerobic denitrifications were simultaneously promoted with a highest abundance of Flavobacterium,Bacillus,Geobacter,Pseudomonas,Rhodobacter,and Arenimonas on the cathode. 展开更多

Assessment of the power deposition on the MEGAPIE spallation target using the GEANT4 toolkit 预览

This work aims at evaluating the reliability of the GEANT4 (GEometry ANd Tracking 4) Monte Carlo (MC) toolkit in calculating the power deposition on the Megawatt Pilot Experiment (MEGAPIE), the first liquid– metal spallation target worldwide. A new choice of codes to study and optimize this target is provided. The evaluation of the GEANT4 toolkit is carried out in comparison with the MCNPX and FLUKA MC codes. The MEGAPIE is an international project led by the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland. It aims to demonstrate the safe operation of an intense neutron source to power the next generation of nuclear reactors, accelerator-driven systems (ADSs). In this study, we used the GEANT4 MC toolkit to calculate the power deposited by fast protons on the MEGAPIE target. The calculation focuses on several structures and regions. The predictions of our calculations were compared and discussed with that of the MCNPX and FLUKA codes, adopted by the MEGAPIE project. The comparison shows that there is a very good agreement between our results and those of the reference codes. 展开更多
