In today’s society, the Internet, big data and artificial intelligence are being integrated and the mechanisms of resource allocations are also evolving, mainly because of the changes in background factors, means, and processes that influence resource allocation. To analyze and study this evolution, we need to combine resource allocation, industrial organization, and industrial regulation theories to determine the driving and restricting factors new technologies bring to business-to-business and business-to-consumer interactions and how the combination of internet, big data and AI will impact productivity and pricing. We must also analyze the differences between today’s supply-demand and pricing processes and those of the industrial age to discover whether there are special resource allocation mechanisms in this era and how to summarize them theoretically. This paper reviews the evolved resource allocation mechanisms at the present stage of the integration of the Internet, big data and AI based on resource allocation theories from classical Marxian, neoclassical, and modern western economics. 展开更多

Mean-field Macro Computation in Large-scale Cloud Service Systems with Resource Management and Job Scheduling

Service computing is an emerging and distributed computing mode in cloud service systems, and has become an interesting research direction for both academia and industry. Note that the cloud service systems always display new characteristics, such as stochasticity, large scale, loose coupling, concurrency non-homogeneity and heterogeneity;thus their load balancing investigation has been more interesting, difficult and challenging until now. By using resource management and job scheduling, this paper proposes an integrated, real-time and dynamic control mechanism for large-scale cloud service systems and their load balancing through combining supermarket models with not only work stealing models but also scheduling of public reserved resource. To this end, this paper provides a novel stochastic model with weak interactions by means of nonlinear Markov processes. To overcome theoretical difficulties growing out of the state explosion in high-dimensional stochastic systems, this paper applies the mean-field theory to develop a macro computational technique in terms of an infinite-dimensional system of mean-field equations. Furthermore, this paper proves the asymptotic independence of the large-scale cloud service system, and show how to compute the fixed point by virtue of an infinite-dimensional system of nonlinear equations. Based on the fixed point, this paper provides effective numerical computation for performance analysis of this system under a high approximate precision. Therefore, we hope that the methodology and results given in this paper can be applicable to the study of more general large-scale cloud service systems. 展开更多

Onshore-offshore wind energy resource evaluation based on synergetic use of multiple satellite data and meteorological stations in Jiangsu Province,China

The demand for efficient and cost-effective renewable energy is increasing as traditional sources of energy such as oil,coal,and natural gas,can no longer satisfy growing global energy demands.Among renewable energies,wind energy is the most prominent due to its low, manageable impacts on the local environment.Based on meteorological data from 2006 to 2014 and multi-source satellite data (i.e.,Advanced Scatterometer,Quick Scatterometer,and Windsat)from 1999 to 2015,an assessment of the onshore and offshore wind energy potential in Jiangsu Province was performed by calculating the average wind speed,average wind direction,wind power density, and annual energy production (AEP).Results show that Jiangsu has abundant wind energy resources,which increase from inland to coastal areas.In-onshore areas, wind power density is predominantly less than 200 W/m^2, while in offshore areas,wind power density is concentrates in the range of 328-500 W/m^2.Onshore areas comprise more than 13,573.24 km^2,mainly located in eastern coastal regions with good wind farm potential The total wind power capacity in onshore areas could be as much as 2.06×10^5 GWh.Meanwhile,offshore wind power generation in Jiangsu Province is calculated to reach 2×10^6 GWh, which is approximately four times the electricity demand of the entire Jiangsu Province.This study validates the effective application of Advanced Scatterometer,Quick Scatterometer,and Windsat data to coastal wind energy monitoring in Jiangsu.Moreover,the methodology used in this study can be effectively applied to other similar coastal zones. 展开更多

Gl obal recoverable resources of heavy oil and oil sands have been assessed by CNPC using a geology-based assessment method combined with the traditional volumetric method,spatial interpolation method,parametric-probability method etc.The most favourable areas for exploration have been selected in accordance with a comprehensive scoring system.The results show:(1)For geological resources,CNPC estimate 991.18 billion tonnes of heavy oil and 501.26 billion tonnes of oil sands globally,of which technically recoverable resources of heavy oil and oil sands comprise 126.74 billion tonnes and 64.13 billion tonnes respectively.More than 80%of the resources occur within Tertiary and Cretaceous reservoirs distributed across 69 heavy-oil basins and 32 oil-sands basins.99%of recoverable resources of heavy oil and oil sands occur within foreland basins,passive continental-margin basins and cratonic basins.(2)Since residual hydrocarbon resources remain following large-scale hydrocarbon migration and destruction,heavy oil and oil sands are characterized most commonly by late hydrocarbon accumulation,the same basin types and source-reservoir conditions as for conventional hydrocarbon resources,shallow burial depth and stratabound reservoirs.(3)Three accumulation models are recognised,depending on basin type:degradation along slope;destruction by uplift;and migration along faults.(4)In addition to mature exploration regions such as Canada and Venezuela,the Volga-Ural Basin and the Pre-Caspian Basin are less well-explored and have good potential for oil-sand discoveries,and it is predicted that the Middle East will be an important region for heavy-oil development. 展开更多

Resource description framework(RDF)stream is useful to model spatio-temporal data.In this paper,we propose a framework for large-scale RDF stream processing,LRSP,to process general continuous queries over large-scale RDF streams.Firstly,we propose a formalization(named CT-SPARQL)to represent the general continuous queries in a unified,unambiguous way.Secondly,based on our formalization we propose LRSP to process continuous queries in a common white-box way by separating RDF stream processing,query parsing,and query execution.Finally,we implement and evaluate LRSP with those popular continuous query engines on some benchmark datasets and real-world datasets.Due to the architecture of LRSP,many efficient query engines(including centralized and distributed engines)for RDF can be directly employed to process continuous queries.The experimental results show that LRSP has a higher performance,specially,in processing large-scale real-world data. 展开更多

Coordinated partitioning and resource sharing have attracted considerable research interest in the field of real-time multiprocessor systems.However,finding an optimal partition is widely known as NP-hard,even for independent tasks.A recently proposed resource-oriented partitioned(ROP)fixed-priority scheduling that partitions tasks and shared resources respectively has been shown to achieve a non-trivial speedup factor guarantee,which promotes the research of coordinated scheduling to a new level.Despite the theoretical elegance,the schedulability performance of ROP scheduling is restricted by the heuristic partitioning methods used in the original study.In this paper,we address the partitioning problem for tasks and shared resources under the ROP scheduling.A unified schedulability analysis framework for the ROP scheduling is proposed in the first place.A sophisticated partitioning approach based on integer linear programming(ILP)is then proposed based on the unified analysis.Empirical results show that the proposed methods improve the schedulability of ROP scheduling significantly,and the runtime complexity for searching a solution is reduced prominently compared with other ILP-based approaches as well. 展开更多

Dispersal is an important area of ecological and evolutionary research.Although many studies have been conducted in mammals and birds,dispersal pattern in amphibians is still unclear.To verify dispersal patterns of amphibians,an endangered species the Emei Moustache Toad(Leptobrachium boringii)was selected.In this study,we analyzed six genetic parameters:inbreeding coefficient(FIS),gene diversity(HS),the mean of corrected assignment index(mAIC),the variance of corrected assignment index(vAIC),relatedness(r)for all three years together and each year separately based on eight highly polymorphic microsatellite loci.Data in totaled across years and each year for 581 individuals captured during 2013–2015 revealed a significant female-biased dispersal pattern.Significantly higher FIS and HS in females,and lower mAIC and r for each year separately in females support that L.boringii displays femalebiased dispersal,although r for the total dataset and vAIC tests did not show significant differences between the sexes.Female-biased dispersal patterns may be explained by the local resource competition hypothesis. 展开更多
