Research on the Influence of Guide Blade Trailing Edge Structure on Turbine Performance

The complex structure at trailing edge reduces the manufacturing precision,which results in an error in the size of the trailing edge structure.In this study,the performance of a stage high-pressure turbine(HP turbine)is calculated out in three dimensions.In the HP turbine guide vane,the trailing edge cutback configuration is adopted.Through three-dimensional simulation,the complex flow around the trailing edge with cutback cooling configuration is presented in this study,and the manufacturing precision reduction due to the complex structure at trailing edge is considered.Furthermore,the effect of trailing edge lip thickness and deflection of the stator on the turbine performance is discussed.Overall,as the press-side lip thickness increasing,the turbine efficiency and turbine inlet flow are reduced.However,the changes in the turbine work output are relatively complex.On the other hand,as the spacing between suction-side lip and press-side lip increases,turbine performance becomes worse.Both of the turbine efficiency and the turbine work output become smaller,while the turbine inlet flow becomes bigger.The effect of the spacing between suction-side lip and press-side lip is obviously greater than that of the press-side lip thickness.The change of the press-side lip thickness has little effect on the relation between the turbine performance and the spacing between suction-side lip and press-side lip.However,when the spacing between suction-side lip and press-side lip deviates from the baseline value,the effect law of the press-side lip thickness on the turbine performance will be affected.As the press-side lip thickness increases,it leads to an increase in the low-velocity zone at both of the pressure-side and suction-side trailing edge.And more main stream is affected or mixed into the wake flow.When the spacing between suction-side lip and press-side lip becomes smaller,the low-velocity zone at the trailing edge is smaller,and the change of vortex with the press-side lip thickness is affected.With a bigger spaci 展开更多

Effects of Trenched Film Hole Configurations on the Endwall Film Cooling and Suction Side Phantom Cooling

To maximize the turbine thermal efficiency, modern gas turbine’s inlet temperature is significantly augmented within the past few decades. To prolong the lifespan of gas turbines, many efficient cooling techniques have been proposed and applied in the endwall cooling schemes. However, conventional discrete film hole does not take effect at the leading edge nearby region. In this research, how the trenched film hole configurations affects the endwall cooling and phantom cooling characteristics were deeply studied by using a verified approach. Steady 3D Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) governing equations together with the shear stress transport(SST) k-w turbulence model have been solved. Firstly, results indicate that trenched film holes greatly influence the cooling effectiveness at leading edge nearby region compared to normal case. Nevertheless, suction side phantom cooling is hardly influenced by the trenched film holes. Secondly, the case with a smaller trench width obtains higher endwall cooling effectiveness, particularly at upstream region. More importantly, the cases with W=3D achieve large cooling effectiveness at leading edge nearby region with little influence by trench depth. Additionally, majority of trenched film holes coolant flow is driven towards middle passage. Therefore, the suction side phantom cooling is unaffected by the trenched film holes. 展开更多

为了研究水轮机叶片翼尾弯角变化对水动力性能的影响机理,使用翼型X-foil设计软件对NACA0014翼型进行弯角变形,得到上弯5°、10°和下弯5°、10°、15°五种变形翼型,并通过CFD仿真计算得到不同翼型的各个参数对比... 为了研究水轮机叶片翼尾弯角变化对水动力性能的影响机理,使用翼型X-foil设计软件对NACA0014翼型进行弯角变形,得到上弯5°、10°和下弯5°、10°、15°五种变形翼型,并通过CFD仿真计算得到不同翼型的各个参数对比情况,最后进行了样机实验,验证所得结论的准确性。结果表明:下弯15°翼型升力增幅达到72%;翼尾下弯可使翼型上下表面压差显著增加,翼尾每下弯5°,压差可增加0.25左右;随着下弯程度增加,流场出现分离现象,翼型失速临界攻角降低,更易失速;翼尾上弯使得变形翼型在升阻力和失速性方面均比原始翼型变差。该研究较清楚地揭示了叶片翼尾弯角对水轮机水动力性能的影响机理,为叶片设计与优化提供了翼型层面上的参考。 展开更多

For the enhancement of heat transfer efficiency,a novel turbulator inspired by the morphology of barchan dunes,called the mimetic barchan dune(MBD)turbulator,is designed and evaluated in the simplified gas turbine transition section.By using computational fluid dynamics(CFD),the numerical simulations for comparison have been carried out,concluding the smooth thermal surface,a thermal surface with riblet-shaped turbulator and a thermal surface with MBD turbulator.Then,two indicators are investigated for evaluating the coolant performance which are the heat transfer efficiency(η)on the outlet and the pressure loss(ΔP)in the coolant chamber.The numerical results show that the coolant has the best heat transfer efficiency with less pressure loss in the coolant chamber with the MBD turbulator.Then,the effect of the MBD turbulator sizes on heat transfer efficiency is investigated.When the height of the MBD turbulator(h)is set at 8 mm,the maximum amount of heat that could be transfered by the coolant is up to566.2 K and the corresponding heat transfer efficiency is 26.62%.The detail flows have been shown to elucidate the function of the MBD surface which may greatly arouse more design for solving harsh circumstance. 展开更多

Photovoltaic(PV)generation is growing increasingly fast as a renewable energy source.Nevertheless,the drawback of the PV system is intermittent because of depending on weather conditions.Therefore,the wind power can be considered to assist for a stable and reliable output from the PV generation system for loads and improve the dynamic performance of the whole generation system in the grid connected mode.In this paper,a novel topology of an intelligent hybrid generation system with PV and wind turbine is presented.In order to capture the maximum power,a hybrid fuzzy-neural maximum power point tracking(MPPT)method is applied in the PV system.The average tracking efficiency of the hybrid fuzzy-neural is incremented by approximately two percentage points in comparison with the conventional methods.The pitch angle of the wind turbine is controlled by radial basis function network-sliding mode(RBFNSM).Different conditions are represented in simulation results that compare the real power values with those of the presented methods.The obtained results verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method which has the advantages of robustness,fast response and good performance.Detailed mathematical model and a control approach of a three-phase grid-connected intelligent hybrid system have been proposed using Matlab/Simulink. 展开更多

As the proporti on of ren ewable energy in creases, the interaction between renewable en ergy devices and the grid continues to enhance. Therefore, the renewable energy dynamic test in a power system has become more and more important. Traditional dynamic simulation systems and digital-analog hybrid simulation systems are difficult to compromise on the economy, flexibility and accuracy. A multi-time scale test system of doubly fed induction generator based on FPGA+ CPU heterogeneous calculation is proposed in this paper. The proposed test system is based on the ADPSS simulation platform. The power circuit part of the test system is setup up using the EMT (electromagnetic transient simulation) simulation, and the control part uses the actual physical devices. In order to realize the close-loop testing for the physical devices, the power circuit must be simulated in real-time. This paper proposes a multi-time scale simulation algorithm, in which the decoupling comp on ent divides the power circuit into a large time scale system and a small time scale system in order to reduce computing effort. This paper also proposes the FPGA+CPU heterogeneous computing architecture for implementing this multitime scale simulation. In FPGA, there is a complete small time-scale EMT engine, which support the flexibly circuit modeling with any topology. Turbine blades of gas turbine engines usually suffer from severe operational conditions characterized by high temperature and stress. Severe operational conditions during service cause microstructural changes in turbine blades and degrade their mechanical properties. In this study, service-induced microstructural damages in serviced turbine blades manufactured from a directionally solidified superalloy were evaluated. The observed microstructural damage of the turbine blade mainly involves the coarsening and rafting of γ’ precipitates. The leading edge of 60% height of the turbine blades undergone most severe microstructural damage with significant microstructural evolution at this area. Microstructural damage affects the mechanical properties such as Vickers hardness, that is,Vickers hardness decreases as the equivalent diameter decreases. Microstructural damage shows great positiondependent feature as service temperature and radial stress on blade changes. With the aid of energy-dispersive spectrometer(EDS) analysis on carbide, the transformation of carbide does not exist. In addition, no topological closed-packed phase exists in the turbine blade. 展开更多
