“Exploring petroleum inside source kitchen”: Connotation and prospects of source rock oil and gas 预览

Based on the transitional background of the global energy structure, exploration and development of unconventional oil and gas, and investigation of key basins, the unconventional oil and gas resources are divided into three types: source rock oil and gas, tight oil and gas, and retention and accumulated oil and gas. Source rock oil and gas resources are the global strategic supplies of oil and gas, the key resource components in the second 150-year life cycle of the future petroleum industry, and the primary targets for “exploring petroleum inside source kitchen”. The geological connotation of source rock oil and gas was proposed, and the models of source rock oil and gas generation, expulsion and accumulation were built, and five source rock oil and gas generation sections were identified, which may determine the actual resource potential under available technical conditions. The formation mechanism of the “sweet sections” was investigated, that is, shale oil is mainly accumulated in the shale section that is close to the oil generation section and has higher porosity and permeability, while the “sweet sections” of coal-bed methane(CBM) and shale gas have self-contained source and reservoir and they are absorbed in coal seams or retained in the organic-rich black shale section, so evaluation and selection of good 'sweet areas(sections)' is the key to “exploring petroleum inside source kitchen”. Source rock oil and gas resources have a great potential and will experience a substantial growth for over ten world-class large “coexistence basins” of conventional-unconventional oil and gas in the future following North America, and also will be the primary contributor to oil stable development and the growth point of natural gas production in China, with expected contribution of 15% and 30% to oil and gas, respectively, in 2030. A new classification of petroleum systems(PSs) based on reservoir qualities is proposed. We classify PSs into the following three basic types:(1) source-rock petroleum system(SPS);(2) tight-reservoir or tight petroleum system(TPS);and(3) conventional-reservoir or conventional petroleum system(CPS). The CPS is a PS in which hydrocarbons accumulate in conventional reservoirs, and all the essential elements and processes are significant and indispensable. Oil and gas accumulations are geographically discrete and therefore exist as discontinuous accumulations. The TPS is a PS where hydrocarbons accumulate in tight reservoirs and the source rock, reservoir, seal, migration, and trap are also indispensable,but the traps are mostly non-anticlinal and the accumulations are primarily quasi-continuous and secondarily discontinuous. The SPS is a PS where both hydrocarbon generation and accumulation occurred in source rocks and traps and migration are unnecessary or inconsequential;the hydrocarbon distribution is extensive and continuous and has no distinct boundaries. The aforementioned three PSs can be derived from a common hydrocarbon source kitchen and are closely linked in terms of their formation and distribution. Therefore, to maximize the exploration efficiency, a comprehensive study and different strategies are needed by considering the SPS, TPS, and CPS as parts of a greater whole. 展开更多

Downhole microseismic data has the significant advantages of high signal-to-noise ratio and well-developed P and S waves and the core component of microseismic monitoring is microseismic event location associated with hydraulic fracturing in a relatively high confidence level and accuracy.In this study,we present a multidimensional DIRECT inversion method for microseismic locations and applicability tests over modeling data based on a downhole microseismic monitoring system.Synthetic tests inidcate that the objective function of locations can be defined as a multi-dimensional matrix space by employing the global optimization DIRECT algorithm,because it can be run without the initial value and objective function derivation,and the discretely scattered objective points lead to an expeditious contraction of objective functions in each dimension.This study shows that the DIRECT algorithm can be extensively applied in real downhole microseismic monitoring data from hydraulic fracturing completions.Therefore,the methodology,based on a multidimensional DIRECT algorithm,can provide significant high accuracy and convergent efficiency as well as robust computation for interpretable spatiotemporal microseismic evolution,which is more suitable for real-time processing of a large amount of downhole microseismic monitoring data. 展开更多

Vee-tail conceptual design criteria for commercial transport aeroplanes

Vee-tail configuration is an unconventional tail configuration for commercial transport aviation, the use of which could suppose reductions on CO2 emissions. The conceptual design criteria have been selected inspired on the certification requirements established by the aviation regulation in force. They are static stability in cruise, control after Critical Engine Failure(CEF),control in crosswind landing, and trim in these three conditions. The study is carried out through a combination of semi-empirical techniques and Vortex-Lattice Methods(VLM) and thus this analyses the consequences of applying these criteria to a reference aeroplane substituting its conventional tail by a parametrised Vee-tail configuration. The Vee-tail is defined by four parameters:span, root chord, taper ratio and dihedral angle. The results of the study establish a relation between the parameters in order to accomplish the proposed conceptual design criteria. To sum up, minimum and maximum limits are obtained for dihedral angle depending on the combination of the rest of parameters. In addition, a design restriction to the yawing trailing-edge tail control is reached when the results are analysed, demonstrating that its minimum size must be between 60%and 80% of the half-span of the tail, depending on the Vee-tail geometry. 展开更多

The supercritical carbon dioxide(SC-CO2)jet has a wide application prospect for rock breaking and jet fracturing in the development of the unconventional shale energy,due to its special physicochemical properties.To investigate its jet flow characteristics,the high-speed photography is used in experiments and the simulations through a compressible numerical model are carried out.It is shown that the jet flow field can be divided into three typical regions,the mixing layer possesses the same characteristics as a gas/gas turbulent mixing layer,with the divergent angles evidently smaller than those of the incompressible jets.The predicted results by the numerical model are in a good agreement with those of the experimentations.Through the dimensionless analysis,the potential core shows a length of about 9d and an increasing trend with the increase of the inlet pressure while the decay rate shows a decreasing trend,and the radial profiles consistent well with the 41 Ue-η''normalized method.In addition,a significant temperature drop of the SC-CO2 is observed between the nozzle inlet and the exit.A simple and convenient semi-empirical equation for calculating this temperature variation is deduced.Finally,the flow characteristics suggest that the SC-CO2 jet should be treated as a compressible jet. 展开更多

Through reviewing the development history of reservoir hydraulic fracturing technology, this paper demonstrated the latest research progress at home and abroad and summarized six technical gaps between China and the world, that is fracture propagation mechanism, fracturing software development, fracturing vehicle equipment, downhole tools temperature and pressure resistance, proppant replacement and big data information database. The technical difficulties include lack of geological-engineering deep integration, unclear factors on horizontal well multi-fracture propagation, difficulty in reducing construction costs, environment protection pressure, lack of new experimental and field test equipment, immature techniques for fracturing fluid, and low efficacy of factorized fracturing equipment. We proposed six suggestions on China’s future reservoir hydraulic fracturing technology:(1) strengthen the mechanism study of unconventional reservoir hydraulic fracturing;(2) accelerate the development of geological-engineering integration software;(3) promote the upgrading of EOR fracturing techniques;(4) carry out low-cost multi-functional fracturing fluid formula experiment;(5) complete high-efficiency fracturing equipment;(6) build big database, informational and remote decision-making system of hydraulic fracturing. 展开更多

To solve the problems facing the economic development of unconventional oil and gas, a new concept and corresponding technology system of reservoir stimulation based on 'fracture-controlled reserves' are put forward. The 'fracture-controlled reserves' stimulation technology is to realize the three-dimensional producing and economic and efficient development of unconventional hydrocarbon resources by forming a fracture system that well matches 'sweet spots' and 'non-sweet spots'. The technical route of the stimulation technology is 'three optimizations and controls', that is, control the scope of sand body through optimizing well spacing, control the recoverable reserves through optimizing fracture system, and control the single well production reduction through optimizing energy complement method. The 'fracture-controlled reserves' stimulation emphasizes the maximization of the initial stimulation coefficient, the integration of energy replenishment, stimulation and production, and prolonging the re-fracturing cycle or avoiding re-fracturing. It aims at realizing the three-dimensional full producing and efficient development of reservoir in vertical and horizontal directions and achieving the large-scale, sustainable and high profitable development of unconventional oil and gas resources. The stimulation technology was used to perform 20 pilot projects in five typical tight-oil, shale gas blocks in China. The fracturing and producing effects of tight oil improved and the commercial development for shale gas was realized. 展开更多

Using conventional and unconventional oil and gas resource evaluation methods with play as a unit, this study evaluates the oil and gas geology and resource potential of conventional oil and gas resources and seven types of unconventional resources in the global major oil and gas basins(excluding China). For the first time, resource evaluation data with independent intellectual property rights has been obtained. According to evaluation and calculation, the global recoverable conventional oil resources are 5 350.0×108 t, the recoverable condensate oil resources are 496.2×108 t, and the recoverable natural gas resources are 588.4×1012 m3. The remaining oil and gas 2 P recoverable reserves are 4 212.6×108 t, the reserve growth of oil and gas fields are 1 531.7×108 t. The undiscovered oil and gas recoverable resources are 3 065.5×108 t. The global unconventional oil recoverable resources are 4 209.4×108 t and the unconventional natural gas recoverable resources are 195.4×1012 m3. The evaluation results show that the global conventional and unconventional oil and gas resources are still abundant. 展开更多

Muon spin relaxation/rotation(μSR) is a vital technique for probing the superconducting gap structure, pairing symmetry and time reversal symmetry breaking, enabling an understanding of the mechanisms behind the unconventional superconductivity of cuprates and Fe-based high-temperature superconductors, which remain a puzzle. Very recently double layered Fe-based superconductors having quasi-2 D crystal structures and Cr-based superconductors with a quasi-1D structure have drawn considerable attention. Here we present a brief review of the characteristics of a few selected Fe-and Cr-based superconducting materials and highlight some of the major outstanding problems, with an emphasis on the superconducting pairing symmetries of these materials. We focus on μSR studies of the newly discovered superconductors ACa2Fe4As4F2(A = K, Rb, and Cs), ThFeAsN, and A2Cr3As3(A = K, Cs), which were used to determine the superconducting gap structures, the presence of spin fluctuations, and to search for time reversal symmetry breaking in the superconducting states. We also briefly discuss the results of μSR investigations of the superconductivity in hole and electron doped BaFe2As2. 展开更多

In accordance with the development concept of 'innovation,coordination,green,openness and sharing' and to promote the supply-side structural reform,CNPC proposes its new goals and strategy in the new era,and expands the overall strategy into ‘resources,market,internationalization and innovation'to adapt to the needs of cleaner energy development in the new era and highlight innovation,openness and green development.It has been seen that through foreign cooperation in the field of unconventional gas,remarkable results have been achieved in the introduction of international advanced concepts,technologies and management experiences.Tight gas and shale gas resources in Central China are abundant but more challenged in geological condition than that in North American,and there are great geological,technical and economic risks.CNPC has achieved significant phased achievements for the development of tight gas and shale gas in Ordos and Sichuan Basin;however,the development quality of unconventional gas assets needs to be further improved.To achieve high-quality development of tight gas and shale gas,on one hand,we must implement the strategy of self-operation and foreign cooperation combination,take advantage of the in tegration of self-operation with foreign cooperation and realize synergetic development;on the other hand,we need to fully understand that the technical characteristics of tight gas and shale gas are different from those of the conventional energy and unconventional technical measures,management strategies and methods are required. 展开更多

The development of natural gas in China has entered a golden and leap-forward stage, which is a necessary bridge to clean energy. This in-depth study on the status quo, theory, technology and prospect of natural gas development shows:(1) The global remaining proven recoverable reserves of natural gas are 186×1012 m3, and the reserves-production ratio is 52.4, indicating a solid resource base for long-term and rapid development.(2) Ten formation and distribution laws of conventional and unconventional natural gas reservoirs have been proposed. In terms of exploration geology, the theory of conventional 'monolithic' giant gas fields with different gas sources, and an unconventional gas accumulation theory with continuous distribution of 'sweet areas' in different lithologic reservoirs have been established;in terms of development geology, a development theory of conventional structural gas reservoirs is oriented to 'controlling water intrusion', while a development theory of unconventional gas is concentrated on man-made gas reservoirs.(3) With the geological resources(excluding hydrates) of 210×1012 m3 and the total proven rate of the resources less than 2% at present, the natural gas in China will see a constant increase in reserve and production;by 2030, the proven geological reserves of natural gas are expected to reach about(6 000-7 000)×108 m3, the production of conventional and unconventional natural gas each will reach about 1 000×108 m3, and the gas consumption will reach 5 500×108 m3. The dependence on imported natural gas may be 64% by 2030, and 70% by 2050.(4) Ten measures for future development of natural gas have been proposed, including strengthening exploration in large-scale resource areas, increasing the development benefits of unconventional gas, and enhancing the peak adjusting capacity of gas storage and scale construction of liquified natural gas. 展开更多

Since the beginning of this century,revolutionary progress has been made in the understanding of resources and in the mining technologies of the oil and gas industry.Advances in petroleum engineering technology represented by horizontal wells and large-scale fracturing have promoted the scale development of low-grade and unconventional oil and gas resources.After the rapid growth of natural gas production in China for more than 10 consecutive years,the replacement of conventional natural gas resources has been weak and unconventional natural gas has become the major force for increasing production.Coal based SNG(synthetic natural gas)has also become a major competitor in the domestic market.The development of CTL(coal-toliquids)and SNG industries has brought coal resources into the oil and gas product market,expanding the concept of traditional oil and gas resources.The continuous improvement of petroleum engineering technology has promoted the development of deep underground coal gasification technology,which has given economic value to the huge amount of deep coal resources that are unable to be exploited by underground mining,and provides a tremendous resource guarantee for the sustainable development of the traditional oil and gas industry.A preliminary calculation shows that deep underground coal gasification has a competitive advantage in cost compared with high-cost,low-grade,unconventional gas and coal-based natural gas.Deep underground coal gasification is a typical cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral sophisticated technology.Domestic oil and gas enterprises have dominant advantages in the engineering technology of this field.Further technical integration innovation and multi-industry joint research are needed to eventually realize the commercial application of this deep underground coal gasification technology. 展开更多
