Mo fibers were added to RMC with different mass ratios of resin and hardener to improve its mechanical properties. The influences of fiber surface state and hardener content on interface bonding strength and mechanical properties of RMC were studied, respectively. Furthermore, strain values of typical measuring points on samples of Mo fiber reinforced RMC(MFRRMC) under different loads were obtained by experiments and finite element analysis. The experimental results prove that scrap Mo fibers can improve interface bonding strength and mechanical properties of RMC better than new smooth Mo fibers because of the discharge pits randomly distributed on the surface of scrap fibers. With the decrease of hardener content, not only interface bonding strength between fiber and matrix, but also compression and flexural strength of MFRRMC increase firstly and then decrease. The properties are best while the mass ratio of resin and hardener reaches 4:1. It is indicated that finite element calculation data basically agree with experimental data by comparison of strain values on typical measuring points, which can provide an important intuitive reference for successive study on other mechanical properties of MFRRMC, validating the correctness of simulation method as well. 展开更多

The HoekeBrown criterion was introduced in 1980 to provide input for the design of underground excavations in rock.The criterion now incorporates both intact rock and discontinuities,such as joints,characterized by the geological strength index(GSI),into a system designed to estimate the mechanical behaviour of typical rock masses encountered in tunnels,slopes and foundations.The strength and deformation properties of intact rock,derived from laboratory tests,are reduced based on the properties of discontinuities in the rock mass.The nonlinear HoekeBrown criterion for rock masses is widely accepted and has been applied in many projects around the world.While,in general,it has been found to provide satisfactory estimates,there are several questions on the limits of its applicability and on the inaccuracies related to the quality of the input data.This paper introduces relatively few fundamental changes,but it does discuss many of the issues of utilization and presents case histories to demonstrate practical applications of the criterion and the GSI system. 展开更多

Current study, respectively, focused on the effect of different friction pressure on micro-structural and mechanical properties of that friction welding joint interface. Presently, these friction pressures are 110, 130, 150 and 170 MPa while kept all other conditions constant. The effects of different friction pressure on welding interface characterization were investigated by EDX, SEM, tensile, compression, impact and hardness tests. The tensile tests carried out on the standardized test piece with diameter 6 mm and 8 mm, thus, compression tests were extracted from the positions of 0°, 45°& 90° with test specimen of 4 mm diameter and 6.5 mm length at weld center. Whereas, the impact test pieces were picked up in two positions, the first one is symmetrical, which it obtained to the respect of the rotation axis and the interface, on the other hand, the second one is non-symmetrical with the axis of rotation and symmetrical to the interface, for making the notch head coincide with the center of the welded joint, The obtained results showed that with reducing of friction pressure will present lack of bonding increasing from peripheral toward the welding center, which will responsible on reducing of the mechanical properties such as tensile, compression and impact strength. 展开更多

Mechanical Properties of Reactive Powder Concretes Produced Using Pumice Powder

We examined the applicability of the pumice aggregate on the concrete formed by considering the reactive powder concrete mixture ratios, for the rigid superstructure concrete road pavement and building construction. The natural pumice aggregate in fibrous and non-fibrous concrete samples was used in the production of concrete by fracturing in 0.1-0.6 mm dimensions in rotor mill. The concreted formed in this way is named after the pumice powder concrete(PPC). The PPC samples produced were taken 7 days as 20 ℃ standard water cure, 28 days as 20 ℃ standard cure and 9 different types of combined cures. The combined cures were applied different temperatures in different durations. PPC samples were subjected to some pressure and flexural tests at the end of the standard water and combined cures. The highest compressive and flexural strengths of PPC samples were obtained after the combined cures: 3 days in 20 ℃ as standard water curing + 2 days in 180 ℃ in drying-oven. The highest compressive strength of PPC samples without any fiber was found to be 47.27 MPa, as for the highest flexural strength, it is found to be 5.23 MPa, in the end of the study. The highest compressive strength of fibrous PPC samples was 51.12 MPa, while flexural strength was 6.57 MPa. 展开更多

Polyacrylamide hydrogel application in sand control with compressive strength testing

Sand production is one of the major problems in sandstone reservoirs.Different mechanical and chemical methods have been proposed to control sand production.In this paper,we propose a chemical method based on using polyacrylamide/chromium triacetate hydrogel to investigate sand production in a synthetic sandpack system.To this end,a series of bulk experiments including the bottle test and rheological analysis along with compression tests were conducted.Experimental results indicated that the compressive strength of the sandpack was increased as much as 30 times by injecting 0.5 pore volume of hydrogel.Also,it was found that the increases in cross-linker and polymer concentrations exhibited a positive impact on the compressive strength of the sandpack,mostly by cross-linker concentration(48 psi).Hydrogel with a higher value of cross-linker could retain its viscoelastic properties against the strain which was a maximum of 122%for 0.5 weight ratio of cross-linker/polymer.The presence of salts,in particular divalent cations,has a detrimental effect on the hydrogel stability.The maximum strain value applied on hydrogel in the presence of CaCl2 was only about 201%as compared to 1010%in the presence of distilled water.Finally,thermogravimetric analysis and its derivative showed that the hydrogel could retain its structure up to 300°C.The results of this study revealed the potential application of the hydrogel to control sand production. 展开更多

为了研究次轻页岩集料混凝土的基本力学性能,以取代率为变化参数,用碎石、河砂分别取代全轻混凝土中的陶粒、陶砂,配制形成石轻混凝土、砂轻混凝土。对其立方体抗压强度、轴心抗压强度、劈裂抗拉强度、抗折强度、弹性模量和泊松比等基... 为了研究次轻页岩集料混凝土的基本力学性能,以取代率为变化参数,用碎石、河砂分别取代全轻混凝土中的陶粒、陶砂,配制形成石轻混凝土、砂轻混凝土。对其立方体抗压强度、轴心抗压强度、劈裂抗拉强度、抗折强度、弹性模量和泊松比等基本力学性能指标开展了试验研究,获取了次轻页岩集料混凝土的受力破坏形态,分析了取代率对次轻页岩集料混凝土力学性能指标的影响规律。建立了次轻页岩集料混凝土弹性模量、轴心抗压强度与立方体抗压强度换算关系、拉压比与泊松比关系等计算模型。研究结果表明:随着碎石、河砂取代率的增加,次轻页岩集料混凝土的立方体抗压强度、轴心抗压强度、劈裂抗拉强度及抗折强度逐渐增大,弹性模量逐渐增大;石轻混凝土的泊松比呈先减小后增大的变化规律;砂轻混凝土的泊松比则逐渐减小。通过引入取代率影响参数,所建立的计算模型简单实用,计算精度良好。 展开更多

The present discussion aims at complementing the original work published by Baldovino et al.(2018)by outlining a novel point of view.In light of the inherent limitations associated with the empirical model suggested in the original article,the dimensional analysis technique was introduced to the soil-lime strength problem,thereby leading to the development of simple and physically meaningful dimensional models capable of predicting the unconfined compressive and splitting tensile strengths of compacted soil-lime mixtures as a function of the mixture’s index properties,i.e.lime content,initial placement(or compaction)condition,initial specific surface area and curing time.The predictive capacity of the proposed dimensional models was examined and validated by statistical techniques.The proposed dimensional models contain a limited number of fitting parameters,which can be calibrated by minimal experimental effort and hence implemented for predictive purposes. 展开更多

Reliability-based design in rock engineering:Application of Bayesian regression methods to rock strength data 预览

Reliability-based design (RBD) is being adopted by geotechnical design codes worldwide, and it is therefore necessary that rock engineering practice evolves to embrace RBD. This paper examines the Hoek-Brown (H-B) strength criterion within the RBD framework, and presents three distinct analyses using a Bayesian approach. Firstly, a compilation of intact compressive strength test data for six rock types is used to examine uncertainty and variability in the estimated H-B parameters m and σc, and corresponding predicted axial strength. The results suggest that within- and between-rock type variabilities are so large that these parameters need to be determined from rock testing campaigns, rather than reference values being used. The second analysis uses an extensive set of compressive and tensile (both direct and indirect) strength data for a granodiorite, together with a new Bayesian regression model, to develop joint probability distributions of m and σc suitable for use in RBD. This analysis also shows how compressive and indirect tensile strength data may be robustly used to fit an H-B criterion. The third analysis uses the granodiorite data to investigate the important matter of developing characteristic strength criteria. Using definitions from Eurocode 7, a formal Bayesian interpretation of characteristic strength is proposed and used to analyse strength data to generate a characteristic criterion. These criteria are presented in terms of characteristic parameters mk and σck, the values of which are shown to depend on the testing regime used to obtain the strength data. The paper confirms that careful use of appropriate Bayesian statistical analysis allows the H-B criterion to be brought within the framework of RBD. It also reveals that testing guidelines such as the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) suggested methods will require modification in order to support RBD. Modulus of Elasticity (MOE)is a key parameter in reinforced concrete design.It represents the stressstrain relationship in the elastic range and is used in the prediction of concrete structures.Out of range estimation of MOE in the existing codes of practice strongly affect the design and performance of the concrete structures.This study includes: (a)evaluation and comparison of the existing analytical models to estimating the MOE in normal strength concrete,and (b)proposing and verifying a new model.In addition,a wide range of experimental databases and empirical models to estimate the MOE from compressive strength and density of concrete are evaluated to verification of the proposed model. The results show underestimation of MOE of conventional concrete in majority of the existing models.Also,considering the consistency between density and mechanical properties of concrete,the predicted MOE in the models including density effect,are more compatible with the experimental results. 展开更多

The stability analysis of an abandoned underground gypsum mine requires the determination of the mine pillar’s strength.This is especially important for flooded abandoned mines where the gypsum pillars become saturated and are subjected to dissolution after flooding.Further,mine pillars are subjected to blast vibrations that generate some level of macro- and micro-fracturing.Testing samples of gypsum must,therefore,simulate these conditions as close as possible.In this research,the strength of gypsum is investigated in an as-received saturated condition using uniaxial compressive strength (UCS),Brazilian tensile strength (BTS) and point load index (PLI) tests.The scale effect was investigated and new correlations were derived to describe the effect of sample size on both UCS and BTS under dry and saturated conditions.Effects of blasting on these parameters were observed and the importance of choosing the proper samples was discussed.Finally,correlations were derived for both compressive and tensile strengths under dry and saturated conditions from the PLI test results,which are commonly used as a simple substitute for the indirect determination of UCS and BTS. 展开更多

To improve the strength of carbon fiber(CF)reinforced Polycaprolactam(PA6)composites,controlled amounts of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)were grafted onto the surface of CF to prepare the hybrid reinforcement(HR).We used HR to fabricate laminate and H-sample to test the interfacial bonding strength(IBS)of the composites by means of a novel process called three-dimensional printed molding(3D-PM).By using the melt drop printing method,we measured the contact angles between PA6 and CF(without sizing)and between PA6 and HR.The IBS and the mechanical properties of the composites were obtained by the tensile test.The experimental result indicated that CF grafted by 0.25%weight fraction of CNT or more could develop a special microstructure similar to the micro-pits on the surface of CF,which improved the wettability of CF and PA6 due to the increased surface area and the roughness of CF.When the weight fraction of CNT reached 0.25%,the IBS increased by 41.8%,the tensile strength by 130%,and the interfacial shear strength(IFSS)by 238%.The interfacial dimple fracture was observed by Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM),which revealed that the composites were able to absorb more deforming energy before fracture.The modified surface microstructure of CF would prevent crack propagation at the interface and increase the mechanical properties of thermoplastic composites(TPCs). 展开更多

新型高性能水泥基灌浆料的配制研究 预览

以普通硅酸盐水泥、快硬硫铝酸盐水泥、硅灰和膨胀剂为胶凝材料,再以石英砂为骨料制作灌浆砂浆,通过正交试验设计出高强胶凝材料的最佳配比。最后以上述胶凝材料为基础,粗中细3种砂子为骨料,并添加高性能外加剂,通过改变水和胶凝材料以... 以普通硅酸盐水泥、快硬硫铝酸盐水泥、硅灰和膨胀剂为胶凝材料,再以石英砂为骨料制作灌浆砂浆,通过正交试验设计出高强胶凝材料的最佳配比。最后以上述胶凝材料为基础,粗中细3种砂子为骨料,并添加高性能外加剂,通过改变水和胶凝材料以及胶凝材料和骨料的比例,得到符合标准规范的高性能水泥基灌浆料。掺入快硬水泥有快硬早强的效果;为减小灌浆材料的收缩可以掺入适量膨胀剂;掺入硅灰可以提高灌浆材料的强度。综合考虑灌浆料的流动性,竖向膨胀率以及强度和收缩性的影响,确定灌浆料胶砂比为1.2,水胶比为0.34。研究成果对今后水泥基灌浆材料的发展具有一定的参考价值。 展开更多

纳米SiO2与粉煤灰的增强效应对透水混凝土性能的影响 预览

在基准透水混凝土配合比的基础上,研究复掺纳米 SiO2和粉煤灰对透水混凝土性能的影响。通过抗压、抗折、渗透系数、孔隙率等实验对比两种掺和料对透水混凝土力学性能和渗透系数的影响。结果表明:单掺纳米SiO2对透水混凝土的抗压和抗折... 在基准透水混凝土配合比的基础上,研究复掺纳米 SiO2和粉煤灰对透水混凝土性能的影响。通过抗压、抗折、渗透系数、孔隙率等实验对比两种掺和料对透水混凝土力学性能和渗透系数的影响。结果表明:单掺纳米SiO2对透水混凝土的抗压和抗折强度均有提升,对渗透系数和孔隙率没有影响;单掺粉煤灰对透水混凝土的抗压和抗折强度呈现先增大后减小的趋势,渗透系数和孔隙率小幅度的下降;双掺纳米 SiO2与粉煤灰对透水混凝土性能起叠加效应。在不影响渗透系数前提下,当纳米 SiO2掺量为 5%,粉煤灰掺量为 20%时,透水混凝土抗压强度最高。 展开更多
